  1. We need a stat that measures how dumb a player is when he’s on the basepaths. We can call it the Retarded Baserunning Runs Above Average. So for example a guy like Tilapia who is legit fast rates as 40th in home to first times but he gets penalized because his RBRAA is so awful it really craters his overall baserunning score. Jonathan Villar’s RBRAA would have to be setting all time records. Never seen such retarded baserunning in my entire life and that includes watching my nephew’s little league games. I wonder if Fangraphs would let me write a Community Article on this?
  2. According to statcast Tapia is in the 81st percentile for sprint speed and Grichuk is in the 75th. So Tapia isn’t even that much faster yet his BsR is much better. So if Tapia really is that stupid on the basepaths yet he’s still that much better than Grichuk, then wouldn’t Grichuk have to be even dumber?
  3. Yeah I was thinking this played a factor. Jays straight up gave away Freddy Galvis once for similar reasons. I disagree with pretty much all of this. Grichuk is *probably* the better player but after looking at the numbers more I'm not even sure of that anymore. Tapia out-WAR'd him in each of the last two seasons. I can't really say much about the defense with any certainty but I don't think you can either. Tapia grades out much much better statcast wise. I assume you base the fact that he can't play CF off of his arm but it looks like whatever advantages Grichuk has there that Tapia might be able to make it up with his range (Grichuk's range is terrible and he's not really playable in CF either). CF in RC is much more doable for a below average arm than it is in Coors where's it's almost a must. Also, Tapia will be going from one of the worst orgs in baseball to one of the best. I bet the Jays feel they can squeeze more juice out of his profile. Grichuk had a .280 OBP last year so let's not act like he's any good either lol
  4. I think this is one of those trades where both teams did well. Grichuk is the better player and a "good" fit for the Rockies (should be able to crank out around 30 homers while playing his position at the expansive Coors outfield) but Tapia is a better fit for us (left handed bat and good pinch runner). The Rockies got a lot of cash out of us but we got an interesting prospect. It's a good move for Grichuk too. He was benched his last two months here but in Colorado he'll play a lot and can crank out 30 jacks a year the next two years. Tapia probably wasn't going to play much anyway with the signing of Bryant but now he'll be a top bench option for one of the best teams in the league. Ws all around for everyone involved.
  5. He’s going from the worst org in baseball to one of the best so I suspect that there is some extra juice to squeeze out of him.
  6. Love the trade depending on the money but scared shitless to see Montoyo start Tapia at DH and bat him lead off 80 games this year.
  7. I didn't say it was a good idea lol
  8. Just going to say it but part of me secretly hopes the Jays use the final roster spot on Billy Hamilton.
  9. Praying someone signs Joe Panik so I don't get a notification on my phone that the Jays have signed him to a minor league contract. I can't handle another season of Buntoyo giving him the occasional start as the DH.
  10. Yeah they look like the 2013 Blue Jays right now but worse.
  11. Lol ok that was good
  12. Left handed bats are pretty much all gone in FA. Conforto is there but will be on the more expensive side. Gardner is available but I'd rather wipe my ass with sandpaper than sign that guy. Might need to look at a trade.
  13. I guess one way to look at it is if the Dodgers let him walk at that price he must be cooked.
  14. So what the hell was AA crying about when reporters asked him about Freeman leaving?
  15. Ha, Braves just signed Kenley Jansen for 1 year 16 mil. I change my mind. Kenley is definitely cooked and that's a big overpay. Good job to avoid Ross.
  16. I feel ya. The Projections aren't kind to Kenley but his statcast looks nuts. I also think we are entering that territory where the team is so damn good that guys like him actually make sense for us when they wouldn't for an 85-win team.
  17. We need Kenley Jansen. Offer him 1 year 18 mil or 2 years 32 mil and make someone beat that deal.
  18. Pirates are kind of tempting to go the over tbh. The pitching is an absolute disaster but the lineup actually isn’t that bad and their division isn’t very good.
  19. Orioles aren’t that bad but the schedule is scary. They can pile up losses in a hurry in the AL East. I think they went 1-17 against the Rays or something like that?
  20. Corey Dickerson going to log 500 ABs as our primary DH over Kirk.
  21. Lol that bullpen sucks and definitely can be improved upon
  22. 2-3 WAR players are low hanging fruit for Atkins. When he rolls out of bed in the morning he steps on a couple of them. So I'd easily trade 3 or 4 of them for a perennial MVP candidate to finish off this roster.
