  1. we need to find some new posters for this board. Spanky's now responding to himself and throwing in a lol to boot.
  2. so Biggio who put up a wRC+ of 114 can't hit and Bichette is the next Lawrie. Run away chicken little.
  3. the Jays drew 1.7 million fans last year. Their revenues have plummeted so financially we're not exactly setting the world on fire.
  4. So the Braves bullpen is being paid more than the projected active roster for the Jays at this point, but we couldn't possibly be in play on top free agents. Scrooge McDuck must be running the finances for this team.
  5. The MLb off season is almost unbearable. In the NBA a minute into free agency and 600 million is already spent by clubs. A week into the NHL free agency and anyone worth signing is already signed. In baseball a month into free agency you're lucky if 2 of the top 40 free agents have signed with clubs.
  6. well i guess it's going to be a boring 2 weeks
  7. Following the Astro's blueprint just like 10 other teams. So who are we going to sign? What type of player for what dollars.
  8. then why does our payroll resemble the marlins. I'll bet you my house the Jays don't sign Ryu. Committing four years to an older pitcher with an injury history. Are you mad?
  9. More like 23...but I do actually like your front loaded idea.
  10. There isn't a GM in all of baseball with smaller balls than Ross Atkins. What make's you think he'd have the courage to sign Ryu. Someone will go 4 years. 4 years 13 mil AAV for Ryu..scare's the crap out of Atkins....Chase anderson at one year 9 mil, followed by the Chase Anderson equivalent for 3 straight 1 year contracts at 9 mil a season is more Atkins speed.
  11. Ask the nationals about Scherzer...year older in his free agency year. His contract ends at 36. The risk of never having elite players on your team is you never win the championship. It's a rare occurrence for teams like the Royals to win it all.
  12. yes, the angst of having the best pitcher in baseball on my team would be too much to bare.
  13. look at you...already looking to flip him..lol. When exactly do you want the Jays to compete 2026? As far as Odorizzi goes, I'm not totally adverse to the idea. If you're willing to give up the pick, which doesn't bother me in the least, you should at least explore the better pitchers first.
  14. That should be the floor of where our risk appetite lies. We need to hire guys with more balls if they can't go out and commit 4 years 64 mil for Ryu or similar dollars for Wheeler.
  15. JD at 20 mil a season for the next 3 years isn't a bad contract. He was key to their world series as well. I don't think the Martinez signing qualifies as one of Dombrowski's mistakes.
  16. seems obvious more than anything. Travis had the ability to be a decent player...I feel bad for the kid. He just couldn't stay healthy.
  17. well it doesn't bother me...but I suspect our not so fearless leader you're in love with doesn't want to give a 2nd round pick or bonus pool money up so we're out. If we sign someone who got a qualifying offer I will be shocked. besides, if you actually read the thread I was just clarifying he got a qualifying offer.
  18. Salazaar is interesting. I mean he could just be hot garbage because of the injuries. He's missed 2 years. If he somehow bounces back though. I wonder what he signs for.
  19. Are you suggesting the Jays sign moustakis for 3 years 45 mil?
  20. I think the worst part of this deal is it signals where the off season is heading. Any hopes of Wheeler or Odorizzi are pretty much gone. So who's the best pitcher who didn't get a qualifying offer? That's pretty much the ceiling for the Jays.
  21. How does Will Smith not accept his qualifying offer?
  22. yeah my bad...they were talking about him potentially opting out on mlb radio. I thought I read he opted out...regardless, there's no way Shatkins is spending that kind of money on Martinez, so we aren't going to trade for him.
  23. He's opting out this year.
  24. he got a qualifying offer.
  25. We didn't get him for nothing. We're obligated to pay him 9 million dollars. We'll see how much money pitchers in the free agent market get. I would have rather gone after Alex wood, but in a vacuum this isn't a bad deal, but it's nothing to jump up and down over either.
