  1. He'll save the bullpen: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UJKHQG1xMDk/THx4Uw1Aq8I/AAAAAAAAAQQ/XhFhcQZXCNI/s1600/tallet.jpg
  2. Not necessarily. If the Jays went out and added some value arms for the 7th/8th inning, the bullpen could be fine. Go out and sign Luke Gregerson to pitch in the 8th and also another arm like Crain, Frasor, Hochevar, or Mike Adams. Also, bring in another cheap lefty like Scott Downs, Zach Duke or Tom Gorzelanny. Chad Jenkins Todd Redmond Scott Downs/Tom Gorzelanny/Zach Duke Jason Frasor/Jesse Crain/Mike Adams Aaron Loup Luke Gregerson Brett Cecil That's not a bad pen and it wouldn't cost much.
  3. Yeah Sanchez has been a lock out of the pen this season, though I'd prefer to see if he could make it as a starter. I'd rather get 150-180 of quality innings out of the rotation from him next season vs. 60 superb innings out of the pen. Worse case scenario, if Sanchez doesn't make it as a starter you know you have a lights out reliever. I hope they just don't mess around with him and give him every opportunity this spring to prepare as a starter.
  4. It will be interesting to see how many votes Russell Martin gets...
  5. Is Aaron Sanchez wearing a suit and bow tie? He got off easy, though he deserves it lol.

    Blocked punt!
  7. Yeah I'd sign him back at a reduced salary, if it was reasonable. Tough giving up a live arm like his for nothing. I hope they try and do something like they did with McGowan a couple of years ago.

  9. Gregerson is interesting, even as a setup man. I'd definitely take a chance on someone like Crain, Adams, Hochevar or Fujikawa for the 7th/8th inning - they shouldn't be that expensive.

  11. He was the most intimidating closer...coming out to Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise blasting the speakers at the Rogers Centre! http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/711644/miguelbatistaheadshot.jpg

  13. Or if he looked like this: http://mopupduty.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/billy-koch11.jpg
  14. Sergio Romo is an interesting target...his season in 2011 was amazing. Doubt he ever repeats that performance, though he'll provide solid K/9 rates and BB/9 rates. I'd rather go after Romo than pay a premium on David Robertson if I were a GM.
  15. Or I could see AA going after some veteran arms like a LaTroy Hawkins, or Jason Grilli for cheap, kind of like how he signed Francisco Cordero, Jon Rauch and Kevin Gregg a couple of years ago. Hopefully that's not the case though.
  16. What do you guys think? He was a closer in college and he has posted a 12.95 K/9, 2.55 xFIP and 1.1 WAR this season. His walk rate is a bit high at 4.81 BB/9, though if he struggled with control in the first half and in the second half of the season his BB/9 rates have been in line with his career averages. I think Cecil has the stuff and makeup to be an elite closer. Look at some lefties like McGee and Doolittle this season. Even BJ Ryan made a successful transition from a 7th-8th guy to a closer. Screw Casey Janssen and Sergio Santos. Cecil for closer in 2015. Discuss...
  17. I had a nice little run this season. Considering how my team started out and some of the major disappointments this season (Minor, Shelby, Cingrani, Beltran, bullpen at the beginning of the season), I made some key moves this summer which had a significant impact. Tough going into the first round down 2 roster spots (Beltran and Castro) and with Soriano being removed from high leverage situations. Plus going up against a rotation of Kershaw, Zimmerman, Weaver, Verlander 2x in the same week doesn't bold well. Wish my lineup hit like they did last week, out of all the times to go off they do it against Boxy during the last week of the regular season ugh. Regardless, I like my team more now than I did at the beginning of this season. I'm looking forward to this offseason and 2015. I have some nice core pieces with Posey, Freeman, Tulo, Arenado, Brantley, Castro, & d'Arnaud along with some intriguing arms in Greinke, Ross, Hughes, Tillman, Peralta, and Fiers to build around. A rebound season from Mike Minor and Carlos Beltran could go a long way.

Good thing I got the Rogers Super Sports Pack. TSN isn't showing any NFL games at 1PM, instead they have 4 channels dedicated to the CFL game Hamilton vs Saskatchewan.
  21. Finally the administrators woke up and did something. Ridiculous that they allowed that crap to go on for as long as it did.
