  1. I'm starting to think the major weakness in this team is a lack of pitching.
  2. I feel like early May next year Pearson will be up. It's really exciting.
  3. HOF is going to be tough considering how late a start he got. I wonder what kind of offers JD might get in the off-season. I was listening to the Red Sox game on sirius a week ago. They weren't even playing the Jays, I'm not sure why I was listening. I'm not even sure who their announcers are and they were talking about whether Martinez would opt out and they both thought he wouldn't. Then they start talking about Donaldson for some reason and they both thought he wasn't getting anywhere close to the 23 he got this year and the one announcer suggested he might get 2 year 30 mil. 3 and 22 to 25 AAV seems like a likely contract to me.
  4. SRF's velocity is down noticeably, even from earlier in the year. I wonder if he might be hurting or injured.
  5. He's a corner outfielder. He might be an average outfielder and his speed may be average or even slightly above. He's stolen 36 bags at AAA over 4 years and he's been caught 17 times. I'm not saying he's negative in either category, but relatively speaking he's not even close to what Alford could bring. I should have said he doesn't provide any significant value. Boxy draws the comparison between Brito and Lofton and I'm the idiot.
  6. I'm seeing a guy that was bad for a period and now he has been good for quite a stretch. I'm not making excuses. I'm stating a fact. His .OPS over the last 90 days is.942. His defense and abilities on the base paths have always been above average. Remember when Bautista was bad and then all the sudden he was good. Let me guess, you were one of the guys who thought Bautista's 5 year contract was a massive overpay when it was signed.
  7. Socrates only has 207 AB at the MLB level and that's not enough if I'm being fair to him, but he's 2 years older and he doesn't provide any value on the defensive side or on the base paths.
  8. He didn't have a great year with the bat last year. He has a .762 OPS this year. That's not eye popping, but it's not terrible when you have plus defense and base running. If he had put a .762 OPS this year with relative consistency throughout the year that would be one thing, but he had a .459 OPS in the first month of the season. He was awful. He's completely turned his season around. He has a .942 OPS in his last 90 days. Guys make adjustments and improve. He's only been fully committed to baseball since 2015 so his development was delayed. The numbers over the last 3 months suggest he's a guy keeping an eye on. Let me guess. His numbers of late are so good because he's so bad that opposing pitchers feel sorry for him and they are throwing the middle so he can get a few hits and won't feel bad.
  9. his best fastball was 90.6 mph. That's not bad for a 36 year old catcher.
  10. I wasn't following your conversation long enough to know when you were talking about the list changing for the top 15. Once Alford is in the mlb for some time he won't be on any prospect list. He should be there now. He will be there in September. Alford could put up a 90 wrc+ and quite easily be a 2+ win player. You've yet to articulate how you actually rate his offense, defense and base running abilities. Regardless, he's likely going to be dealt in the off season.
  11. yes, I agree. He will be omitted from the list as he will be in the MLB.
  12. Groshan's had a left foot injury. Did they ever disclose what it was?
  13. I'm actually pretty excited to see Rowdy get some at bats to see if he's made some adjustments that carry over.
  14. I only do it because you and Boxy can't stand it.
  15. vlad missed one
  16. I wonder if Alford would have caught it.
  17. Alford leads off the bisons game with a hit and promptly steals 2nd and then steals 3rd. Keep it going big fella.
  18. who are they going to invest in?
  19. not really bothered by losing Galvis, although he put in good year for us, but I would have rather seen Alford called up.
  20. If you came on here and said he sucks because I don't like this in his swing, or these are the things on the defensive side he does that I don't like. He does this on the base paths and for these reasons, he sucks. If you came on here and said his numbers suggest he sucks because of these reasons that would be one thing. Instead you come on here and say I'm the smartest man on the planet and have declared that he sucks. It's really hard to judge whether young players are good or whether a young player sucks. Professional executives get this wrong all the time. There are things in Alford's swing that I wasn't in love with in the limited amount of time we saw him. I have no clue what sort of adjustments he may have made. He has a .936 OPS in his last 167 plate appearances. Maybe he has made some adjustments. It would be one thing internally if you have concluded a guy sucks and you can't take away at bats from guys who you believe in more, but we have a 2 man bench. There are at bats to be had for him. It seems like awful asset management to not at least test your hypothesis that a guy sucks and not give him some time at the mlb level given our current situation.
  21. has boxy come on here and said he sux enough for it to be ingrained in everybody..lol. His numbers of late do not say he is terrible. His defense and base running are good enough to provide positive value even if he was a below average bat. I don't see why you would let a guy with the size strength and speed of Alford waste a way without giving him a look. We have a 2 man bench right now. It's not like there isn't a spot for him. It's beyond baffling why he isn't up with the big league club. I mean we want to lose now anyways, so what's the harm in bringing him up. If he happens to show well, you build value and have options.
  22. Alford may not be dead after all. The last 90 days Alford hitting .340/419/.510 with plus speed and plus defense. 1 for 2 with a double today! Keep it coming big fella.
  23. my initial thought was he was coming up...when I found out he wasn't I thought maybe he was hurt. I hope not. The kid has some momentum going. He's running out of options so it would be good to get him a look at some point.
  24. It wouldn't hurt to give him a look at the MLB level. He can't even get in the AAA lineup...they sat him in his third game back and he was 3 for 8 with a homer in his first 2.
