  1. Congratulations to the poverty-stricken Rays on reattaching the roof to their stadium
  2. In addition to bringing Iglesias back, the Braves also traded Nick Allen to the Astros for Mauricio Dubon. Dubon is a lot better but the Astros are trying to get under the tax. Allen is projected to be about 4 million bucks cheaper and also has 3 more years of control to Dubon's one.
  3. Does Bellinger's pull-heavy, low exit-velo approach make him a Yankee Stadium merchant? Or would that approach work at RC too?
  4. This is something I'm trying to be better at 99% of the board feuds would end if people quit worrying about this
  5. This guy wouldn't be bad. Zips projects him to have a 117 wRC+ and I don't imagine that he'll break the bank. But as a 1B/3B he's not a great fit positionally unless Bo doesn't return.
  6. In the past 10 seasons the Colorado Rockies have more playoff wins than the Baltimore Orioles
  7. Ward’s arb projection is nearly 14 million. Puzzling acquisition to say the least. Maybe an Orioles fanboy (zero playoff wins btw) could explain this trade for me? Or do you guys even exist anymore?
  8. Orioles Hangout is not taking this trade very well lmao
  9. Makes sense for all four to take the 22 mil IMO. Grisham – I am curious what it signals for the Yankees. In some ways I think it makes Tucker a more viable option for them instead of falling back on Belli. Or do they just keep Dominguez? Woodruff – Only 120 innings over three years and the velocity dip last year meant he probably wasn't getting much more than this. A rebound season could set him up for a solid multi year deal. Imanaga – Good call for him. The Cubs are pretty cheap, so this eats into their offseason budget. Torres – The market is cold on him, so locking in 22 mil was smart. The Tigers are also cheap, and with one shaky defensive middle infielder already, it is hard to see them chasing Bo despite some speculation. Michael King and Zac Gallen aren't that much better than these 4 but rejected it. Will be interesting to see how they do.
  10. I wonder what Grisham returning to the Yanks means for them. On one hand, it does tie up more of their payroll. On the other hand, I thought that Bellinger was probably a better fit for them than Tucker because Belli can play CF. Now that Grisham is in the fold for another year, they could just play him in CF for one more year and turn to Tucker to play a corner spot. Or they could just forget both Tucker and Belli and go with Dominguez in LF.
  11. If Brownie Jr. is going to make the big leagues then dear old dad is going to have to step up his game. Time to empty out that retirement account and start making some risky calls and puts. Junior's MLB career is on the line.
  12. The inverse is also true. Why give the Rays something when you can turn around and sign him (or a comparable talent) in FA for similar terms to what his option would have been? That way you won't get tarred and feathered when the Rays take an 18 year old lotto ticket off your hands who turns into a 3 WAR player
  13. Anytime Jim disagrees you know you are on the right track👍
  14. I'm going to get tarred and feathered for this, BUT if Bo REALLY wants to stay at SS and it makes the difference in signing here or not I'd tell him he can have SS for the upcoming season but nothing is guaranteed beyond that. You guys are going to hate this, but in theory, whatever is to be gained by Bo moving from SS (poor defense) to 2B (solid) is probably negated by whatever is lost from Gimenez moving from 2B (god-like) to SS (above average). In other words, it's kind of a zero sum game and probably doesn't matter that much.
  15. Dumpster Divin'
  16. I didn't realize how good and consistent Iglesias has been throughout his career. He's been a reliever for 10 years now and has put up at least 1 WAR with a FIP lower than 3.30 in every single year except way back in 2018 (4.23 FIP that year but a 2.38 ERA). You could probably get him on a one year deal and I'd be down for that.
  17. You love to see your division rival lock up a 26-man roster spot on a 5.00 FIP pitcher this early in free agency
  18. If someone gives Tucker a megacontract it will be because they convinced themselves that (1) he would have been an ~8 WAR player the past two years until those seasons were derailed by injury, (2) those injuries were flukes and he's likely to be healthy moving forward, and (3) 1 and 2 mean he's more like a 6 WAR player moving forward not a 4 WAR player. I don't even think it's that far fetched to think all of the above, but gambling that a player's health will improve as he gets older is a very dangerous game. For that reason, it's better to not stray too far away from the projections.
  19. I highly doubt that the Mets let Diaz walk. Maybe they wouldn't match a 5 year offer but that would be outrageous for us to give him that.
