  1. When is this team going to be good? Diaz didn't just have one year of control left.
  2. well....I'm glad the Jays picked up Smoak's option.
  3. "odds of a highly touted MiLB arm actually contributing as a good MLB starter are so small" So Why are people so convinced an average MiLB pitcher in Merryweather is a solid number three MLB starter nest year then..lol. I don't care if it's trade for existing MLB arm, sign proven free agent arms or drafting them. We probably aren't competing the next two years and stroman and Sanchez will be gone. I'm not sure how good those two are the next 2 years anyways. You probably need a pipeline of 10 to 12 guys to get 3 or 4 guys that can be quality controllable starters that you can supplement with 2 or 3 more guys from free agency. I like Reid foley, Pearson, maybe Borucki, some might throw in ZeuchÂ….I'm not sure I would. There's some interesting young international arms...but I don't think the list is anywhere near long enough. I hope they focus on Pitching with next year's top pick.
  4. This team has zero starting pitching....it's time to start trading to get some pitching prospects.
  5. So you're saying our GM is lucky not good?
  6. less worried about health...more worried about effectiveness.
  7. Crime ridden? The Economist ranked Toronto the 4th safest major city in the world and the safest major city in North America! Toronto the city is great. Toronto the city winning major sports championships...not so great. Maybe the Raps or leafs have a shot this year though!
  8. Ok, I didn't realize the age cutoff wasn't season end, but he's still an old 27 next year. He could be an outlier. A second round pick would be far more valuable. In a couple years we can revisit and see if he's an outlier, until then I will continue to consider him garbage. He's a back end starter at best, more likely a bullpen guy with an injury history.
  9. He's not 27 next year...he's 27 in less than 30 days. It might say 27 on baseball ref and fangraphs, but if he would have been born 3 weeks earlier it would say 28.
  10. He's 27 in less than 30 days.....he's garbage.
  11. He's ho hum nothing special coming off tommy john and lucky to get a chance in the majors next year. He'll be 27 in less than a month. The average 2nd round pick is worth more than a guy who's going to do nothing.
  12. A guy coming off tommy john surgery who's closer to 30 than 20 and will likely be entering his decline years by the time he gets to the majors if ever is better than a 2nd round pick. I'm obtuse all right.
  13. trading Donaldson for a guy who will never play in the majors seems equally absurd.
  14. You've basically made my point. Rogers would never sacrifice long term revenue for a short term payoff. All Shapiro had to do was say, let's trade Donaldson and we'll take a hit at the box, but in a couple years we will make a lot of money at the box. If we don't trade Donaldson we might higher revenues this year, but we might have more difficulties competing in the future.
  15. Vancouver has pretty much sold out the lower bowl this weekend. Everyone wants to see Davies now that he's been sold.
  16. Why is out of the realm of possibility that it was actually Shapiro's decision not to trade Donaldson and not Rogers decision? Shapiro seems to get a pass on everything. We don't have a single owner endeared to winning. We have an owner endeared to money. Shapiro, if he did indeed want to trade Donaldson in the off season, couldn't convince ownership the long term success of the team would result in more revenue than keeping Donaldson and having a team that if all went right would have likely been on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs go. Does Shapiro really get a pass on everything?
  17. now we just need the dozens of pitchers to get a handful that might be good.
  18. who's going to replace shatkins when they bolt for the Mets?
  19. SRF can have a couple years of ups and downs to find himself as we aren't going to compete the next two years. If he doesn't find it in 3 years and we can't find some more good pitching along with it, we can trade vlad and start the rebuild.
  20. So how would everyone rate shark is draft record the last three years
