  1. I'd be happy if Hutchison pitched effectively here until 2026.
  2. If I ever become not lazy enough to find out how Lafrentz54 changed his name to L54, I'm totally gonna go with DP69.
  3. It's amazing the amount of awesome and totally appopriate gifs you find under the Google image search of "Orioles sad":
  4. You are the one coming on to this forum with 31 posts just to complain about it, as if your complaints will make an iota of difference to the outcome. Either accept the terms of reality (compensation, if any, will be meager) or move on from bluejaysmessageboard.com
  5. LOL I like this Orioles guy. He's talking as if Dan Duquette's contract is enforced under the collective bargaining agreement between the MLB and MLBPA. I wonder how much the Jays would have to pay if they wanted to get Jim Rutherford from the Penguins? Or Bob Myers from the Warriors? Or perhaps Rogers needs to send Bell Marcus Stroman to sweep the floors as compensation when they poach Bell's entire janitorial team? In reality it's pretty much this:
  6. All those extra muscles sure helped his pitch selection while at the plate. Maybe the roids gave him eagle-like vision.
  7. See, that's different. You find him annoying. Catering to a entire population of viewers, there's bound to be a few who don't like him. There's nothing to debate between yourself and people who don't mind Zaun because he just gets under your skin which is a fair opinion to have. The people who are calling him dumb are the ones who I'm referencing. There's some proof to show that he's not dumb, at least when it comes to baseball: 1. His career, particularly with the Jays was productive beyond his actual talent. 2. Whatever he has done as a broadcaster/commentator, it was pleasing enough to get a 5-year extension so he's smart enough to figure out the majority of his audience/what the Sportsnet bigwigs are looking for.
  8. It's interesting how the broadcast team can illicit more bemoaning than who manages the team because that somehow "doesn't matter" but the broadcast team does. It's as if these people just got out of a DeLorean from 1985 and think there is only one way to watch baseball. If you really hate the broadcast team that much ---> MLB.tv Enough with the Zaun-hating too. The man is treated as if he is some of knuckle-dragging zombie. If any of you youngsters are old enough to remember back to the mid-2000's Zaun basically took his piece of s*** career as a journeyman back up to become mostly the #1 catcher for this team while in his mid-30's, racking up 10.7 WAR in 5 seasons including 3.5 WAR in the one year he exceeded 500 PA. And he did that by playing the game smart and making the best of his abilities with a nearly 1:1 K:BB ratio, good defense and league average OPS which is great for a catcher. Actions speak louder than words imo and the man knows how to play the game right. He just acts like a dumb brute because he likes trolling the hardcore fans and catering to the casuals so Sportsnet signs him to 5-year extensions. The man is a lot smarter than what some people give him credit for.
  9. Then let's hope that the Strasburg to Jays thoughts die right there. Washington just laid down over $200 million for a starter when they already had a pretty set rotation. And now they are entertaining offers for the guy who was supposed to be the face of the franchise on the mound. Perhaps they are just trying to fill holes on their offense or maybe they know something internally about Strasburg over and above the well known injury history that would suggest to them selling high now is a good move. I do not like the chances of the acquiring team being happy with how the trade turns out.
  10. Actually the dude kinda looks like Rainn Wilson after he realizes that his new show is never going to live up to the popularity of The Office and he goes insane.
  11. You do realize that at this level of hiring you are dealing mostly with Rogers right? Not so much the Toronto Blue Jays franchise itself. I got two spam phone calls from a number that I know is Rogers looking to upgrade my internet service today, and many over the past few weeks. My mom pays about $60/month for s***** cable service that she complains about all the time. There are also many, many people complaining about their outrageous Rogers cell phone bill. In all this time that Rogers has managed to irritate or alienate thousands of Canadians in an attempt to extract as much money from them as possible, their stock price has still under-performed their peers and the market at large over the last several years. So whatever wrongs you think Rogers has done to you and your precious Orioles, I say good, it's about time you Yankee bastards feel the wrath of Rogers Communications Incorporated!
