  1. I also wonder if the Jays are working under some interesting theories regarding their pinch hitters. Pinch hitting is hard and it seems like most players take a big hit in production when they do it. It might make sense to use batters who can simply put the ball in play and try to get some BABIP luck. Maybe that's why the Jays pinch hit with IKF, Straw, France, etc. since they don't strike out much. SSS alert (always will be when it comes to pinch hitting), but: IKF has a 134 wRC+ in 30 pinch hit plate appearances Schneider has a 27 wRC+ in 32 PAs
  2. Yeah I can see the argument to dump IKF but he's not the worst bench player in the world. He's a pretty decent one actually as he has some good bench skills (defense, baserunning) and projects for about 1.5 WAR per 150 games.
  3. In that scenario, I would probably add him to the pile of bench pieces like IKF, France, Straw, etc. and play him when the situation calls for it. I suppose if everyone is healthy someone will be left off though. Loperfido is an easy demotion but we also will have Bo coming back. If Taters looks totally clueless at the plate then maybe he is the guy who is left off.
  4. If during a low pressure game she puts up one of the worst ump performances in history imagine how she'll do when the stakes are high! End this travesty!
  5. Yes, thank heavens we dodged that nightmare scenario. Instead, the only issue is that her umpiring is actively swinging games for teams by as much as 2.5 runs. That's far more preferable.
  6. How long do ump numbers take to stabilize? Doesn't take long for pitch framing to stabilize and I bet ump grading is similar. Both are high volume events so you are obtaining data at a very high rate. Also, both are controlled events that don't rely on batted ball luck or anything like that. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that she sucks. It's time to pull the plug.
  7. Well the fact that she's been utter trash isn't helping the narrative that she was deserving of her shot lol
  8. Springer's fly out would have been in the 2nd deck at Yankee Stadium
  9. Velo looks solid, fastball and slurve are moving, location looks amazing
  10. What manager in baseball is going to have the courage to do the right thing and get ejected after arguing balls and strikes with Jen Pawol? God knows she's giving these managers ample opportunity but none of them have the balls to do it Might be the one scenario where Aaron Boone could actually step up
  11. Brutal game for Jen Pawol last night. 2.5 runs for one team is the highest I can remember lol. It's only been 3 games but she has the lowest accuracy of any umpire this year. https://umpscorecards.com/data/umpires
  12. Blue Jays now lead MLB in position player fWAR. 1st in Defense 3rd in Offense 26th in baserunning
  13. Vlad is fat and plays 1B so you would assume he's not very athletic. But he has sneaky athleticism and is young so Altuve underrated it twice. Vlad almost got a "bolt" on the the grounder he beat out to first.
  14. They spent almost 70 mil in AAV this offseason but it was all on one year deals outside of Tyler O'Neill (a guy they didn't need) so they were kind of cheap, kind of not. OF Tyler O'Neill: Three years, $49.5MM (O'Neill can opt out after 2025) RHP Charlie Morton: One year, $15MM RHP Tomoyuki Sugano: One year, $13MM RHP Andrew Kittredge: One year, $10MM (including $1MM buyout on 2026 club option) C Gary Sánchez: One year, $8.5MM OF Ramón Laureano: One year, $4MM (deal also has 2026 club option) OF Dylan Carlson: One year, $975K I think they thought they could dumpster dive on the rotation and rely on producing an elite bullpen again but you're a fool if you think you can build an elite bullpen year in, year out.
  15. I'm glad we get them at home.
  16. Yeah Boston winning 2 of 3 is ideal. That 3 game set against us gives them an opportunity that the Yankees no longer have and they have an offday before they face us so they can probably finagle Crochet into the series. That said, they only have 16 games left so there is less opportunity to take matters into their own hands and make games up. It also makes their 3 game deficit look a little rosier than it actually is, they are 4 back in the loss column so with the tiebreaker they will have to be 5 losses better than the Jays over the rest of the season. Going to be tough for them!
  17. Jays schedule is manageable vs. Houston x2 vs. Baltimore x3 @ TB x4 @ KC x3 vs. Boston x3 vs. TB x3 11 home games to just 7 road games. We are just one game back from the best home record in baseball. The two road series are manageable. Normally a trip to Tampa would scare the hell out of me (still does a little) but I feel a little better in that they haven't been playing very well at home this year. KC's rotation has been wrecked by injuries.
  18. That BOS-Minny-Baltimore 10 game road trip with no off days is going to be harder for the Yanks than their fans think. The Yankees, like most contenders, are floating around .500 on the road. Minny sucks but they are .500 at home so those games might be tight and the Yanks could very well be cooked before their final homestand where I think they can expect to finish strong.
  19. If there was ever any doubt about putting Buck on the Level of Excellence or not this right here solidifies it. Dude is a Jays lifer and going viral for his passionate Yankee hate is a Top 10 moment in Jays broadcast history. Let's go on a World Series run for Buck and put him on the Level of Excellence Opening Day next year. Not sure how much longer we will have him.
  20. First time in over a year that play was even attempted. 99.9% of the time the 1B is just content to take the out. Elite defensive play by Vlad.
  21. G Good morning Jays Centre...how is everyone feeling this morning?
  22. Jays comeback to tie in the 9th and win a walk-off in the 10th Yankees with an epic meltdown, give up 8 runs in the 7th inning before recording an out Buck with an all-time anti-Yankee rant that goes viral Tyler Heineman half naked in the post game IKF detailing his harrowing experience to baseball hell (aka the Pittsburgh Pirates) after his big hit What a night
  23. It’s the middle of the Pennant Chase and everyone on the team is making sacrifices in order to win Perhaps none bigger than the sacrifice that IKF made when he went to baseball hell (aka the Pittsburgh Pirates) and back in order to find that base knock in the 9th 🫡
