  1. A lot of it is luck as his underlying numbers are great. But his problem is that he has a career low pull rate, as well as a career low oppo rate. This has lead to his Straight % being a career high BY FAR. 43.9% of his batted balls are going to the middle of the field and it's zapping his power. In 2021 his Straight% was just 35.9%. This seems to match the eye test too. In Game 1 of this series he hit a 405 ball to dead center for a flyout. They play him so deep too. If you look at his hit chart he has zero hits to deep center. They just play the wall so even when he's crushing balls 380+ they just die in centerfield for fly outs. He needs to have two approaches. Try to pull the ball into the seats until he gets two strikes. Then he can open up and try to simply get some wood on the ball. Bo is the master at this. But with Vlad it's like he's taking a two strike approach into the beginning of the AB with him.
  2. It's a small sample size but the team has got to stop using Swanson in Gausman games. It's not ideal for your top setup man to not be able to pitch in games in which your ace also pitches but it is what it is. The opposing team gets used to Gausman's splitter and then Swanson comes in with a similar but probably worse splitter and he gets knocked around. We need to give the opposing team a different look after Gausman gets through the lineup 3 times and Swanson ain't it.
  3. Vlad tries hard but he's really immature and tries to win the game every single chance he gets. Huge hacks at garbage pitches. Constantly runs into outs on the bases. And today he tried to make a hero throw to 3B which ultimately cost us the game. If he just let the game come to him and focused on controlling what he can he'd be so much better. Dude needs a sports psychologist in the worst way to help him grow the hell up.
  4. Yeah the subpar first half basically boils down to him and Manoah. Everything else is going well enough. We even got big bounce backs from Berrios and Kooch who were the biggest question marks entering the year. But Manoah ate his way out of the league and Vlad is a light hitting defensive liability at 1B so the team is struggling to make WC3.
  5. Vlad was terrible this series. 1 for 11 with 2 walks a run and an RBI. Also had that error in the 7th. His OPS is .792 for the season.
  6. That trade has little to do with our struggles this year. Moreno suxxx and we just signed Belt instead of Gurriel who is giving us similar production out of the DH spot anyway.
  7. Red Sox are single handedly tanking our season lol. If we were even just 3-4 against them we would be WC2 and right behind the Orioles. Instead we are 0-7 and on the outside looking in.
  8. Welp, Nolan Jones has continued to hit but the Rockies did indeed Rockie him and have now sat him against righties in back to back games in favor of Kris Bryant, CJ Cron and Randall Grichuk lmao
  9. Yeah it's going to be costly to make any additions. Very few teams are out of it at this point. They might try and bring up Manoah right after the ASB and see what he's got prior to the trade deadline as well. So add him to go with Ryu and Green as possible additions. The team could also use a bat but I don't know even know what position you'd want. Most of our problem is guys underperforming or a team wide RISP issue.
  10. Can we get a wellness check on Grant please? 0-6 vs the Red Sox this year. You ok buddy?
  11. Yeah that's rough. Rocking a 7.45 ERA in the midst of the team's worst season in franchise history. At least he's getting 17.5 Mil for it all.
  12. Lol. I don't mind her but that's kind of funny. Kirk deserves some credit for that play as well. He picked that off the dirt and fired it down there. Excellent play by Espinal though.
  13. So I log in to the board after we win a nail biter against the hottest team in baseball and all the takes are "we're going to choke in the playoffs" or "well 'at least' we won". What the hell do you mean "at least" we won? Is a series win against a good team not good enough for ya? Did they need to win by more than 1 run? Vlad hit a bomb and we took the series. What more do you want? lol
  14. What the hell kind of comment is this? We just won the series against the hottest team in baseball lol
  15. 109.2 mph exit velocity on Bo's lineout
  16. two lineouts to start, both over 100 mph
  17. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-look-at-the-best-team-defenses-thus-far/
  18. If you think we are bad with RISP, check out the Padres. They are slashing .208/.302/.355 with RISP.
  19. You want him to admit that he’s fat and washed on recorded camera?
  20. Tony Fernandez was hitting .414 on June 21 in 1999. Was hitting .400 as late as June 28. Ended up hitting .328 that year.
  21. Look at these comparison pics. Seems like it's waaaay more than just 30ish pounds. Manoah ate his way from Cy Young finalist to the Florida Complex League.
  22. Yeah he's not getting anywhere near .400 IMO. Would be pretty surprised if he ends above .370.
