  1. I like this, though teams will game the hell out of it by constantly recycling jobber pen arms from their AAAA squad.
  2. Instead of banning the shift, I'd ban players and coaches who weren't smart enough to make adjustments to...you know...NOT hit the ball to the place with 6 fielders? Every single time there's a shift for a left-handed hitter, bunt it up the third base line. Do it 100 times if you have to until the teams get the point.
  3. As long as it's in the redneck part of Oregon and not in the commie-hippie-BLM-overtaken part (Portland). Those people don't deserve anything good like an MLB team. Nashville can take the Rays team if not Montreal.
  4. Sign him if he promises to go into the HOF as a Jay. We need some equalization on that front with what has happened.
  5. Since we're 90% there already I suggest the mods open up the free-for-all in this thread for politics and let forbidden named like Tr*** and Tr***** be spoken. Since both of them are way less creepy than Jim and he hasn't been cancelled yet.
  6. Frank Thomas could probably bench press two of you sitting at each end of a barbell when he was 14 years old. The man was always massive even when he first came on the scene. The cheating he did was called DNA.
  7. Yes. Though I'm sure somewhere someone currently in the organization is drafting something to make Beeston the easy scapegoat. Just in case it comes up.
  8. The purpose of re-hashing this thread was....? Showing the majority who were lukewarm at best about this deal that they were wrong and Roark has been worse than mediocre? Unlike Matz, no one was predicting or expecting some hidden, untapped upside here.
  9. The Level Of Excellence is a pure marketing tool. There is no value to it other than what us as fans think of it. It's not a World Series banner, plaque in the HOF or even a retired jersey. IIRC, the Jays were the team to start with that thing, as an alternative to the tradition of retiring jersey numbers. Therefore if the Jays figure it has more value to fans without Alomar's name than with it, it makes sense to take his name off.
  10. We don't know the details behind the investigation, only that it exists. That's why some people want to wait to pass judgement until it's in the courts. At least there is some standard of evidence that would be consistent with other cases in what could be a "he said, she said" case. DNA evidence, video, witnesses, a proven pattern of behaviour etc.
  11. Freedom of speech: 1. The Blue Jays and the MLB have a right to make their own thresholds for what defines violating rules of conduct and act accordingly. 2. Each individual has the right to their own threshold for determining their opinion on the matter and support or not support the Jays and MLB's decision. This has nothing to do with proving guilt or innocence in court, though plenty of people are within their rights to have that as their threshold.
  12. Well at least Alomar is in the HOF. Can't kick him out. But, you know, let's keep Clemens, Bonds, Schilling etc. out for...reasons. If this ends up being true, shame on him and he deserves what he gets, legally. If it's some false ********, I'm going to up my penny stock trading game for the sole purpose of becoming a multi-billionaire and buying out Rogers just so I can force a reversal of this decision to turn him into the Jays version of Chris Benoit.
  13. Yes. Though it occurred to me after typing this out that this increase in viewership could just be cannibalizing traditional cable sources.
  14. LOL all of Manfred's throwing random s*** on the wall actually worked. Or at least that's how the MLB office is going to interpret this data. My guess is that every season that follows some half-assed 60 game pandemic season is going to do quite well.
  15. Gary Trent is very good against bad teams. Thing is, the East has 10 bad teams. I think when teams in opposing conferences do trades that appear fair, they need to adjust for conference schedules.
  16. I love how this team is somehow 3-1, four games on the road, three in Yankee stadium and the offense near the bottom in the league. The pitching staff is really stepping up its game and when the offense gets going this could be fun.
  17. Trent sure is doing his best to make us forget Powell lol. At least to us normal fans not in the "tank for lottery pick" camp. Raptors extending their league-leading playoff streak once Houston falls off has far more value to me than high picks. These guys know how to draft in the late rounds.
  18. Without Jansen behind the plate calling the pitches Merryweather probably doesn't strike out 3. Plus Jansen was 1/3 at the plate on the day at the time. You Kirk fanboys just have to stop with the mockery and sarcasm.
  19. Now you may never not make these threads. 162-0. See what you have stepped into.
  20. This is gonna be payback for about two decades worth of whining from the "shoulda traded JD a year earlier" crowd.
  21. Threadworthy because of troll potential on this forum: https://www.bookmaker.eu/articles/baseball/mlb/mlb-american-league-manager-of-the-year-odds-98223
  22. I'm guessing the Mets found some money manager off of Reddit while Cohen was being trolled by the GME people. Just like they found Madoff and they figured they can invest their way out of Bobby Bonilla overpays.
  23. If they lose this game you'll be 10 times more hated on here.
