  1. Don't forget Travis Snider. But some of these examples aren't great. I'm sure exactly no one regretted Lawrie or Barreto being traded. It's not the quality of the player being traded that people worry about. It's the context of the trade and the return. Most people understand that quality must be given up to get quality back, except the Mike Trout for Ryan Goins, Brian Tallett and John McDonald trade suggestion type of people.
  2. "MLB players are boring and have no character" This: "What a crybaby, I hope he gets suspended". Come on, the umpire had a smirk on his face. Romo was being overdramatic for the laughs.
  3. What I find the most hilarious are the two teams at the top of this list...like...you needed help to be this bad?
  4. I can kind of understand the use of the relievers during garbage time today. Trying to gather some more info to see where they place in the pecking order behind the three guys who pitched in Miami without much risk to the game's outcome.

Each team faced the same 6-7 teams a bunch of times this year. This year would certainly be an exception to the norm if there is one.
  6. Martin is most certainly on the table and where I would dangle him first is towards the Marlins or some other team with controllable pitching. Adding at the trade deadline doesn't have to mean trading prospects for veterans.

The fourth seed in the North division took out the (tied for) "best team" in the league in six games. Conclusion: the North division was significantly underrated. So the Habs are now 12-5 when things count the most and no participation points are given for getting into overtime. Is that enough for people to concede that they aren't a mediocre team and belong exactly where they should be?

I was 11 years old and maybe our media blew it out of proportion but I do recall a significant anti-Canadian sentiment for the 1992 World Series. I also recall a lot more clearly around 15-20 years ago there was a poll done about which teams should be contracted or moved. The Expos were clear #1 which unfortunately made sense. The Jays were #2, ahead of the Florida teams, the A's, the Pirates and any other team that could be considered in a worse market and have greater financial struggles than the Jays. They don't think Canadians are worthy of *their* pastime, we should feel the same way about hockey.

When every NHL team south of Colorado is wiped off the face of the earth, maybe then I'll think like that. I'll cheer sports the way I want, and you can cheer whatever lame way you think makes sense. Go Habs.
  10. Siakam for Ben Simmons. If that trade is on the table, would you pull the trigger? EDIT: Plus cash. Holy f*** I didn't know Simmons' contract was that bad.
  11. I just wanted to see Philly lose because of the Trust the Process and AMC dumb shits. The Hawks were my Joe Biden.
  12. Every starter who is pitching well should go 7+ innings. That'll help alleviate the pressure off the pen. Avoiding the third time around the line-up only works when your BP is good. There is absolutely no reason Ryu, Matz or Ray should be taken out after the 5th inning.
  13. Toronto Blue Jays all-time record: 3,448-3,517 Runs for - 32,223 Runs against - 32,070 This team has always had issues with blowing close games and inefficient distribution of runs. Before my time, but one thing I heard from the pre-Henke days in the early 80's is that the bullpens were hot garbage. Maybe the Jays should have fired Bobby Cox back in 1983 for his poor BP decisions?
  14. Just checking in for the moronic whining. The BP sucks. Well, it doesn't really suck, it's just been exposed. Luckily with the starting rotation piecing it together I expect that exposure to decline and the BP to look better going forward. Also, one run. One freaking run after 13 home runs in the two games prior. Maybe we should blame the bats for lack of consistency?

I find it funny that the stat nerds mock the NHL for possibly "not having the best teams in the final". The best teams to me are the ones that can win when winning matters most. Not collecting a lot of points when you get participation trophies just for making it to OT. The best team has three chances to lose before being knocked off. If they lose four games out of seven, they aren't the best team.

Of course yes. Especially against a desert party town expansion team.
  17. Fire Montoyo for not convincing the Marlins to take Garcia out of the game.
  18. This is what happens when you have an overtaxed bullpen and a shaky starting staff. Pages and pages of whining about the manager when any number of decisions could have been made in that final Cleveland game. Relieve Matz after a clean 5th. Then if the BP s*** the bed in the 6th, there would be bitching he took him out to soon. This board was fapping over Chatwood and whining about him being replaced by Bergen 72 hours ago. Well now Charlie gave you guys exactly what you wanted and it's still not good enough! Seems that he should be following the advice of the BJMB armchair QBs LESS, not more. Do you want to know what will make Montoyo look good? Manoah being the miracle pitcher who can replace one of the trash guys at the end of the rotation.
  19. Cue my occasional reminder that Josh Towers is third all-time in K/BB rate out of all qualified Jays pitchers.
  20. I'll start crapping on the Yankees if/when the Jays are projected to have a better chance at a playoff spot than them.
  21. This post reminds me of that one guy who used to post here often. Every single one of his posts was s***ing on the four A.L. East rivals or talking about their worst case scenarios while ridiculously positive on the Jays. To a comical effect. Thanks for bringing back fond memories of that guy.

The Leafs are such a chumpy team. Takes a 7th game to try to dispose of probably the worst team in the playoffs.
  23. The Blue Jays have come from behind all year. Then when the BP blows a couple of games to even that out a bit the talk is all fire Montoyo again. The problem is the starting rotation outside of Ryu sucks. And that is putting undue pressure on the bullpen, which is mostly a patchwork of also-rans outperforming their career trajectory as it is. This is on the FO for doing a half-assed job of addressing the starting staff this past offseason when they clearly had the financial flexibility and assets to make something happen. You can blame Montoyo for some questionable decisions on offense, but he's clearly being left holding the bag on pitching.
  24. Been busy and profitable. I still hate Trudeau but I admit I don't make f*** all under CPC leadership and I do under Liberals (started out well in the early 2000's until 2007 too). My inconsistent posting stems from two forces: 1. Being busy 2. My insight and opinions are not valuable enough for me to bother making time to post a lot on here. The internet could do well if more people held this belief. Yes Jays are awesome. I don't want to jinx anything by enforcing undue excitement. The hitters are solid but that pitching is a brittle house of cards and I don't want to be the one blowing on it lest it comes crumbling down. These baboons here already started a Manoah versus Pearson thread and you know it's going to turn out just like the Stroman versus Sanchez thread so RIP Manoah. On a side note, maybe you feel spoiled like I do when it comes to pitching prospects. Back when I started being a fan from Stottlemyre through to Halladay, basically every pitching prospect worth a damn made some kind of significant impact. The only ones that busted were the ones the Jays traded lol. Lieter was the only really frustrating one. Since then it's been Stroman and a bunch of guys that maybe had one good year. Two for Romero. This team's ability to produce good pitchers has gone down the toilet and our future in the near term is 40-60% bullpen games.
