  1. The Mets would have eaten most of the $ remaining on Walker's contract, which they did when they moved him to the Brewers. Cozart is a FA after 2017 as well and likely the Reds don't offer ARB on him, so they technically will lose him for nothing. I don't see how the Reds would have been in a position to ask a "ton" for him. Beckham has always shown flashes of decent pop and even before his tear, would have been a huge upgrade over Goins & Barney. Jays were 3 GB of a playoff spot two weeks ago. Like I said, not sure it would have made a difference now though there is no denying that adding one of those players would have been significant upgrades over Goins & Barney over this last month and it wouldn't have cost them much via trade. Even if the Jays missed the playoffs, they get to evaluate a player over the next two months and who they could have possibly brought back for next season.
  2. I said the the Jays should have looked to acquire one of those guys at the DEADLINE this season! So no, my argument is not incredibly flawed. Knowing both Tulo & Travis were gone for the year, it wouldn't have hurt the Jays long term by trading for one of those guys considering the price tag was pretty cheap. They would have been significant upgrades over Goins, Barney & Refs for the rest of the season. Jays at one point two weeks ago were only 3GB of a Wildcard spot.
  3. Tim Beckham would have been a perfect fit IMO, though it's too late now. Can't believe Tampa gave him away for nothing. Gurriel is likely that guy at some point. Barney has given the Jays -0.8 WAR this season. He's alright as a bench option, though don't want to see him playing everyday. Obviously injuries to Travis and Tulo made that happen, though I just hope the Jays are better prepared heading into next season because I don't want to see Goins or Barney playing everyday again. Not saying this would have made a difference in terms of nabbing the 2nd wildcard spot, though still pretty appalling why the team never went out to acquire a MI at the deadline considering how bad the AL Wildcard was this season and when they likely would have come cheap. Someone like a Jed Lowrie, Neil Walker, Zach Cozart, Tim Beckham etc. wouldn't have cost a whole lot in terms of prospect capital and would have been huge upgrades over Goins & Barney right now.
  4. Would like to see the Jays go after a super-utility MI who you could give 400AB-450AB's without hesitation & who could rotate between 2B and SS on a regular basis with Travis and Tulo still in the picture. I've had enough of Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney.
  5. I like Lynn, but he scares me if he moves to the AL, especially the AL East.
  6. Could have had him for next to nothing last offseason. If we go based on what happened last offseason with FA sluggers, I think Bruce gets something along the lines of what Trumbo got (3yrs/37M), considering it's a weak market as well.
  7. Can thank me for Luke Weaver. Along with my 1st, 2nd, 3rd round draft picks and my 1st/2nd waiver picks for the waiver draft in February. Though according to some, I didn't pay enough for Roberto Osuna.
  8. What's new? These types of games are why the Jays aren't in the hunt for the Wildcard this season.
  9. Citi Field is a lot nicer IMO. More character to it and far better food & beer options.
  10. He had a pretty solid year last season hitting 36 bombs. Still looks like a consistent 3-4 WAR player moving forward with the potential to maybe squeeze in another 5-6 WAR season perhaps if he has a season where all things click.
  11. With Castro coming off the DL, could likely move either one of Castro or Zobrist now if any team is looking for a second baseman. I'm still in Texas, though can still respond to trade offers or have some discussion during downtime at the hotel.
  12. I'll return again for this season.
  13. Would have been a great fit with the Jays as a MI who could rotate between Travis & Tulo next season and in case one gets injured, Beckham starts at either 2B or SS. Far better than running out guys like Ryan Goins or Barney on a regular basis. Glad I never dropped him or traded him for peanuts in the LOD.
  14. I'm waiting on this trade obviously to see if it goes through. I'll send you a PM later. As you can tell, it's been pretty hectic on here this afternoon.
  15. If I was a new member in this league and given a choice on two teams to takeover - either the True Cardinals or Georgia Peach - I probably would go with the latter option.
  16. I don't think Gibbers has anything to gain in giving me preferential treatment when it comes to fantasy baseball. I even made my intentions clear this morning on what I was looking to add before the deadline. I said I'd like to add a MI with multi-poistion eligibility since Zobrist looks sucky now. I searched through some rosters and saw Gibbers had Cozart. I figured since he has Correa and Baez already that he could be open to moving him so I sent him a message and it went from there.
