  1. he was playing through injuries at the beginning of the season last year, something that hopefully won't happen with Salty here this year.
  2. did he come out of the game with soreness?
  3. the jays have the best number 4 and number 5 pitchers in the AL. I just don't know which of the 5 would be labelled the number 4 and 5. They are all solid pitchers. I hope they stay healthy, knock on wood.
  4. the movement Liriano gets is ridiculous. I really enjoy watching him pitch.
  5. just checked the box score..10Ks in 4.2 innings for Liriano and only 1 walk.
  6. Congrats Big Cecil!
  7. o maybe we can trade smoak and a couple of prospects for a couple dozen baseballs.
  8. http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2017/3/7/14837902/toronto-blue-jays-spring-training-jose-bautista-world-baseball-classic Jeff Passan was quoted today saying Bautista did get a 3 year offer north of 50. I guess the guy you were skeptical about really did want to play in Toronto and took less money to do so just like he said in his presser. I know he rubs many the wrong way, but he doesn't bother me with his words and actions. I'm a big Jose fan and I hope he kills it this year!
  9. I don't see how or why Pagan is a 1 million dollar player. If he was willing to accept such a cheap contract, he'd be on a team already.
  10. 2 doubles off colon....baseball's back!
  11. Compromising photos. It's the only explanation. Smoak must have some juicy ones of Shapiro.
  12. Gibbs left smoak off the Alec's roster. I don't think his confidence is high, but smoak will likely get some time at the beginning of the season
  13. we could have had adam lind for 1 million dollars....a lind pearce platoon, with pearce playing some outfield would have been pretty sexy.....for those dollars.
  14. yeah..it's pretty amazing juan francisco part deux still has a job.
  15. probably won't be able to do baseball activities for a couple weeks...will probably return to golf in a week though.
  16. i've always been a Sanchez fan, but there was something about his last start against Boston when they really needed it and he killed it and then performed in the playoffs too. I think he just continues to get better and uses his secondary pitches more often and more effectively to be even better than last year.
  17. Not sure if it happened or not, but it happens all the time with other teams.
  18. well, Cooperstown is going to put Vladdy in the Hall, which I don't mind but they aren't going to put Walker in. Walker was the superior player. He's the best Canadian fielder of all time. If I'm going to teach my son about one of my favourite players of all time, I'm going to have to go the Canadian hall of fame. I want him to know that Larry Walker stole more than 25 bags and had a slugging percentage north of .700 in a single season which was a feat no other player in baseball player in history has accomplished. I'll have to explain the year he did it he had a better slugging percentage on the road than at home too!
  19. where's option 3...chris sale has to get tommy john surgery 3 weeks into the season and the Jays win the division by 3 games.
  20. well as a betting man, I'm betting the Jays will make the playoffs. I thought they were the best team in the AL in 2015 and they lost, so I don't think strengthening a team within striking distance is a bad thing. I do agree that Robertson isn't the move to make though.
  21. so you think the Jays are a long shot to make the playoffs? As long as you get in the playoffs anything can happen
  22. I heard Travis deleted his social media because some dude named Gary was stalking him.
  23. Wow man! Would I ever love to be gary's friend.
  24. when you're negotiating coming out and saying you're willing to sign for a home town discount doesn't really strengthen your position. That was where he was last year. He didn't specifically say he turned down more money elsewhere. He was asked if he turned down more money elsewhere and he responded saying he had other options but this is where he wanted to be. I have no doubt he had another team willing to go more than one year. He wouldn't have got a higher AAV on a two or three year term, but he would have got more total dollars. You clearly don't like the guy. I don't think he crawled back to Toronto because he had no other options. I found his statements to be completely genuine, and there were reports prior to christmas saying he wanted to come back. The guy is one of the all time franchise greats. He loves it here and wants to be here. I find it easy to get behind a guy who bleeds blue and wants to be a Jay.
