    I just want everyone to know that I was on Jace Bohrofen long before Spanky was. If he breaks out I deserve the credit, not Spanky. Holy s*** these are "bold" predictions not borderline impossible Spanky.

    I think it's a smart move to bring him up and then option him after he throws a multi-inning game for a fresh arm.

    "The Cardinal Way" included all the platitudes like high character players who hustled. But it also included embracing analytics and developing young talent. It seems like they've let the latter stagnate while still embracing the former and it's led to a stale front office. They are still building the team like it's 2008-2012. Some of those things still work with their trades and FA signings and even a little player development here and there. But they badly need an update.

    Pop and Zulu are annoying. Both have good stuff but Pop can't command his slider and Zulu can't command anything. Agree on Little. Lefty with that kind of stuff and 3 options is a nice guy to have around.

    I would want to keep Pop as well. He's only got 1 pitch but he's shown that he can be useful enough to keep around while he has options. He's only a year older than Zulu who still has wild control issues that don't seem to be getting better at all.

    Agree on Danner. After switching from Catcher he also dealt with a torn UCL so he only has 80 professional innings but he's looked good in that short time frame.

    I would like to take a page out of Jim's book here and go on record as an owner of Ohtani in a dynasty league: I believe everything he said today 100%. End the witch hunt and let this man get back to being the greatest baseball player since Babe Ruth.

    It's definitely a thing! It's just not always up to the victim. But if the victim doesn't want to press charges and the victim isn't going to be a motivated witness for the prosecution it can definitely play a factor.

    It's not up to the victim on whether or not the cops end up charging someone. For low level stuff like a fight the cops will take the victim's wishes heavily into consideration. For stealing 4.5M? Not really sure but they probably will pursue charges. Ohtani probably just wants this all to go away as well. So if the interpreter has a clean record, I agree that they might give him a slap on the wrist and just send him back to Japan. Or maybe they give him a year in the clink or something.

    Agreed. He would be a warm body for 2 weeks is all under that scenario. Would save the 40-man spot and guaranteeing the 2 mil to Vogelbach. But it's all moot, Votto got hurt and won't be ready. Vogelbach made the team and now has a chance to mash his way into keeping the job.

    Agreed. But if Votto was looking good and a mid-April callup seemed imminent then it made sense to just go with Lukes (optionable and already on the 40-man) instead of having to clear another 40-man spot for Vogelbach while guaranteeing him 2 mil.

    In all seriousness, any time a minor league signing like Vogelbach sees the team sign a future hall of famer to the same position you can't help but think his days are limited. Votto's rolled ankle is worse than we thought (still isn't playing) and had to have helped Vogelbach. But Vogelbach does project well and the team must seem hellbent on having a lefty bat with some thump on the bench. With versatile utility players up and down the roster it makes sense. Also, it seems like this org places a high priority on being a player friendly org. I'm sure when Vogelbach signed, certain promises and guarantees were made to him regarding giving him a fair shot to make the team and things like that. Pulling the rug out from underneath him in the last minute would cut against that.

    I guarantee you that it was Danny Burgers that placed the bat in the dugout that Votto rolled his ankle on. He saw Votto take Wheeler deep on the first pitch and knew he had to do something.

    Congrats to you and all the other Danny Burgers fanboys on your guy making the team. But mark my words, his days are limited because Joey Votto is coming and there is nothing that fat ass can do to stop it.

    Spanky was wrong but his logic was right. It’s not his fault Atkins made the wrong decision.

    Idk I’ve barely paid attention to the spring games. I was just basing it off Vogelbach making the team because I know he can’t play the field.

    Yeah they probably won’t worry about replacing the lefty with a lefty. Still have Cabrera and Richards has reverse splits.

    If Gausman were out for a significant period of time then I could see Tiedemann perhaps being in the mix. But if Gausman only misses a start or two then I think you'd see Wes Parsons or Mitch White get a shot. Tiedemann is better but he's not on the 40-man yet and those two are so it'd be easier to just go with one of them in the short term.

    Sort of but he could just take 9M in 2024 dollars and he’d be getting basically the same amount of money as taking 12 mil with deferred money. Due to inflation a dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future. So in the end he signed a contract for 1 year worth 9M in 2024 dollars. And the Mets are getting hit with a tax burden based on that 9M.

    Yep, as we learned from the Ohtani deal the total number is all fugazi by the time it’s watered down with the deferrals. I don’t even know why players are doing it. Ohtani wanted the 700M number for some reason but he really got 460M. It’s the same s*** with JDM just on a much smaller scale. It’s weird at first but when you wrap your head around it, it just doesn’t matter.
