    We could just sign Verlander. He's not looking to build value. He just wants to win. Martinez is a guy that interests me. He could next year's Ray or Matz.

    I think you can make the argument, but it still seems a stretch to me. You also have to consider the upcoming free agent pool and if you have the ability to sign any of them: Ray Matz Sherzer Kershaw Rodon Greike Verlander Kluber Stroman Guasman Duffy Wood Syndergaard Desclafani Hill Gray Paxton Pineda Martinez Bundy Cobb Rodriguez Cueto

    Ray could get an AAV of 25 to 30 mil. I just don't see the Jays going there. If his AAV was 20 I would do that. I just feel he will get better offers elsewhere. I'd do 5 years 125 on Semien though. Pitchers are such a gamble. I'd rather gamble on Verlander for 1 year, but the sticky stuff and how much he relied on that has to factor in too. Lots of options to discuss endlessly for months on end.

    I think Kirk, especially his bat is fairly predictable. Danny Jansen is the troubling one to predict. He couldn't hit for 2 and half years and then he turned into Mike Piazza the 2nd half of last year. Would the real Danny Jansen please stand up. I expected Danny to hit at least at a decent level for seemingly forever, and then when I finally gave up he starts hitting like an MVP.

    Kirk did lose weight last offseason. He was just really fat in 2019. You have to go back and look at the pictures. Dude probably lost 30lbs in the offseason. I hope he puts the work in again and comes in better next spring too.

    That Canada Panama game was a Canadian Heritage commercial waiting to happen. I've never seen so many Canadian flags in one place. The crowd was absolutely electric. What a game.

    That's way too high given his body of work. 5 and 90 is more than sufficient for Berrios. If he wants to gamble on himself and he can repeat what he did last year, particularly his time with the Jays, he could get more.

    Richie had a couple bad touches, but that sequence with Davies that lead to a perfect strike on goal by Laryea was brilliant. Tip of the cap to the keeper for coming off his line, reading the play and making a great save. I thought David was turd of the match for me. The altitude definitely got to us. We were the better team the first 60. It's a shame we were missing some of our key guys. Still a fantastic result. Can't wait for Jamaica. It's going to be a real test with 3 players out on 2 yellows.

    He's not a number 4 either. He's got a career 3.63 ERA. A career 3.62 FIP a 3.58 xFIP. Year to year he has a lot of consistency. He's one of the lower risk guys for what you're going to get. He's a solid number 3 on a playoff team. He's a 5 and 80 to 90 mil pitcher. Shatkins aren't going to go there. I think they will look to some short term options....They'll give the long term deal to Berrios.

    Statistical models don't take into account whether or not a guy played hurt though. I think Cavan will have a bounce back too. So who thinks Pearson should be moved to the bullpen now, or is it too early and let him start of the year as a starter? I've always been in the he's a starter camp, but he looked really good out of the pen and we desperately need arms in the pen. I think I'm on the fence now given his injury issues

    Exit velocity isn't everything. He obviously doesn't have power. He has a career .361 OBP and doesn't strike out. I don't see this changing much because he has the bat to ball skills. He derives most of his value from defense anyways, but hits .300. We have plenty of bombers. Seager would be a massive waste of money.

    My premise is based on Marcus resigning. Espinal has a 25.1% career 0-swing percentage. Understanding the strike zone is the hardest thing for a hitter to develop. It can improve over time to some degree, but for many it never does. League average 0-swing was 32% this year. He walked 8.9% of the time, close to league average, but only struck out 12.2% of the time. Given the power up and down the lineup he seems like exactly the type of hitter that fits with this lineup. He also is a plus base runner despite not being fast and was a ++ defender this year. He's league min. Spending 10s of millions of dollars on aging players to take bats away from this kid doesn't make sense to me. Put it into pitching.

    I think there's a team out there that gives Ray 5 and 150. I don't see us going there. I think we will sign Semien and I've felt all year that we wouldn't. 5 and 125. Santiago espinal has really good bat to ball skills. The kid is a good defender. I took my till August for me to realize he was as good as he is. I think he should be our starting 3rd baseman. Biggio can obviously be our super utility. Groshans and Smith are kids that can come up. I feel like they might move Moreno to 3rd. 15 mil on a declining Seager would be a waste. Put that money towards pitching. Ramirez would be fantastic, but I feel like Cleveland will hold on to him.

    Conforto? How is a bad fielding hit first outfielder a priority for this team? I think Conforto still gets 10 to 12 mil on a one year. 18 would be ridiculous. Doesn't seem like a wise place to spend money.

    I too would be shocked if he doesn't stay with the dodgers. Let's just roll the dice and sign Verlander. 1 year 16 mil.
