A lot of it is luck as his underlying numbers are great.
But his problem is that he has a career low pull rate, as well as a career low oppo rate. This has lead to his Straight % being a career high BY FAR. 43.9% of his batted balls are going to the middle of the field and it's zapping his power. In 2021 his Straight% was just 35.9%.
This seems to match the eye test too. In Game 1 of this series he hit a 405 ball to dead center for a flyout. They play him so deep too. If you look at his hit chart he has zero hits to deep center. They just play the wall so even when he's crushing balls 380+ they just die in centerfield for fly outs.
He needs to have two approaches. Try to pull the ball into the seats until he gets two strikes. Then he can open up and try to simply get some wood on the ball. Bo is the master at this. But with Vlad it's like he's taking a two strike approach into the beginning of the AB with him.
