  1. Fangraphs (who considers the schedule) is projecting the Yankees to finish with 89 wins and the Red Sox to finish with 87. Since we own the tiebreakers, I do think 89 wins could realistically take the division but that would be cutting it close. 90 and up and we have a great shot. Like you said 93 or even 92 probably gets it done for sure.
  2. The Yankees' schedule is so cake from here on out. Hopefully Baltimore shows up for the 7 games against them. They've been playing better and probably hate the Yankees as much as anyone so they should be motivated.
  3. Manfred is going to get rid of the American and National League and will institute Eastern and Western instead
  4. Little been pretty lights out in every month but August so far and that's largely due to one bad outing against LAD. He can run a really high walk rate, even higher than most high-k/elite relievers, because his K rate and GB rate are both so good. Even so, walking over 6 per 9 doesn't seem good. Needs to get that down in the 4s.
  5. It's all Seattle's fault. Just contract the team rather than jumping through all these expansion and realignment hoops.
  6. So the Marlins were going to go Quantrill-Junk-Eury Perez but they put Quantrill on waivers yesterday. So probably see Ryan Gusto instead? Their whole rotation is TBD for the upcoming series but it's probably something like; Bieber vs. TBD Berrios vs. Junk Gausman vs. E. Perez
  7. Well that's better. He has an option next year so I assume we tender him and use him as depth. I'm not expecting much beyond that though. Here's an article which discusses his elaborate glove raise. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/notes-on-more-pitching-rehabbers/
  8. Kirk's flyout would have been a homer in Yankee Stadium lol
  9. My impression is that he's not, they want to leverage tomorrow's offday to give him a full 72 hours of rest
  10. Yeah no need to be careful with the two guys who are the biggest injury risks on the team in Bieber who is coming off TJS and Max whose 41 year old thumb is hanging on by a thread Gausman (4th most innings in baseball the past 5 years) doesn't need any rest either Ramp it up boys! It's playoff time! 😂
  11. Interesting strategy. I think most teams (the ones who can afford to anyway) try to get their starters some form of rest, though I'm not sure that will come in the form of a 6-man rotation or not. But here you are suggesting they ramp up! Did you manage an MLB team in the 1970s per chance?
  12. I could see a 6-man rotation during the stretch in September where we play 13 straight games.
  13. When rosters expand in September, a 6-man rotation becomes easier with the extra bullpen arm. Until then, Bieber, Gausman, and Scherzer are the clear top three, and Bassitt isn’t a bullpen fit. That leaves Berríos and Lauer. Lauer has bullpen experience seems to be a better fit as a longman than Berríos, and he Bassitt now have shorter leashes with Lauer in the pen. It also gives Lauer useful pen reps ahead of the playoffs, where he could be valuable if a starter falters early.
  14. Day off tomorrow too so hopefully he's back Friday with a strict no splits and no hustling rule in place
  15. Correct. He needs to stop hustling on the bases too. Vlad should never hustle.
  16. Apparently Barger did fail some test in 2019. But from what I've seen it appears to be for for amphetamines not steroids. Still just a wild thing to say about a player not even involved in the scuffle.
  17. They rode Grant Holmes pretty hard on the RP-SP conversion too.
  18. Uh oh it looks like I struck a nerve with the AA Fanboys on this one! Sure, 79 wins might be too low but beating that total by a few games isn't going to do them any good when the high spending Mets and Phillies are projecting for far more. In other words, this was supposed to be a potential dynasty that rivaled the Dodgers. 2 years and zero playoff wins later and we are talking about them being a decent bet to finish over .500 because AA teams are always paper thin. Sad!
  19. The Jays have a good opportunity to essentially put the division away with these next three series: @ Pirates @ Miami (cooled off considerably) vs. Twins Meanwhile, the Yankees and Red Sox have a 4 game series coming up.
