    The Jays have Hutch, Drabek, Nolin, Stroman, Redmond, Rogers, McGowan etc who could all step into the rotation if needed and basically provide similar value Happ would or even more. Plus I'm sure the Jays sign some arms to minor league deals with invites to ST like Marcum, Wolf etc.

    I liked Macier, though never understood why the Jays had to sign him for 3 years which is just absurd for a backup infielder. Players like Maicer, Punto, Nix, Aviles, etc could be had on one-year deals and can be acquired every offseason.

    And you think Colon will be as good as he was in 2013? Secondly, there is no chance Hudson or Kuroda sign here in Toronto. Kuroda either signs with the Yankees, goes back to Japan or retires. Tim Hudson wants to win a championship and I'm sure there are far more NL teams that he has a better chance with. If the Jays want a chance at those arms, likely have to overpay significantly and that's something I wouldn't feel comfortable in doing with pitchers who are almost touching 40.

    No it wouldn't. I'm sure Colon would get lit up at the Rogers Centre and in the AL East. Knowing the Jays luck, Colon wouldn't work out and he'd regress significantly. I like Colon and all, though I wouldn't feel comfortable relying on him as a No. 2 or 3 in this rotation given his age and how he can just implode at anytime.

    It's not going to cost something crazy like Sanchez or Stroman. The Reds have to move him since signing Pena so it's not like they have a huge upper hand in negotiations.

    Hanigan has Tampa Bay written all over him. This is a player I see the Rays going hard after.

    Hanigan isn't going to hit .198 again, lets be realistic. He's a solid contact hitter who doesn't strike out a lot and could get on-base. In 2012, he was worth 2.7 WAR in 112 games, and in 2010 worth 2.1 WAR in just 70 games. From 2010-2012, he has averaged more than 2.0 WAR per season. He'd be a huge upgrade over what the Jays have right now in JPA and Thole. The Jays could live with Hanigan's bat in the lineup hitting 8th or 9th. He'd be a great fit on this team and a huge upgrade behind the plate.

    There were so many posters on here against trading for Latos and Gio I remember. BTS was one of them (he hated Gio).

    He'd be a huge upgrade over Thole. If all he costs is a reliever like Perez or some excess BP arm, the Jays should do it!

    His stuff is legit. He's actually the type of NL pitcher I can see succeeding in the AL East. I'd take him over any current Jays starter right now.

    If the Jays do trade for Samardzija, they may ask for an extension window like they did with Dickey. If they'd be able to lock him up on a reasonable contract, I'd be open to trading for Samardzija.

    Burnett is staying with the Pirates or he retires. I'm not a fan of Colon to be honest, I'm sure the Jays sign him when he's about to burnout.

    I like Samardzija as well, though like you said the cost isn't really worth it. The Jays are better off at looking at free agency instead.

    ? Samardzija was great last season. 214 K's last season and is still under 30.

    Santos is a big Kozma fan. He can tell you how good Kozma is.

    I'd rather have Shelby than Wacha.

    Lilly could be a nice fit somewhere in the NL if he can stay healthy. Since he signed with the Cubs in 2007, he pitched very well when healthy. As a No. 5 starter, he'd be worth rolling the dice on for an NL team that plays in a big ballpark.

    Better than Ramon Ortiz or Edgar Gonzalez that's for sure.

    Though Amaro wants to sign Marlon Byrd at the same price almost. Pretty awful.

    I heard Colorado is in the market for another catcher since they want Rosario to play half of the games at first base. I'm sure JPA would thrive power-wise at Coors Field - he likely would hit between 30-35 HR's, though his other overall numbers would be pretty awful.

    I don't think he'll reach his so-called "potential" in any uniform.

    I don't have a problem with Jeffress stretched out as a starter. If he doesn't pan out than they can stick him back in the pen. I just hope that's not AA's plan to address the starting rotation woes this offseason.

    Lind would appeal to teams who are in need of some pop at 1B/DH. The Mets come to mind (if they non-tender Ike Davis), the Mariners (since Morales is a FA), Colorado (they need a 1B with Helton retired and they could platoon Lind easily at 1B).

    Wow that Upton deal is awful. As for Kershaw, I like Teheran, so Cats Ass is getting a young No. 1 starter. This deal will depend on what Bradley becomes. If Bradley has a year like Shelby, Fernandez or Teheran did last season, then it's a solid deal all around by getting two young high end starters.

    It's pretty funny how some posters are really underselling Jose Bautista's trade value. When guys like Choo are demanding more than Jayson Werth on free agency, Bautista's contract is huge value at 3/$42 million.
