  1. Awesome gif haha
  2. Athletics will be a fun team to watch this year. They're definitely a sleeper.
  3. Still some interesting FA names available: - Lance Lynn - Kyle Gibson - JD Martinez - David Robertson - Joe Kelly - Brooks Raley - Alex Verdugo - Spencer Turnbull - Yasmini Grandal - Anthony Rizzo
  4. Yeah in a perfect world, he would have been a nice fit here for even $7 to 8M if the Jays ended up moving Bassitt and his $21M earlier in the offseason. Would have required having a crystal ball though lol. Woodruff not going to be ready for Opening Day, plus looks like Ashby will miss time in the early going as well. There was an opening for Quintana and he's a reliable/durable arm for them. Don't think Quintana would have found a better situation either.
  5. Yeah ST stats are meaningless. ST stats mean more for young guys trying to crack the MLB roster, or players competing for a certain position. If Anthony Santander goes 3 for 30 over ST, who cares.
  6. So want to ask this question: Would you rather resign Vladdy to an extension around $500M or Bo for around $200M?
  7. Yeah offensively, Bo is still a far superior player and has more upside. Just comparing their contracts. I see Bo using Adames' contract as a benchmark and if he might be able to squeeze out more money next offseason if he returns to being the 4-5 WAR player we saw a couple years ago. I think $250M is the max Bo would get regardless. Unless he goes out and puts up a 8-9 WAR season haha.
  8. Bo will be 28 next season, Adames is going to be 29 this season. Adames posted a 4.8 WAR season and is much better defensively. Not sure Bo would get that much more if anything.
  9. An extension for Bo in comparison to Vladdy haha might not be the worst thing. I doubt Bo gets more than $200M or what Adames got this offseason.
  10. Spanky knows his B-Ball!
  11. Grant will hate this tweet.
  12. Yeah only guy really standing in his way for saves is Romano and his health/effectiveness is in question. Strahm likely would be next in line or worst case is their top setup option so he should provide elite ratios + holds. Yates is 38 and it will be tough passing Scott and others in the BP for saves. Hendriks is intriguing still and has looked great so far this spring, but Chapman in the fold along with Slaten makes the situation more complicated.
  13. If you had to choose one of these 3 to keep in a 20-team dynasty league: Kirby Yates Liam Hendriks Matt Strahm
  14. Why did we get rid of it?
  15. Nobody is saying he would move the needle, but would be a nice second option behind the plate and you might be able to squeeze 1 WAR out of him for $2-3M. Plus, he's a switch hitter, which is nice to have off the bench.
  16. Last season Grandal got 215 AB's in 72 games with the Pirates. Think he got some time on the IL, but even when he got back, with the emergence of Joey Bart, he was still kind of in a part-time role. I think he would sign somewhere to catch 30-40% of the time, and get his 250-300 or so AB's. Like some others have said, he likely doesn't sign anywhere as a starter, unless a team loses their No. 1 catcher to injury. As for Kirk, can he catch 130-140 games per season? I think it's a good idea to have a reliable partner with him in order to keep him fresh. Having Kirk start 110-120 games behind the plate seems more reasonable. Plus, bringing in Grandal allows you to use Kirk at DH, let's say if his bat reverts back to his 2022 form.
  17. Santander you hope is good for 35-40 HR's. Same with Vladdy in his contract year. Bo is capable of hitting between 20-25 HR's over a full season.. A healthy Varsho should be able to hit 20-25 HR's, though there is always the potential for more if he gets locked in. 20+ HR's from Springer would be nice as well. The rest of the lineup: Gimenez, Kirk, Clement, Wagner - those guys might hit between 10-15 HR's each in a perfect world. Another power bat would have been ideal, but oh well.
  18. Yeah, we were saying the same thing when Pivetta signed last week. Atkins would have needed a crystal ball. Unloading Bassitt in mid-November when the FA market for mid-rotation veteran starters was insane, would have freed up $21M. Could have been replaced with Quintana or Lynn at $5-8M on a one-year deal + over $12M in savings + an asset acquired in trade which would have been nice haha. Or having Pivetta at $13.75M AAV. But yeah not much you can do. The other side to it is if the Jays traded Bassitt, failed to sign a starter like Scherzer and if a lot of these vet SP's were scooped up earlier, would have left a big hole in the rotation.
  19. Yeah kinda of puzzled how Turner got $6M from the Cubs, but read supposedly they view him as 1B and 3B depth, so they plan on playing him a bit in the field. Also, likely for playoff experience and veteran presence lol. Would love JDM at DH, but I still see him costing around $8-10M like you said. Would like to see if he has one more good season left in the tank.
  20. I would have kept Berrios in given that he was dealing throughout the first three innings. Would have kept him in until he showed signs of fatigue or breaking down. The Jays signed him to a huge contract extension worth $131M, so you would think they would have trust in him pitching more than 3 innings in a WC elimination game. On the other hand, the strategy didn't really hurt them since they still only lost 2-0. At the end of the day, the bats were non-existent during that game and that series. Not sure the impact the early hook on Berrios had on the team morale amongst the players though. I recall several players were surprised as well.
  21. I get to wear my Ryan Yarbrough jersey again!
  22. Still a lot of solid #4-5 starters available like Quintana, Lynn, Gibson, Turnbull. Heck, I'm sure you can sign each guy for around $5M + incentives on a one-year deal now. Turnbull might even sign a $1-2M deal somewhere haha. Jays rotation is good now though 1 through 5 if its healthy.
