If the Jays were in contention, Utley would make a lot of sense. Right now, he doesn't. Kinsler in the offseason sounds more realistic.

I say Kinsler is a more realistic option this offseason. Though for Profar, it would have to for sure be Bautista or EE +.

You hope Dickey pitches like an ace, Morrow takes that next step forward, Buehrle gives you bulk innings at the back end, Happ pitches decently like he did before he got hurt as a No. 5 and Hutch can be a decent mid rotation arm or better in 2014. Maybe a low cost/high reward type signing etc. Though I don't see the Jays bringing in a Garza or Lincecum and I don't think they even fix their rotation needs anyways. Nolin, Drabek, Deck, Jenkins, Romero as depth sounds good.

Also, the Jays should bring in better pitching depth for Buffalo rather than Ramon Ortiz, Aaron Laffey etc if they expect to compete. It just boggles my mind that Ramon Ortiz is getting another start tonight.

Thats a tough question. I'm not sure they bring Johnson back. I don't see them moving Buehrle unless a team becomes desperate for a starter during the stretch run. Dickey is staying put obviously. Morrow can't be relied on as a No. 1 or 2 - he has shown glimpses of his potential though never over a full season due to inconsistencies and injuries. Romero is just a mess. I think they give one of the spots to Hutch (since he pitched well in his brief time here last season before he got injured). So the rotation should like this in 2014 at the moment: Dickey, Morrow, Buehrle, Hutch. I don't see the Jays going after Garza or Lincecum in the offseason, since they will likely demand more than I'd be willing to offer. Plus, I don't think we have seen AA hand out an enormous FA contract to a big name starter or bat - mostly all the big names have been acquired through trade. Doc would be a nice guy to roll the dice on as a No. 5 starter. I'm sure it would be a marketing move but regardless the rotation still would have large question marks. A.J. Burnett is an interesting FA, though he'll be 37 and I think he's better off suited in the NL somewhere rather than the AL East again. I just don't see AA dipping into free agency - could be wrong but his previous big name acquisitions have all been through trade.

Also, I'm putting Carlos Santana on the block. A young OF would be ideal. If you want to do something around a prospect - I need a consensus top 5-10 guy coming back.

Its a nice deal for both sides. I was offered the same for Price, though couldn't justify trading him just for only one unknown commodity. I think I asked for another prospect like Castellanos which I would have strongly considered. If Price was 30 or 31 like Weaver, then I likely would have done it, though with him still only being 27, it was tough to do.

Guys, Seth Smith is available for a pick upgrade. He's quietly putting together a solid year hitting .283/.357/.452 with 5 HR and 24 RBI. If Cody Ross got a pick upgrade with a .699 OPS, then I'm sure Seth Smith can be a helpful add to someone's team.

Mike Dunn (1 SV, 6 HLD, 1.74 ERA, 20 K's) is available as well. If James Russell is demanding a top 50 pick, or a package of a pick for a 1st/2nd rounder, then I guess Mike Dunn can as well. Dunn has been very solid this season, and likely is next in line for saves with Cishek struggling this season.

Looking to move Lance Berkman for a veteran starting pitcher. Was barked at for offering the idea of Berkman for Kuroda (I actually offended the guy for even suggesting a possible deal around those two lol - the e-mail was hilarious). Also, could move guys like Seth Smith, Trevor Plouffe - they wouldn't cost that much. Rivera is still available - looking more for a high draft pick whether in this draft or next. If I don't get the value I want because managers are saying "well he's retiring at the end of this season..." I'd rather just extract value out of him myself for the rest of the season, rather than trade him for something that won't really impact my squad that much. Vernon Wells is on the block as well. Before you laugh, he's on pace to go 30/100 and has CF eligibility, so a team looking for an offensive boost in centre, shoot me an email.

Possibly, though I remember the Jays saying before having him work multiple days in the week out of the pen would make him more susceptible to injury. I remember back in 2011 they said they'd rather just have McGowan throw every 5th day rather than have an uncertain schedule. Might be used out of the BP first and then eased back into the rotation.

Are you serious judging long term value of relievers here? Sure if we are talking about a Kimbrel, Jansen, Romo, Chapman etc. Though your talking about two washed up scrubs in K-Rod and Marmol, who have little value at all. I could easily go out and pick up a reliever for Holds off the waiver wire who can post up solid peripherals. Even though this is Mariano's last season, he still has far more value than Marmol and K-Rod combined lol. Like I said gents, don't waste your time with Marmol and K-Rod. Rivera is on the block. Send in the offers.

I don't know what to think of the deal. I like Wieters and all though I doubt he becomes the monster in fantasy baseball that we all expected a couple of years ago. He's still young and offensively catchers are a thin position in fantasy baseball. Harvey has been amazing thus far, though can he keep up pitching at this high of a level for the remainder of the season? And will he always be a Top 10 starter off the board in every draft moving forward? I don't know...it's a tough deal to completely analyze at this time - will have to judge it better 2-3 years down the road, especially if that first rounder Chris takes turns out to be a stud who's close to the Majors.

Heck, he's actually has had good peripherals this season. If he doesn't go on the DL, I think he can turn it around pitching in the NL West and at that pitchers park. I would have easily given him a mid round-late round pick.
