  1. Ok sounds good. Virtual hand shake. So this bet will be active if the Jays sign both Alonso and Mad Max?
  2. Haha ok just wanted to clarify so Postseason is excluded then? I'll do that bet with you as well. So Yankees more wins/higher position in standings during regular season. If tied with wins, we'll apply the MLB tiebreak rules, if you're good with that.
  3. Are we going to go by Regular Season wins/position in standings at end of the season?
  4. Beltran and Jones should get in. Both have a career 67 WAR and were impactful ball players during their respective periods. I don't think Wright gets in despite almost having the same career WAR as Mauer. As for Martin and McCann, hope both get in and don't have to wait around long. Shame that Mauer gets in on first ballot, though both Martin/McCann likely have to wait almost a decade to get in possibly.
  5. Felix was so dominant in his early 20's and then fell apart once he hit 30. Imagine if he aged like Verlander or Scherzer, he likely would be close to 80-90 WAR. I remember in 2009, was sitting behind the Mariners dugout. Saw Felix pop out and was looking around at the crowd between innings. I started chanting "Cy Young, Cy Young" and he tossed me a ball haha.
  6. $20 friendly bet the Yankees finish ahead of the Blue Jays? A bet I wouldn't mind losing actually.
  7. I would never count out the Yankees or Red Sox and the Rays after a down season in 2024 are bound to bounce back and be a sleeper. AL East is still the toughest division in the AL. Mariners pitching staff is the best, but they need some bats. Astros still should be solid even after losing Tucker and Bregman, but not the same force as they were before in previous years. Rangers should bounce back. Athletics are my sleeper team in 2025 and see them snagging one of the WC spots. Cleveland didn't really do much IMO. Twins look like they have the best all-around roster in the AL Central. Royals should be good again, but not really any huge improvements. Tigers should continue to get better with their young roster but haven't made any big additions.
  8. I'm hoping I could make it down to a Pirates game this summer. Really want to see Skenes pitch in person. Heard Pittsburgh is a pretty cool city as well.
  9. Also, I think Acuna might not be 100% healthy for the start of the season, so was a good idea going after another outfielder. Plus, Harris seems like he's a bit injury prone and Kelenic still has been a disappointment at the MLB level. Too bad Profar can't play SS anymore.
  10. Ross Atkins seems like the guy on Tinder who swipes right on every profile haha.
  11. Hopefully Santander doesn't become like Kendrys Morales haha. Look, I think the Anthony Santander signing was very solid and happy the Jays went out and got a 30-40 HR masher which is what this lineup badly needed. At the same time, I'm not all of a sudden anointing Atkins as a king just for making this signing.
  12. Santander fits the Jays lineup better than Profar. Jays needed a masher who could hit 30-40 HR's.
  13. For this season, definitely want both haha. But yeah sure why not, it's not my money lol. Alonso at least is a good insurance policy if Vlad walks at the end of the season. If Vladdy could play a passable third base for over 100 games per season, that would be pretty sweet!
  14. I would rather have Alonso at 3/$75M or 4/$100M over Vladdy at 450M. Alonso makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons, both in the short term and long term. If Vladdy walks, you still have a 30-40 HR middle-of-the-order power bat at 1B and could still likely be competitive with an Alonso/Santander middle-of-the-order over the next 3-4 years.
  15. Montgomery only has one year left whereas Springer has two more years. Also, Arizona's outfield is already set with Carroll, McCarthy, LGJ along with Alek Thomas & Pavin Smith. Unless they use Springer strictly at DH, though I'm sure Arizona will use the DH spot to rotate Naylor, LGJ and Smith.
  16. The Sheriff was a huge Richard Lovelady fan! He must be going crazy and getting buzzed tonight!
  17. Gotta act quick haha.
  18. I just picked up Tim Anderson and dropped Myles Straw in the LOD.
  19. Why don't you create a Politics thread and leave these threads just for baseball?
  20. At the end of the day, I want the Jays to win, whether Atkins is still the GM or someone else. Still will take the Jays 2015 and 2016 seasons over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
  21. What did I say that was so bad? The 2015 and 2016 teams had legit chances at reaching the World Series. Those were fun seasons.
  22. Imagine if the Jays added Pete Alonso as well. Signing two potential 40 HR bats, along with Vladdy and Bo both having monster seasons in their FA year. What a fun lineup that would be to watch!
  23. Because he just did lol. Okay, maybe he'll OBP .300 instead. Big deal.
  24. Wouldn't say 2015 was the end of AA's window. The core was still very good and made it to the ALCS again in 2016. Both teams had great chances at making the World Series, two years in a row. But yeah sucks they came up short against the Royals and Cleveland those years. As for 2017, who knows if AA was still around what other moves he would have made during the offseason. AA decided to go all in starting in 2013, which backfired and the team was somewhat decent (83-79) in 2014, but not good enough. Donaldson + Martin the following offseason really helped, but the additions at the trade deadline really pushed the Jays over the final two months and into the Postseason.
