  1. Pardinho and Groshans haven't played high A yet. They are going to hit all levels next year and have an impact in 2021? That seems more than a tad optimistic. Even if SWR makes it to the the majors mid way through 2021 it's a lot to ask a rookie to help a contending team. Realistically, the next best prospects are coming in 2022. The projected ETA on all those guys according to MLB pipeline is 2022. My point is pretty simple. You have the balls to make moves to win now and in 2021, which involves spending money and prospect capital, or you spend nothing, trade Giles for more prospects and push it out to 2022. Waiting means more crap years in terms of wins and losses. It means crap revenue for the team. It's going to be more difficult to convince free agents to come here and Rogers brass to spend money when the team is losing games and money.
  2. I count all those guys as pretty much being here. If you want to say the core we have for 2020 needs developing in order to compete in 2021 then fine. If you expect the team to compete in 2021, it's going to be with the same guys that are here in 2020. I don't see anything of impact coming into the team in 2021 from within the organization. The free agent market is looking a lot weaker next year for what this team needs. This is the year to spend money. It would be a shame to see the core players play great next year and have us win 77 games because we did nothing this off season as "we weren't ready to win"
  3. I could kick you in the balls if you think you'd have a better day.
  4. What impact players outside of Pearson are coming in 2020 and 2021?
  5. You have no idea what Bo or Vlad want. Maybe they want to win. Assuming they will extend and give us 8 or 9 years instead of 7 is ridiculous. Our core is here. Vlad, Gurriel, Jansen, Bo, Biggio, Grichuk and Pearson early next year. The next wave isn't coming until 2022. Management is fantastic at keeping expectations low and telling everyone how they are building something special a couple years out, until 2 years come and it's just another 2 years before we receive the golden ticket. Spending money would put their jobs at risk as expectations build. I swear Ben Nicholson Smith is the mouth piece for management. I can't read his crap any more. Signing a Cole or a Rendon would allow you to add spend some money on short term deals to try and win now and it wouldn't sacrifice the opportunities 2 years from now. An Elite guy like Cole or Rendon is going to give you 4 or 5 great years and most likely 2 or 3 still decent years. Injury risks are always in play. You might lose a guy you're paying 30 mil a year for a year. You have to take chances. I'm in no way saying I expect management to acquire a top tier free agent. All I'm saying is they should put real offers out there and make the attempt.
  6. I'd roll the dice on alex wood if his discount is deep enough.
  7. We're not going to be in on either. I would sign the best free agent pitcher we could get(ideally Cole), trade for Kluber on the cheap after the Dodgers trade for Lindor, and sign Alex Wood on a cheap one year plus a team option. I might even be in on Betances if the discount is big enough. Realistically, I could see us in on Alex Wood..lol.
  8. rendon seems like a good dude.....some team should rightfully open the bank up for him.
  9. so what would it take to pry Kluber out of Cleveland?
  10. people deserve 2nd chances. Brandon Taubman in, Atkins out...and bring Cole with you while you're at it.
  11. I never said we should sign EE. I was just responding to what type of player I think he will be. I wouldn't be adverse to signing smoak, but I don't think it will happen either. So 2022 will be our year will it.
  12. I don't really care about WAR as much as you and we were talking about what percentage he would be above league average in hitting. He had a .239 bapip in 2019. You always assume old guys will fall off a cliff, which is ironic because you're old. I think his wrc+ will be in the 125 to 135 range.
  13. signing Porcello for anything more than a one year deal would make me want to puke.
  14. As Josh Donaldson would say....Check out the back of his baseball card.
  15. let's see what he does or doesn't do in free agency first.
  16. 1st McKinney? league min 2nd Biggio league min short Bichette league min 3rd Vlad league min Catcher Jansen and Maguier league min Left Gurriel 3 mil Right Griuchuk 13 mil centre Teoscar league min Starters Shoemaker 3.8 League min for the rest Relievers Giles 8.4 Tepera 1.6 Law 1.3 League min for the rest Bench Drury 2.5 league min for the rest 65 mil to spend to get to your number if you're talking active payroll. Even if you take tulo's 14 mil off that's 51 to spend in the offseason. You're predicting a fairly interesting off season.
  17. I have the Yankees.
  18. Talk about apples to oranges. We had a payroll north of 150 when Price became a free agent. Our active payroll is 16 million dollars next year. We don't have any expensive arb players and Tulo will get paid 14 mil in 2020 and 4 mil in 2021 and then he's off the books. There's no reason why a team like the Jays with the financial resources that they have to not pursue Cole. There should probably be 8 or 10 teams hunting for his services. I'm not expecting the Jays to land Cole, but they could at least pretend they are interested in the guy.
  19. We should be preparing to offer Cole a massive contract, not worrying about Drury. This idea that we're not ready to compete so we won't go after cole is ridiculous. A pitcher like Cole does not hit the market very often and if we don't sign him he could land in the AL and we could have to face him. He's going to sign for 7 years, maybe more. He might not accept the massive offer and he most likely will choose to go elsewhere, but not making the offer is a mistake.

  21. If Goldy was 6'1 instead of 6'2 that game might be in extras!
  22. definitely a great game, not sure about top 5, but a good game indeed.
  23. How do you make an error like that in this situation. 2 runs were pretty much a given.
  24. Bob Uecker must be close to having a heart attack right now
