  1. "Maybe, maybe not?" That's exactly the kind of spineless reply I expect from you Jim. Is he cooked or not? Grow some balls and take a side. And 2021 isn't when this started FYI. His statcast numbers in 2020 were really quite bad but he got some good BABIP luck that year. Add in the deadened ball a year later and that was when he couldn't fake being a good player anymore.
  2. I hate to say it because he was probably my favorite player on the team at one point but I'm pretty sure Biggio is our version of Gleyber Torres. The injuries last year didn't help but the dead ball is killing him more than anything. He's a lefty pull hitter who gets shifted, has a high launch angle, Ks quite a bit, and has an elite BB%. Despite mediocre batted ball data that kind of profile played in 2019 but deaden the ball and it will kill someone like that because it's going to take a decent chunk of his homers and turn them into fly ball outs, which renders his already low BA to levels that make him almost unplayable. Despite hitting 24 jacks in his first 574 ABs in the bigs, his average home run distance was always toward the very bottom of the team around 390 feet. Most guys around the league with average home run distance of 390 feet aren't hitting anywhere close to 20+ homers a season but he was. Deaden the ball and it's not even a huge difference to the eye but if you take 6-10 homers off the board over the course of 160 games and turn them into outs it's going to affect his stat line greatly. It turns him from a .240 hitter with pop to a .225 hitter with subpar power. Pitchers aren't going to respect him as much either so his elite BB% is becoming more pedestrian as well. Regress the lucky BABIP he was getting and his BA continues to crater even further. He looked like a potential star at one point but now I think he's screwed unless he morphs himself into more of a spray hitter who can retain a solid walk rate. But it looks like we've already got that guy in Espinal who is also a superior defender and there is no guarantee that Biggio can change his game like that anyway. Maybe a ban on the shift will help him but even if that happens the 2019-2020 version of Biggio isn't coming back. Guy looks like a mediocre bench player AT BEST moving forward IMO.
  3. ^^Trying really hard not to QUOTE REPLY that one you guys. I know how much he hates it. But he keeps setting them up on a tee for me.
  4. He’s torching the ball in AAA but you say that like you’re really going out on a limb lol
  5. I like giving Springer plenty of rest after last year’s debacle of a season. Day game after a night game makes sense. He can pinch hit if needed.
  6. So Tilapia and Collins both had multi-hit games tonight and Biggio threw up another 0-fer. Maybe Ross Atkins knows what he’s doing after all?
  7. Maybe the Jays brass corrected it! And nice throw by Collins lmao
  8. Lmao where the hell does he even get his baseball pants from? Too tall for the children’s section and no hips for the women’s section.
  9. Yeah maybe the Jays think with a tweak or two he can hit a not completely empty .280 with acceptable defense and good base running.
  10. Oh man a Stripling-Collins battery tonight. Better score some runs tonight boys.
  11. Last I heard his blood pressure got so high after the daily nukes I was dropping on him (aka my quote replies) that his doctors forced him to retire from TV and he is now living in a retirement home in Florida. To be clear it brings me no joy to say that and I don't wish him any further harm but I do not regret any of my previous actions. In fact, if anyone knows how to get a hold of him I'd be interested in reaching out to him simply to ask him what the hell he was thinking coming here and challenging us like that. They won the AL East in 2014 and should have been minding their own business but instead they had to come over here and pop off. Big mistake because shortly after the entire franchise went into a tailspin and now they are perennial basement dwellers. What dumbasses.
  12. Before I explain something to you I think it'd be helpful if I gave you a quick history lesson. You probably don't know how I got the nickname Terminator do you? Decades ago my username on the old board was POTATO_IN_MY_ASS_69. But after defeating all 400 Dogg accounts in the Great Message Board Wars (you don't see him around here anymore do you?) as well as dominating the battlefield in the Orioles Hangout War against real life celebrity Roy Firestone and his minions (you don't even see Roy Firestone on TV anymore because I forced him into retirement) the mods granted me with the title of Terminator. What that means is that I'm basically the most powerful mod on this board without actually having any mod powers because I don't need them. Now let me explain something to you my friend. Blocking me will not help you whatsoever. Many have tried doing that over my many years of posting about Blue Jays baseball and it NEVER works. Ask real life celebrity Roy Firestone if you can even find him. The dreaded "quote replies" that you fear so much will not stop. In fact they will only increase. Because when you register for the BJMB you are entering a cyber war zone. And in this war zone I am the Sheriff. And the Sheriff says that despite your useless block the quote replies will continue. Good luck my friend.
  13. so what was Chapman thinking? Trying to get to 3rd n a single so he could be the tying run? The play happened right in front of him it’s weird that he thought that was for sure getting past the 2B
  14. For someone who doesn’t like discussing Greg Bird you really do talk about him a lot! Just saying!
  15. Looks like they approached Vlad as well. Seems like they were just putting feelers out for more serious discussions after the season.
  16. Me when Greg Bird is mentioned on BJMB:
  17. Greg Bird hit 2 home runs in spring training and it's sadly probably the best thing he's done since his rookie year. One of those homers was against Sam Howard who has a career 5.26 ERA and the other was against Reggie McClain, a guy I've never heard of and who has 16 BBs and 13Ks in brief stints at the big league level. As Spring Training wore on, and Bird started to face actual MLB talent, he started to predictably suck ass. In his final 4 games he went 1 for 11 with 4 Ks and no walks. The guy absolutely stinks.
  18. He's currently in Scranton in the midst of a 2 for 15 slump to start the year. Although I'm not sure slump is the right word because that would imply that he's actually a better hitter than that and he's not really.
  19. Lmao yes! More Greg Bird discussion! Yeah the guy that Steamer projects to slash .202/.294/.387 is exactly what we need right now. Nevermind the fact that Biggio can barely crack the lineup after producing 4 WAR in 160 games in his first 2 years. Greg Bird is the guy that will fix our 4-2 team.
  20. Yeah the lineup still isn't even that bad; it's just bad compared to our usual All-Star lineup. Kirk can really hit. Biggio and Espinal project well. Tapia isn't a strong hitter by any means but against righties he's not a total zero. Zimmer probably can't hit but he's batting 9th and is one of top defensive outfielders in baseball. The lineup is fine.
  21. But what does it matter if Springer is in the field or not? I think you basically end up with the same 9 right? Only one of them would be DHing. Tbh it seems like the perfect day to DH Springer because Zimmer is being forced into action anyway. Might as well take advantage of it and give Springer a little breather.
