  1. If last year’s World Series had been Jays vs. Brewers, it would’ve been Brewers fans complaining about having to face a big-payroll team lol, while Jays fans wouldn’t have thought twice about it.
  2. Meet him at the north-east corner of Yonge and Bloor!
  3. Would have been your boy Lauer if it wasn't for all the injuries.
  4. I was wearing my Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn jersey at the bar tonight and I’ve honestly never gotten so many compliments haha.
  5. He can be a weapon out of our pen once he gets right, whether that's as a setup guy or a return to closer at some point. We need the Hoffman of 2023/2024 on this team. He was one of the best relievers in baseball those two seasons. I know he's struggled, but tough guy to root against. Hope he turns it around.
  6. Yeah, over his next start or two, he needs to perform - plain and simple. Otherwise, he’s gone. Lukes got a bit of a free pass earlier, but that same leash doesn’t apply to Lauer.
  7. Yeah, that’s a good point, and I should’ve mentioned it earlier. It’s very possible those two really bad starts were clearly affected by the illness he was dealing with. Since then, he’s at least been passable and has kept the Jays in games. We’ve definitely had worse fill-in starters covering for injured arms in the past. I know Lauer comes across as an annoying loudmouth and complainer, so he’s probably not as well-liked around here now as he was last season. But he needs to perform over his next start or two, otherwise he’s probably gone anyway.
  8. I'm glad RA Whiffleball is taking some of the heat now off me and Jays24 😂
  9. Should have waited. Tickets will probably be cheaper on StubHub or SeatGeek closer to the games. I never buy that far in advance. Always wait day off if I'm travelling on the road to see a ballgame. Especially Yankees/Mets tickets are usually cheaper resale than from the box office.
  10. The Mets still ended up winning haha. But yeah what a joke!
  11. Well people love to cherry pick on here sometimes to suit their narrative, so why not join in on the fun haha.
  12. Again, you’re twisting words and trying to force an argument where there doesn’t need to be one, just so you can sound superior. At the end of the day, Lauer is probably near the end of the line anyway once Yesavage and Berrios get back. So if he ends up making five or six starts for us, then yes, the results have been mediocre - but that’s exactly why he’s a career 5th or 6th starter. He can go through stretches where he looks solid, like we saw in the early part of last season, and he can also go through stretches where the inconsistency shows up. For a guy who was 7th or 8th on your SP depth chart, if he gets called on because of injuries and gives you around five innings while allowing roughly three earned runs per start over a handful of outings, the Jays have definitely gotten worse before.
  13. Take away Lauer's starts against the Twins and White Sox, don't know what there is to complain about. As a swingman/8th SP on your depth charts, what do you expect Spanky?
  14. Ok who else did the Jays have available to fill in during the short term?
  15. For a guy who was at the very back of our SP depth chart and is only in this spot because of injuries, yes, I’ll absolutely take 5 innings and 3 ER for now. Nobody’s calling it great. But in that role, it’s serviceable, and we’ve definitely run out far worse before.
  16. You're a fool. Nobody’s saying 5 innings and 3 ER every time out is good. The point is it’s survivable in the short term if the offense does its job and the bullpen holds. Acting like every start has to be ace-level or it’s useless is just lazy analysis. And yes, the velo drop is concerning - nobody’s denying that. But there’s a difference between acknowledging the concern and pretending the guy is completely finished. That’s where you’re reaching. Who else could have the Jays used instead of Lauer? Once the Jays get some arms back, Lauer won't be needed anyways.
  17. Would be a good challenge trade 😂
  18. Murakami wants to play for the Dodgers, which is why he's doing this well 😂
  19. Yeah that's all he is a 5th/6th starter. Maybe the odd season, he puts up numbers like he did last season, or he can be mediocre/very bad like he is now. That's why he's a 5th/6th starter. 5.09 BB/9 doesn't help. Need to get that down in the 2-3 range. While he looked awful today, if Lauer gives you 5 innings of 3 ER every time out, I'll take that. Also, not a bad idea to use an opener (RHP) in front of him.
