  1. One of the most articulate, honest and interesting things I've read penned by an athlete.
  2. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/the-north-norman-powell-toronto-raptors-basketball-nba
  3. He's annoying and high strung but I don't see what's so bad about that guy. I'd rather deal with someone like this who is upfront and does what he says rather than some lazy liar who makes a bunch of promises to do stuff and never does them. There's a lot more of those type of people than Hillenbrand types.
  4. Sounds like they are actively trying to increase SB attempts. I wonder if this is an attempt to increase the "excitement" of the game. I must admit I enjoyed every time Rajai Davis made it to first and kind of miss that.
  5. Josh Towers says hi.
  6. Probably 80% of my Jays viewership came over the radio over the last 5 years as I'm up at my cottage a lot during the summer. And I expect that to be near 100% going forward since I quit TV service at my home. This is ********. But I have to say this is not just a cost cutting measure. I think this is a deliberate move to reduce the quality of free access to Blue Jays broadcasts. They want everyone subscribing to Rogers cable and Sportsnet. I'm quite sure that they absolutely won't tell Buck and Tabler to make their commentary more radio friendly.
  7. I think this person's argument is getting mixed up in being against cancel culture. If this was some nobody on Twitter yapping dumb s*** and a horde of SJWs decided to dox the guy and cost him his job, then yes I'm against that. But this is not what happened. This was from the mouth of the CEO of an MLB team, one of only 30 prestigious positions available in the world. He embarrassed his team and his sport. This cancel culture exemption stance shouldn't apply to people in power. If we let society go down this rabbit hole of unchallenged nonsense from people with power with no consequences, hiding behind the guise of telling it like it is and free speech, you're just going to get more and more Trudeaus and Trumps leading things. People in power deserve more scrutiny for what they say and do, not less.
  8. Damn this stupid mainstream media reporting on COVID. I'm a loner and a sociopath so this has no relevance to me. How dare they report on something that might be of interest to other people.
  9. Please Masai, do not cave and trade Powell in any Drummond deal. The Raptors are better off going small if these past two games are any indication.
  10. That's another way of saying the Jays have some decent options and a good bench. The team won't be gifting 600 PA to below replacement level players this year assuming normal health. That'll be a refreshing change.
  11. If Grishuk is the biggest problem the Jays have on offense - and judging by the non-stop whining about his contract on here, he is - then the Jays don't really have a problem on offense. Neither Grishuk's production nor his contract for that production have been that bad. Not in the past and not the projections. Whether he is a starter or a bench player who still likely has over 500 PA this year. Imagine the amount of weeping and gnashing of teeth there would be over bad contracts if this was an Angels fan board.
  12. You're like the guy who gets an iPhone 12 but keeps all his old phones. The Jays, or any good team with a deep bench, have absolutely no use for that guy. P.S. I came up with that analogy because I still have all my old phones.
  13. The real life version of Bauer versus no name college chick happened a few days ago when LeBron got some slut wife kicked out of a game for bad mouthing him and defending her bald meatball geriatric husband for also mouthing off. You either side with both athletes or side with the nobodies in both incidents. If you agree with one and disagree with the other, then your politics or biased world view is getting in the way. With that being said, the whiny look on LeBron's face...we don't know what Bauer's facial expressions were while he was posting on Twitter so he does have that advantage.
  14. Osuna 25 years old, just when most players have started their MLB career. He's already a journeyman veteran with somewhat notable stats and might be done.
  15. A call for Pete Rose to be in the HOF while excluding other players on moral grounds is a strange stance to take imo. I mean, completely ignoring that he broke the one black and white rule for participation in the MLB, he's kind of a shady person as well. Between Schilling and Rose, I think Schilling is slightly better. He's a bigmouth and a wannabe online troll but he doesn't actually do anything that bad. Now if you want to make an argument that Rose belongs in the HOF because his status as all-time hits leader gives him priority or a lower bar for "personal" issues over someone like Schilling who is a pretty forgettable pitcher by HOF standards, that might be something.
  16. Just goes to show you how financially illiterate people are. Cohen didn't lose $2.7 billion. Melvin Capital did. Of which Cohen had $1 billion in there. Melvin lost 30%, so Cohen lost a few hundred million. He then put in $2.7 billion to bail the hedge fund out, likely at vulture prices. He'll make his money the instant the fund rebounds 10%. His loss comes from thousands of people trolling him with only Mets fans for support. He tried, and failed, to be the next cool rich guy on social media. He did have that one up on Heyman though so he will always have that.
  17. Putting my personal opinions about these things aside, what does Kathy Griffin and Colin Kaepernick have to do with the MLB HOF? Maybe the voters don't like those people either, but they aren't on the ballot so they can't vote for/against them. Unfortunately conservatives have become the masters at conflation and whataboutism. Schilling belongs in the HOF and I don't think anything he said should disqualify him from that, but whining about Kaepernick getting a Nike deal while being blackballed from the NFL is not a strong argument for his case. At least compare Schilling with some players in Cooperstown.
  18. Schilling not doing himself any favours by acting this away. Him requesting to be taken off the ballot is this forum's equivalent of people asking to be banned instead of, you know, just leaving.
  19. This makes a lot of sense for both sides. Jays just need that short term help for this year, Semien needs a place where he can rake and try again next year for a big contract. Semien profiles as the type of guy like Encarnacion or Bautista who could break out here plus being surrounded by a strong offense and maybe playing in the Dome (or some minor league bandbox) will really rack up the counting stats. I can see why both sides wanted to get this thing done.
  20. Are we still pushing this narrative? Pretty sure that the mental midgets who think Canada sucks would also think the "Democratically-run U.S. cities" also suck. Other than SoCal and New York and Miami for the Cubans I don't see the average U.S. city being at that much of an advantage over Toronto. The average team is supposed to sign 1 out of every 30 coveted free agents (or 1 out of 26 back in the 80's). I'm reasonably sure that the Blue Jays have outperformed that average over the franchise's history. The lasting Ricciardi/Godfrey legacy on this franchise is the effective brainwashing of the fan base to think that the Jays just can't compete with the big bad New Yorkers. It was never an issue for Gillick, Beeston, AA and I'm optimistic it's not an issue for Shapiro or Atkins either.
  21. Hell, they should just give a participation point for each team that makes it to the 9th then end the game with a home run derby. That'll fix up the problem of having 79-83 teams making the playoffs too because those teams will be 79-73-10 instead. Works great for the NHL!
  22. This guy is disgusting but why is the conversation around the word "foreign" equating to "desperate to get into the United States and the guy took advantage of that"? She could be from Japan or South Korea which aren't exactly dick-suck-for-green-card level of countries to emigrate from. Latin America, maybe depending on the country.
  23. It's almost as if your hometown being a 5 hour plane ride away from Toronto doesn't qualify it as a hometown discount candidate!

This is the most aggressively positive I've ever seen Krylian on any Toronto or Canadian sports team. Pretty sure his little brother hacked his account and wrote this.
