  1. Impressed with Rogers in the 8th as well. Looks like he's going to be a nice late inning weapon out of the pen this season!
  2. Bottom of the lineup came up huge. Great seeing Okamoto making an impact in his first game. Clement and Gimenez as well with big hits! Definitely a nail biting win!
  3. Last year Jays were great value. I remember Term earlier in the offseason floating that idea. Jays were 70 to 1 back in November 2024. Imagine what they were when they started off poorly last April? At 17 to 1, not sure it's worth keeping your money tied up for that long. You're better off betting the Jays during the season or wait if they get off to a slow start, the odds will be better for the World Series.
  4. If I cave in and purchase a new Jays jersey with the 50-year patch, would be a Clement jersey.
  5. Was watching live when Weatherholt hit his first HR. Also saw DeLauter's when I tuned into the Cleveland/Seattle game. Pretty cool!
  6. Vegas got to him before the game.
  7. Ian Seymour didn't even record an out and gave up 5 ER. Cards were 10 to 1 odds when they had runners on base and down 7 to 1. Put down $10 when they were 4 to 1 odds and down 7-5.
  8. 101 to 1 odds on Bet365. Put down $5 on him before the season lol.
  9. Don't even see the game on Netflix lol WTF?
  10. Betting wise, would go with Boston or Baltimore since the odds are more favourable than the Jays or Yankees. Cheering and picking the Blue Jays though. Regardless, tough division and should be a dogfight all season long.
  11. Ok since its the night before Opening Night, lets make some predictions. AL and NL Awards, some team O/U W-L, division winners. Wins: Pirates Over 78.5 Athletics Over 75.5 Nationals Under 65.5 Diamondbacks Over 79.5 Guardians Over 78.5 Division Winners: AL East: unsure AL Central: Cleveland AL West: Mariners NL East: Phillies NL Central: Cubs NL West: Dodgers Awards: AL MVP: Vladdy NL MVP: Acuna Jr. AL Cy Young: Crochet NL Cy Young: Skenes AL ROY: McGonigle NL ROY: Weatherholt Some sleeper picks: AL MVP: Jazz Chisholm Jr. NL MVP: Jackson Chourio NL Cy Young: Eury Perez AL Cy Young: Gavin Williams AL ROY: Chase DeLauter NL ROY: Hunter Barco Sleepers to Make Postseason: Pirates Athletics Guardians
  12. They also have one of the best-looking jerseys in baseball. Busch Stadium is still on my TDL.
  13. I’m either going to try to find a bar that has Netflix, or just suck it up and pay for a month.
  14. Weren’t there a lot of prominent posters on here who were obsessed with the Cards front office years ago?
  15. Not as many as some others on here make when things don’t go right for the Jays. I just criticized AA for not addressing the rotation. Not coming up with excuses.
  16. They actually had a pretty deep rotation before the injuries hit. If everyone were healthy, it would look something like: Sale Strider Schwellenbach Lopez Smith-Shawver Waldrep Holmes Fuentes Elder Wentz Suarez That’s decent depth. But AA didn’t really pivot after Schwellenbach, Waldrep, and Wentz went down and with Strider going down at the end of spring training, the rotation is now in a tough spot. Lopez is now being pushed into the No. 2 spot, and they’re forced to rely on guys like Holmes, Elder, and Suarez to round out the rest of the rotation.
  17. NL Rookie of the Year.
  18. Rotation is a mess. It was tough luck losing Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep earlier. Losing Strider really hurts now. Shocked AA didn't address the rotation after those injuries. Lucas Giolito would be a perfect fit, but signing him now means he likely won't be ready till the end of April.
  19. Raleigh, though, is mostly just power - his other offensive numbers (BA, OBP) are pretty underwhelming. Vladdy, on the other hand, has the potential to hit 50+ home runs while batting over .300 with an OPS north of 1.000. Need some regression or missed time from Judge for Vladdy to enter the conversation however.
  20. Yeah I'm going to bet like $40-50 on him for MVP at 15 to 1.
  21. Hopefully they take Fisher for the pen. But he has options.
  22. Agreed - Russell Martin should be in, no question. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Salvador Pérez gets into the Hall faster than Martin does. Which really says everything about how narrative, accolades, and perception can outweigh the actual numbers when it comes to the voters.
  23. Even if the Hall looks at his bWAR - which probably will end up between 40-45 when all is said and done - he likely will get still get votes and I could see him eventually getting in because voters will look at the power seasons he's had, all the awards/accolades and since he stayed in KC for his entire career. Don't think he deserves to be in the Hall when you compare his career numbers with other catchers, but I could see him getting voted in 🤢
  24. Came across a post today about how Salvador Perez could end up being one of the more controversial Hall of Fame cases down the road. At first, without digging into the numbers, I assumed his longevity, power, and accolades behind the plate would have him sitting somewhere around 40 career WAR - which would put him in that classic borderline Hall of Fame range. Add in the fact that he’s spent his entire career with the Royals and has been one of the most recognizable power-hitting catchers of his era, and it felt like a reasonable case. Then I checked his FanGraphs page - just 19 career WAR. That’s honestly shocking. Despite that, he’ll almost certainly be part of Hall of Fame discussions when he retires, but at this pace, he may not even reach 25 career WAR.
  25. I go with the over. Like Spanky said above, he'll crush LHP and we'll likely see a couple IL stints for Stanton during the season.
