  2. Rolling with Anderson as a back end starter is definitely worth the risk, since he could provide a lot of value if healthy. If Brett Anderson is the only pitcher the Jays bring in, I'd be extremely disappointed. Though if the Jays also sign a more solid option like Garza, I'd definitely be happy with Anderson as a No. 4 or 5 since he has the potential to pitch like a No. 2 or 3 when healthy. Dickey Garza Buerhrle Morrow Anderson Depth: Nolin, Stroman, Hutch, Drabek, Rogers, Redmond, Jenkins, any other minor league FA. Rotation would look in good shape and the Jays have enough depth in their minors to fill in for Morrow or Anderson if needed.
  3. Everything might be done before the meetings next week lol.
  4. Some big statements being made on this board over the last 24 hours lol.
  5. I knew the Rays were going to be all over Hanigan - just a typical Rays move. Ah I'm disappointed!
  6. That's not how the Rays as an organization do business lol. Still, since Molina was on their team previously and the Rays resigned him, they would still be able to trade him anytime before June correct? I think that rule only applies to FA's who sign with new teams...
  7. Damn. What did I say about the Rays landing Hanigan. This is a real blow.
  8. As a backup or insurance in Buffalo, I'd like Marson.
  9. They have AJ and David Ross now, so I don't see them having a use for Salty. I could see Salty landing with the White Sox.
  10. Playing in that ballpark, I wouldn't be shocked to see AJ post an OPS above .800
  11. Kind of saw this one coming.
  12. I'd love to see the Jays sign Daniel Hudson. He's a fantastic pitcher when healthy.
  13. Oh wow, I can't believe it. I love Hudson - have been a fan since he was drafted and coming up through the minors. He looked like he was going to be one of the better starters in baseball back in 2011! I'd love to see the Jays sign him up - likely won't be ready until July, but still wow!
  14. I think in my posts I made it clear on what I meant when using the definition of "ace" or "No.1." Regardless, that was the point I was trying to get across. Fister is a great pitcher and I'm a huge fan of his, no doubt. As for rating pitchers, everyone's rankings will be different. Do I consider Fister a top 30-40 pitcher in the game? Sure he's definitely in that range somewhere. There are still other pitchers who aren't "No.1's" that I consider better than Fister. Though when I saw the phrase "borderline ace" I thought we were talking about being a top 10-15 pitcher in all of baseball. Case closed though!
  15. It's quite ridiculous. Seeing the word "ace" and Fister in the same sentence just struck me as odd. He's a great pitcher and all, though seriously? Thanks for the support! Seemed like all the members of the Fister fan club were all ganging up on me lol.
  16. Fister is not close to the best, like Kershaw, Hernandez, Verlander, Wainwright etc. There are so many other starters who'd I consider closer to them than him. He's a solid pitcher and I think he's been great the past three years, though he's not close to their playing field.
  17. This is mind boggling from Detroit's perspective. I'm shocked they never held out for more, especially with the cost of FA starters this offseason. Fister on the open market would get a sweet deal.
  18. In my opinion, these are some of the pitchers who I'd take over Fister: Kershaw Grienke Bumgarner Cain Wainwright Miller Lynn Cole Bailey Latos Cueto Cingrini Strasburg Zimmermann Gonzalez Fernandez Lee Hamels Teheran Minor Medlen Harvey (when healthy) Price Cobb Sabathia Lester Peavy Verlander Scherzer Sanchez Shields Sale Hernandez Darvish Holland Weaver Like I said, I think Fister is a great starter so I don't know what the point of arguing is. I just don't view him as a No. 1 starter.
  19. Where did I say Fister wasn't going to be "a reliable source for great production going into next season?" I said he was a great pitcher. I just don't consider him close to being an ace.
  20. So I guess that means Bud Norris all these years has been an ace and No. 1 starter with the Astros? When I use the word "ace" or "No. 1 starter," I'm not using them in the terms of a team's rotation. I'm using them in my own evaluations of pitchers and what they are. For example Norris was the "ace" of Houston's rotation, though do I consider him a true No. 1 starter - nope.
  21. He's a great pitcher (not arguing that). I just don't consider him in the same class as a Kershaw, Hernandez, Wainwright etc, who I view as elite No. 1 guys.
  22. What does the number 30 have to do with anything? Are there 30 No. 1 starters in all of baseball? In terms of an elite No. 1 starter, there aren't many around. I consider guys like Kershaw, Hernandez, Wainwright, Verlander etc. as true No. 1 starters.
  23. Fister is not an ace. He's been a very solid pitcher over the last three years, though he's not an elite No. 1 starter.
  24. You would also figure a reliever like Storen or Clippard. Still if this true, then great deal for the Nats.
  25. A "borderline ace?" I wouldn't go that far.
