    Unless I'm forgetting someone J Ram is going to go down as the greatest player in franchise history. Seems like he'll end up playing his entire career in Cleveland after signing a team friendly deal. He's on track to make the HoF and should have decent enough team success as they seem like an okay enough org in a crap division. And they'll be playing highlights of that punch until the end of time.

    Also, just want to point out that Jose Bautista has an 80 grade jaw compared to Tim Anderson. Or Rougned Odor has a 20 grade right hook which is also possible.

    The Cleveland radio call on that fight last night was so good. I saw a video where someone lined it up with the best available video broadcast and it was like an announcer calling a heavyweight championship fight. Awesome stuff.

    Could Vlad's shortcomings be fixed with a simple change in approach? What if he just crowded the plate more and pulled dat ball? I'm sure it's easier said than done.

    Yeah when the buyouts were attached it was still iffy but it was essentially an 11 million dollar option (1.5M buyout should be factored in either way). But now that it's a straight up 12.5 he's going to have to ball out these two months to make me want to do it.

    From the article itself: So the Cardinals are paying half of what he is owed for the remainder of this year and then they are paying any buyouts should they arise. If the Jays want to exercise any of his options, the Jays will be responsible for paying the full amount on this options? That's how I read it.

    Yeah I'm not sure about either of them but they could be options. Regardless, with Kirk hitting better lately, he and Jansen can be the right handed bat we need by DHing against lefties. Then by adding DeJong we've at least got a ton of multi-positional players, some of whom bat left and some of whom bat right. So when Bo is back to full strength, we should be able to platoon and sub enough so that the DeJong's, Espinal's, Biggio',s Belt's, etc. at least have the matchup advantage in most of their plate appearances. Whit being able to play 2B and the OF helps a lot in this regard. In another month the rosters expand so we can add another bat to take the pinch hitting madness even further. Maybe Clement or Schneider.

    If Bo is back and healthy soon, carrying both DeJong and Espinal might not make a ton of sense. Mancini and Nelson Cruz are a couple of right handed bench bats we could take a look at. We could call up Schneider as well.

    Yeah there just weren't a ton of sellers. And of those sellers, even fewer had things of value to actually trade.

    Maybe a Davis Schneider callup could be the right handed bat? Or maybe DeJong is just going to be the right handed bat and Whit kicks out to LF when necessary.

    I'm pretty impressed with Cohen. A lot of big spending owners would draw the line when it comes to spending like this to stock up the farm system. They'll probably just turn around and make a bunch of signings again this offseason.

    Team defense is going to be insanely good when DeJong is in there over Bo. According to OAA we will be replacing a 6th percentile SS with a 97th percentile one. Could see Bo DHing a fair amount to ease him back in to the lineup.

    I was reading that teams can include contingency money in trades in case team options are picked up. So maybe could do a prospect and a PTBNL for Anderson and contingency money. If the option is picked up the PTBNL is a 40 FV guy. If the option is declined the PTBNL is some scrub.

    Hader accounts for 1 run saves though. It's mostly all luck.

    Laureano could be a decent option. He can hit fastballs but struggles against sliders. IDK how that would play out exactly but if there is something in the profile he could be worth it if the cost is a platoon player. I assume it would be given the injury history. He can platoon with Varsho and KK this year and next year he can platoon again while also being our backup CF as I assume that KK will walk and Varsho will take over the full time CF duties.

    Everyone hates him around here but this is exactly right. On top of it, after starting off the year 2 for 31 he's slashing .278/.352/.391 since mid April. He was also good in '21 and '22 when he played at a 2.8 WAR per 150 games played average. So he's got a solid track record. He's a fine bench player/short side platoon player.

    If the price on hitters is too high then let's just call up Schneider (short side platoon bat) and Ernie Clement (could be a good pinch hitter if the situation calls for only a single).

    While unlikely to happen unless the M's get their socks knocked off, I do think it could make some sense. The Yankees are desperate and could overpay but the M's will want to try and contend again in 2024 so it will take the right pieces. It's a good "bold prediction."

    Not sure but they suck in 1 run games this year (15-19). These standings include 1 run records. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of correlation between the good teams and their 1 run records. https://www.mlb.com/standings/advanced-splits -The Rockies are 16-13 and the Royals are .500 in 1 run games despite being 2 of the 3 worst teams in the league. -Even the A's aren't that bad with a 16-22 record in 1 run games. -The Dodgers have a losing record. -Texas is 7-14 in 1 run games and they are leading their division. -The Padres struggles could perhaps be explained almost entirely by a 0-9 record in extra innings and a 6-17 record in 1 run games and they have Josh Hader. If good bullpens mattered, certainly the best CL in baseball would prevent them from being this dogshit in these scenarios?

    Please no. That guy is Joey Gallo vs the rest of the league but put him in Yankee Stadium against us and he'd be prime Babe Ruth.
