  1. Otto Lopez was DFA'd by the Giants
  2. Yeah but that's more of a product of the AL East being a beast. The Orioles barely project any better. Even so, I do think it's a mark against Atkins that he has this big payroll but we only have a coin flip chance at the playoffs. But still, this isn't some dreaded start like people would have you believe. We split a 4 game set at the Trop. Last year I think we went 3-11 versus the Rays.
  3. I was thinking more along the lines of 5 games not swaying anyone's thinking. The Atkins haters can keep on hating and the qualified defenders (I don't think anyone is a full-throated supporter on here) can hold the line as well. This is by far the most difficult portion of our schedule all season. Go 4-6 or better and then come home and hopefully the park changes even things out and we see these guys hit their projections.
  4. Well the good news is that it's 5 games lol It's such a small sample size that it doesn't change the projections at all One good game and you could basically throw all of this out
  5. Yeah his stuff graded out well and against a lesser lineup he might be okay with throwing some meatballs every once in a while. He buckled down and got through 5+ despite getting rocked early. His xFIP was 3.10. He could definitely still be a #5 SP.
  6. Francis' stuff graded out well.
  7. G1: 8-2 W G2: 2-8 L G3: 1-5 L G4: 9-2 W G5: 0-10 L and no-hit
  8. He barely threw this change up last year.
  9. Good grief he’s only at 91 pitches
  10. He needs to get the ball higher. Very top of zone or higher. That Diaz homer happened but most guys can’t hit that.
  11. What's also interesting is that Clement is playing SS over IKF and not only that but he's batting 6th and IKF is batting 8th. If he gets the nod when the harder defensive position is available to play, and he also bats higher when they are both in the lineup, then isn't that perhaps an admission that they think Clement is the better player? So why play IKF over Clement when Bo is available?
  12. I’d like to see Babe Schneider play in this park. That short porch in LF is made for him.
  13. Look Dean, you come on a message board and name yourself DeanMike you are getting called Dean. Do you prefer Mike? I could call you Mr. Mike if you prefer but tbh it seems like Dean has stuck at this point.
  14. Who is the backup CFer in that scenario?
  15. Congrats on Rhys Hoskins logging a couple of games at 1B Dean Good job buddy
  16. Francis better bring his A game tomorrow the Astros are going to be pissed after getting swept by the Yankees
  17. At this point it should be a last resort or mid game if it calls for it. If we get some injuries then perhaps it would make more sense.
  18. He seems to be capable of making adjustments year to year so he might have more juice left
  19. Yeah that's fair. The nice thing about KK though is that he also serves as the backup CFer which allows us to carry all these infielders on the roster (including Schneider who hit a homer while manning LF today). If we signed someone like Teo or Pham, then we'd also need a backup CFer unless we planned on using Springer there. Having all this versatility is going to pay off over the course of the season, including today. It also allows the team to cast a wider net. If Clement balls out, IKF can be a UT bench player. If Schneider turns into a legit LF power threat, KK can be a traditional 4th OF. Then there is all the shuffling that will happen when injuries occur.
  20. Turner is outproducing all of them so far so maybe they tried and succeeded? Time will tell but the early returns on the offseason are very promising. The only valid black mark to this point is that Ernie Clement is so damn good that he makes IKF's paltry 7.5M a year look like a waste.
  21. This team is just clicking on all cylinders
  22. A 2-2 split at the Trop is a 3-1 start against anyone else This team is legit
  23. lol and right on cue IKF with a web gem to end the game God he looks good
  24. No it was much worse Basically Spanky and I were the voice of reason meanwhile nearly everyone else was losing their minds, the usual dipshits and the board regulars alike Meanwhile: Justin Turning Back the Clock Kinder Falafel is batting .333 on the season with a .400 OBP but people are still complaining because he’s not as good as Ernie Clement We are on the verge of a split at the Trop (with a positive run differential) I could go on but the team looks incredible
