  1. You're wrong. We had this discussion last year. His contract is guaranteed for whatever they agree to or what he get's in arbitration.
  2. We're on the hook for his arbitration now. If he get's 2.5 there's no cutting him.
  3. Take away the handful of at bats he had with the Jays where he was an emotional wreck knowing he was about to be traded and he put a 93 OPS+ for the Giants. He was a 2 win player for them. I'm not advocating we sign him, but he's better than Hernandez.
  4. He was projected to make 9.7 in arbitration. I'm not sure he's a 4th outfielder just yet.
  5. He's a solid 2 win centre fielder....which one of our centre fielders is a 2 win player?
  6. I just went off mlbtraderumors projections. Regardless, there will be a significant difference in both total dollars and AAV for Keuchel and Wheeler. Given that Wheeler is 2 and half years younger and our best shot at contention is a couple years from now, Wheeler makes more sense for the Jays.
  7. That's your evaluation. If Wheeler ends up getting 60 mil more on his contract, the GM's in the MLB will disagree with your assessment. Time will tell to see how close their contract values are..lol.
  8. The Nationals signed Scherzer and Corbin, the Sox signed JD Martinez too. Rattling off teams that signed free agents and didn't win the World Series seems silly. There's 30 teams and one wins a world series every year. How many teams win a World Series without taking on salary through free agency or via trade?
  9. It's not too early to look at 2021 free agents. If our management doesn't have an eye towards what is coming available in the next couple years, they should be fired. I'm sure they do however. Wheeler is probably going to get close to 5 and 100. Keuchel is more of a 3 and 39 guy. They aren't even in the same category. I would love to get Wheeler and take a flyer on Wood or Pineda. Cole and Strasburg are the elite free agents. Ryu, Bumgarner, Wheeler are in the next category. Pearson could struggle at the MLB level and SWR could struggle at advanced levels in the minors. Where is the team going to be heading into 2021 if that's the case and they sign no one this year?
  10. We need a quality starting pitcher. Who are you targeting in 2021? The market is a lot weaker.
  11. I certainly hope we banned anyone who even considered advocating for a team that might contend in 2020.
  12. Just go sign Kim and Ryu. We can call them the Korean Killers.
  13. Do you actually read the posts? I said you're projecting Kay to be more likely a starter, not a front end starter and you said people will be penciling in SWR the same way they do Pearson now. I said, that's an optimistic take. Both could happen, but I viewed Kay more as a reliever. It was you that came at me saying he's a reliever because "you say so". You were crapping on my opinion. I responded pointing out projections like Steamer also don't project him that well. I also said, you're entitled to your opinion. You feel the need to win an argument on subjective matters. I stand by my original comment. You're being overly optimistic. You and others can feel free to disagree.
  14. let's go sign Kwan-Hyun Kim. That would be fun.
  15. Edwin is a perfectly capable first baseman. His UZR/150 was slightly above average when he was with the jays and just below average when he was with the indians and Yankees. He's by no means a black hole defensively at first. I have no idea what our budget is. I'm not suggesting we spend money on Edwin if we can land Wheeler. He could land as low as 1 year 7 mil. If that's the case I'd be in. Our only 1st baseman is Tellez. Especially with the extra roster spot Edwin makes sense. He provides protection for young bats at the plate. He is a very good hitter veteran players can help with development. He's the type that can be flipped at the deadline. I'd rather us sign Edwin and actually make a decision on getting rid of one of Mckinney, Fisher, Hernandez, Mckinney, Drury.
  16. It's never a hard no until you know dollars and term. If the dollars are discounted enough would it really be that bad to have a veteran hitter for guys like Vlad and Gurriel to talk hitting with.
  17. I didn't crap on anyone's opinion. I offered a different one.
  18. Sean Reid Foley was projecting as a number 4 at the beginning of last year. You still got him penciled in there..lol. There's back end starters on bad teams and those on good teams. I want to compete one day. He'll get a shot no doubt, but I see it more likely he transitions to the bullpen. If his command improves he will stick in the rotation. Anybody projecting prospects has a much wider margin for error. You guys love steamer. I don't have mad love for steamer projections, but in this case it supports my argument..lol It's not like it way out in left field for me to suggest I think he will be a reliever.
  19. You’re basically saying swr will replicate and build on what he did last year. I said I am hopeful but will wait and see. You said Kay looks like a back end rotation guy. I said he’s more likely a reliever because he’s going to be 25 next year and has had some control issues. Steamer projects him to have a 5.58 fip next year so not exactly a viable long term starter. It’s not just me projecting him to be a reliever. Could Kay be a quality starter? Sure. You feel it’s more likely he is a solid starter. I just disagree. He has a live arm. I expect he could develop into a good reliever. I think you’re taking an overly optimistic unbiased view. It’s called an opinion. We’re both entitled and it’s okay if we disagree.
  20. Exactly. As much as it pains me, I actually like Jim's idea to front load contracts. If Wheeler is the guy you want, and I'm not saying he should be and he's going to get 5 and 100 you could offer 30, 25, and 3 at 15. Once the kids start hitting arbitration, you're saving 5 mil a year on Wheeler. Spending 40 or 50 mil on several vets on short term contracts doesn't appeal to me. Sure you can flip them for some sort of prospect, but nothing fantastic. I'd rather sign one or two guys to long term contracts that will make a difference than add a handful of chase andersons.
  21. So how much better was the sox core than the Jays before signing Grandal.
  22. Kay is more likely going to be a reliever. Swr has pitched 28.1 innings at high A ball. There’s a lot to look forward to but let’s not put the cart before the horse

Babcock came out and said all the right things post firing, because he's a classy guy and that's what he does. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for the real conversation between Shanahan and Babs when he told him. Babcock is a fiery guy. I'm sure it would have been a lively conversation to say the least.

Leafs allow Babcock to run practice and then fire him in the afternoon. What a joke. Nerd boy doesn't have the balls to fire Babcock so he waits for shanny to fly in. If you're going to make the change, make the change, but do it right.
  25. Ahh...good old prospect boners....nothing's better.
