    Stan Kroenke owns the Nuggets and Avs (as well as the LA Rams) and is one of the best owners in sports. The Broncos were owned by Pat Bowlen for decades who was one of the great NFL owners of all-time. The Waltons seems to be good owners now. Then you have the Monforts who own the Rockies. Absolute garbage owners down there with the likes of Jeffrey Loria and Dan Snyder.

    I can't even name any of those Rockies and I probably go to about 10-15 games a year and am an avid baseball fan.

    It's close but they still have us finishing ahead. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds Fair points on the rest of the stuff, but I believe Fangraphs takes into account the upper minor league systems for the ROS. They also probably won't be able to acquire a deadline player who makes any kind of money which will limit their potential targets whereas the Jays can. But we shall see how it all plays out. I'm sure all the Orioles fans on the board will be keeping us closely apprised.

    I'd try and grab Nolan Jones if you still can. Dude can mash and he's stealing too. He's not going to be a .300 hitter with that K rate but Coors is going to pump his AVG a fair bit anyway.

    How the hell is Jesse Chavez having a career year in 2023. I remember when we traded Liam Hendricks for him. Chavez looked cooked back then even. He's 39.

    I'm not touching the politics of Covid but yes, he broke curfew back when the season was about to be canceled. It pissed his teammates off so much that he was optioned to the minors for doing so. He's also had two significant self-inflicted injuries because he couldn't control his temper. Not saying any of that's disqualifying, but there is often more fire to the smoke. He's also very borderline as is.

    Hoping for a Nuggets win tonight but I live in prime riot territory as I'm on the cutting edge of gentrifying my neighborhood. Should be good as riots for sports aren't quite what they used to be. My guns will be locked and loaded for any riff raff that tries anything though. Can never be too careful.

    Well I don't completely agree but I do get the general senitment. Those two games we lost to the Twins were great examples. Kikuchi looked fine but they took him out after 5 and we had to burn through a bunch of arms. Then the next day Francis was looking good but we took him out, and because we've been burnt through everyone the game before by taking Kooch out early, had to use Cimber. If either we used Kikuchi for one more inning on Friday, or tried to get a couple more outs with Francis on Saturday, we might come ahead in at least one of those games.

    Well yeah but you can somewhat assume that if the runner on first scores that the runner on second will too, right? What scenarios are there where KK scores from first and Kirk doesn't from second? I'm sure there are some but they are remote, hence the non-tying runs not meaning anything is basically true. It being the 8th inning instead of the 9th makes it slightly less true as well as entering the 9th down one is better than being down two. But still, that was the inning to make things happen.

    Doesn't seem like the underlying numbers are improving. He's barreling the ball more in a small sample but the Ks have exploded. Even in May and June they are way up compared to '19 and '20 while the walks are down (though the latter has been better in 16 ABs in June). But even if he keeps this up and barrels the ball more he's got to get his Ks down because his numbers are worse than ever. In 2019 he was legit good but 2020 (when they deadened the ball) is when the cracks started to show. His batted ball data tanked but because of the short season along with a career high BABIP and career low K rate, he was able to put up a mirage that tracked his 2019 season. But even if we give him that half season, it's been 1.5 seasons of good play and 2+ and counting of garbage. He's similar to Didi Gregorious. He and Biggio run launch angles similar to Aaron Judge but they have poor exit velos. That can work with a live ball (or a high exit velo) but it won't work with a dead one.

    That seems to happen to Gausman a few times every year. He's basically a two pitch starter so when the team finds some way to lay off the splitter he can get rocked.

    Yeah Bautista actually changed his approach to an extreme pull hitter mid career and that made him a HoF talent for the latter half of his career. 59 homers from age 23-28 and 285 homers from age 29 on. If he had that approach his entire career he probably would be in the HoF as a 3B/OF.

    Yeah he's definitely warranting consideration at this point but he needs ABs as he's turned himself into a real prospect at this point. Otherwise it would make sense to swamp out Lukes for him since he never plays anyway. But we don't want him rotting on the bench. We all know how I feel about Biggio but he's been playing better since the start of May and I don't think we can give up on Espinal who has basically established himself as a 2 WAR a year player over the past 4 seasons now. The team might want to see if they can get either of them going.

    This is just who he is. A great defensive player and a good but not great hitter. He was never going to be able to keep up that hot start.