  12. The best times are when I say s*** like this in person too
  13. Ok, let the Americans and democracy in and enjoy your McDonald's, gangs, cocaine, gun fights, steroids in your farm animals and chance to vote your choice of two hacks to the US government every 4 years. My regret is that I'll never get a chance to shake Fidel's hand. Don't care about Raul, he's a pussy in by nepotism.
  14. bah...we'll still outlive you...young f***er...you're the childhood obesity generation
  15. This is bad news for me. I prefer an oppressive regime that keeps the week-long all inclusive vacations there cheap and American-free. I also like the lack of economic opportunity so Cubans have to make a living by kissing my Canadian ass two weeks out of every year. Cuba has some of the best preserved natural habitat in the world because of the lack of development and the fact that the people get thrown into prisons if they do something like kill a cow or eat lobster without the government's permission first. I can live without the dozen or so extra Puigs that would make it to the MLB. Now I'll prepare for some whiny liberal to complain about how mean I am hoping that the Cuban population remains oppressed and without democracy with the irony being that Trudeau having been such pals with Castro is part of the reason why this "communist" regime has survived for as long as it has.
  16. ...and all you need is MLB to expand the roster size to 27 to make your example work. I'm also having a hard time believing one can expect a combined 12.3 WAR from Lawrie, Rasmus and Morrow going forward in 2015 by cherry picking their 2012 and 2013 seasons and keep a straight face while doing it.
  17. 1000 IP is a stretch but 600+ IP from Dickey, MB and Hutch is a solid bet. Then it all depends on how Stroman and #5 guy do but 900 IP seems achievable. The problem with Hutchison being jeckyl and hyde has as much to do with his supporting cast as it does with him. A young pitcher coming off of surgery with a K an inning and 185 IP in his first full season. An improved catcher supporting him and (hopefully) better defense behind him. I like my chances of a big year from him. If you just replace Navarro with Martin for Hutch's 2014 season how much better would his stats be with the exact same pitch count? Probably over 200 K's and several more IP with half a run shaved off the ERA.
  18. Huh? Morrow was barely a contributor last year so how can you include him. Might as well just say he left in 2013 and call it a day. Navarro being traded will bring a piece in. Janssen will either be resigned or someone will be signed to replace him (same with McGowan). And you still forgot Lind.
  19. I'm sure he's got one of those old school computers with a big floppy disk for his pinball game. Probably goes bragging about it in the clubhouse as well. PS replace the s with c in disk in this sentence and have a laugh re-reading it.
  20. lol you f***ing crybabies and your old board. Like checking up an old gf on facebook just to make sure she's gotten fat and nasty. People just need to man up and admit what they thought about the trade so no one feels the need to go back to the old board for verification. I wasn't a huge fan of the trade but I loved what it represented - the Jays willing to spend to field a winner. MB was actually my least favourite of the three big players when he's been the most useful and I thought Bonafacio would bring some needed speed and positional variability to the team when all be brought was buffoonery.
  21. When looking at the Gomes trade in isolation it seems like no big deal at the time, but it was a very irritating move in the broader context. Nobody cared about Gomes at the time because we were all slobbering over d'Arnaud. In a matter of a few weeks AA traded 3 of the team's 4 top catchers, kept what turned out to be the worst one of the four and got Thole in return. Had we all known what was going to go down in the following weeks I'm sure a few of us would have pointed out "hey, we should probably keep Gomes just in case". The Marlins trade was a big investment and big gamble that blew up in his face. But at least it had a purpose. Like someone who lays down $1M for a condo in downtown Toronto that's going to be worth half that in a few years but can at least live in their poor investment. Dumping Yan Gomes was like taking a $5 bill and burning it. A small move but completely pointless and it turned out costly. He was traded for a guy who was in the discount bin a few months before. I'm sure Cleveland would have taken any number of non-MLB players off the Jays hands for him that didn't play catcher.
  22. Please forward to: john.gibbons@rci.rogers.com
  23. I think Happ will do well in Seattle. Saunders was a wasted asset there and Happ was a useful but excess asset here. Both teams win this trade imo.
  24. The latinos won't be too happy! But in all fairness, AA did send the "skinheadiest" looking guy on this roster to Seattle in this trade.
