  1. I know....I saw that signing...and 7 million. Seems like a win for the Jays!
  2. The Mets are into the luxury tax already and their rotation is Degrom, Walker, Carrasco, Megill, Peterson. Degrom is obviously amazing, but where's his health at? The Mets might have to spend what the Dodgers did last year just to be competitive. How is it possible to have a 230 million dollar payroll and that's your rotation.
  3. We just need to sign someone. Last season no one was spending money. This year the Yankees and Sox seem willing to spend again. The dodgers are always there. The Angels are pushing and then teams like Texas, Seattle, Miami, the Giants all have a crap ton of money to spend.
  4. Me too...although if we had signed him for that deal, I'm not sure take too much issue with it. I'd rather we put all our eggs in a bigger basket. The problem is there are so many buyers out there unlike last year. Will we land one of the bigger fish?
  5. I know...Andrew Miller was one of the most dominant relievers for 6 straight years and at age 33 it was just gone. Loup is 34 next year. I highly doubt he will be able to give up so few homers next year. He was really good last year, but I'm glad the Angels signed him and not us.
  6. Seems like a fair deal to me. He's had up and down years. He's headed into his age 32 season. There's been a few injuries. Steamer has him at 1.9 wins next year. Matz should probably get the same deal.
  7. That's what people said about Ray, Gausman and Matz at one point. All 3 are getting nice deals. Looks like Ray is coming back to the Jays! If only that was the real Ken Rosenthal that tweeted that!
  8. I keep circling back to Carlos Martinez. 20 innings in a covid year where he had oblique problems. I just throw that out. Last year he had the ankle injury and the thumb issue. The thumb could have been something that had bothered him for a while effecting performance. He's an intriguing by low candidate. Can he get the velocity back? Can Pete work his magic. Martinez has a very live arm.
  9. He probably gets taken, but is also probably returned like 90% of players are. The one big mistake we made was Romano in 2018. Reading old articles before the draft they even highlighted Romano as a guy who could potential be transitioned to the bullpen where he might be a decent reliever. Texas, thankfully returned him at the end of training camp!
  10. A quick google and I found a tweet from 2018 that said league average with 2 strikes was .151/.159/225. I'm not sure what it was this year, but if you look at Bo's 2 strike numbers, he's better than that.
  11. With the tarp on, the snow actually helps as an insulator to keep the field from freezing. They are removing the snow now and taking the tarp off. The snow should has stopped and the wind is going to go down a bit, but the weather network still has it at 22kms at kickoff. -8 at kickoff feeling like -16 with the wind chill.....ooh...baby those Mexicans aren't going to like it!
  12. If they are going with a back 3...you probably nailed it. I think they might go with a back 4. Whether it's a back 3 or 4 I'd have Osorio back in the lineup. I'm tempted to put a more physical Henry in for Vitoria, especially with Vitoria on a yellow. Henry is a scary dude. He can make some boneheaded plays, but when he gets it right he can be very good. He was really good against Mexico in the gold cup. I'm guessing they go with Vitoria though.
  13. Great signing....definitely going to help in attracting free agents looking for a long term deal.
  14. Scott Kennedy out with injury was also clocked at 34.4KM per hour this year in the bundesliga 2. That's not Alphonso Davies fast, but for a 6'3 centreback that's also crazy speed.
  15. This guy does have 41.3K followers? Could this be true? It sends a big message to any free agents looking for multiyear deals.
  16. Canada vs Mexico. Does it get any bigger? Let's go Canada!!!!!!!!!!! Let's get behind the boys!
  17. He's only 33 in the final year of his deal. 15.4 mil a year for 5 years. I kinda like the deal. Good bit of business by Detroit IMO. Stro Show at 5 and 110 or Eduardo at 5 and 77? I think I'd go with Rodriguez at 5 and 77.
  18. I like both...like where is the craps table..lol
  19. I'm not saying there isn't risk reward there, but some guys are just freaks of nature. When he throws like he did last week and he looks like just like he did two years ago crisp sharp with no drop in velocity some GM will say f*** it and sign him and will either like like a champ or a chump in 2 years. I'm not oblivious to the obvious risk and completely respect anyone who thinks we should steer clear of such a gamble. There's plenty of guys out there. I'm just a risk taker. I thought we should sign Paxton last year, so what do I know!
  20. I wasn't aware of the injury history with Lopez. Great point. Why don't we just keep all our prospects and go sign Verlander for 2 years plus a third year option. Verlander has said he wants to pitch well into his 40s. 2 years 40 mil with a 20 mil option and a 5 mil buyout. 45 mil guaranteed. It seems crazy for a guy pitching at 39 next year, but he hit 97 in his workout and his last 2 full season he finished 1st and 2nd in Cy young voting. It seems like a fair risk reward scenario when MLB trade rumors has Scherzer getting 3 years 120. I'd rather have Verlander at those terms.
  21. Given what it will cost, I think he makes the most sense and probably the guy that would be available.
  22. Yeah the Dodgers had 7 or 8 starters at the beginning of last year, and they were scrambling to find arms by the end of the season.
  23. That's a massive amount of information to unpack with no links as to where the talk is coming from..lol.
  24. I like the idea of Carlos Martinez who had surgery for a torn ligament in his thumb. That's the type of thing he could have been pitching with for some time an explain the rough patch the last couple years. Numbers don't look good, but it's also just been 102 innings over the past couple years. He's a decent buy low candidate. What are we going to do with Nate Pearson. Is he going to be in the rotation this year, or will they transition him to the pen? Verlander throwing 94 to 97...sign me up for the 2 years at 20 mil that MLB trade rumors has him pegged at. Rodon is a guy of interest for me too.
  25. I mean, if you keep Moreno at Catcher, you move Kirk plus a prospect for Lopez.