  17. I actually met Gibbers today and we talked over lunch. I then asked him "Hey bud, could you help a friend out and trade me Zach Cozart in the DDL?" And he was like, "Sure Sal, you're one of my greatest buddies in this league, anything to help you out!" Why don't you lead an FBI investigation on this matter while you're at it?
  18. I could say the same thing about Sammy. He never responds to trade offers on Yahoo or PM's for weeks or months. And then all of sudden he pulls off a trade with Silvergun or others? I could make the same claims as you just made. Again, doesn't bother me. I'll just likely turn to a manager who I have good discussions with or trade with a lot. I think we all have favourite managers we deal with more than others. P.S. and you're one of them we pretty much don't beat around the bush in trade discussions and both have an idea of what we both are looking for so that makes trades pretty much easy & quick. So yeah I prefer making trades with you more than others.
  19. So I make a lot of trades with Gibbers, what does that have to do with anything? Again, this whole thing is overblown. Like even the Hurl said, we all have preferred trading partners/board members we have trade discussions with etc. I don't see how your argument is valid. And if you use the example of him spoon feeding me in trades for Posey and Marte, I'll turn to your Correa trade again.
  20. Posts like these are really immature and idiotic. You're not helping the situation here as others are trying to have a reasonable discussion.
  21. I think like you said, Gibbers has better things on his agenda than helping my DDL team. If he did, I'm sure Carlos Correa would have already been on my roster. So these claims of collusion and the both of us threatening the integrity of this league is kind of bush league if you ask me, especially after both of our track records on this forum and in other leagues. It's not like we're both just new members here. The level of anger is really overblown. If that's the case, I'll resign from all my board fantasy leagues. As for Cozart, I asked him what he wanted. In a sophisticated league with well respected posters as this one, I don't think we need our hands held when making trades. And like you've said, he probably has received very little action on Cozart to date. I've shopped guys who've had breakouts like Eddie Rosario & Lonnie Chisenhall frequently and have had no interest or PM's my way whatsoever from the other 19 teams. So if someone came in and offered me a young high upside reliever with excellent peripherals or a 1st rounder, I would likely take it without even blinking an eye. BTS kind of contradicted himself a couple of posts back when he was asking for a Top 100 guy for Givens. So if a reliever like Givens is worth a Top 100 guy, then I guess you can make an argument for Steck even if I picked him up off waivers last week. Gibbers is a prospect junkie, so he probably knew of Steck before I did. He's had a real solid career to date in the minors and has a chance to become a nice BP arm. Some guys slip through the crack all the time in 20-team leagues like this. Heck, in all my trade discussions yesterday in the LOD, mostly every team who was looking for a high pick asked me about Steck. In Miami, he now has been given the opportunity to pitch in high leverage situations, so moving forward he probably provides the same value as Givens does. Only thing Givens has is a bit of a longer track record in the Majors. So if Givens is worth a Top 100 prospect in the eyes of BTS, why is it wrong for Gibbers to view Steck as having the same value as a Top 100 guy? If that's the case, then I guess we should all rank our players/prospects according to what BTS thinks. The point I'm trying to make here is that everyone values players/pitchers/prospects differently. We shouldn't have a manager or managers determine that value for others when it comes to trades/FA acquisitions/draft picks etc. None of us need to be babied or told what to do. Not everyone is easy to get a hold of. Sammy doesn't even respond to trade proposals over Yahoo and lets them expire and rarely replies to PM's. So thats why I hardly ever look to him when trying to make a trade because I know its difficult to get a hold of him and I don't have the time to sit around and wait for a week or 10 days etc. I don't have an issue with that, though just building off with what Hurl said, we all have managers that we communicate/talk with more than others. I'll probably chat with Gibbers, CatAss, you, the Hurl, Dinger, P2F, Jays4Life etc. when its comes to trades more than others since I know how to get a hold of him and usually get a swift response. Aside from that, Tulo is also going GP's way. I'm sure other managers will laugh, though I doubt any one of the 18 managers would have traded Tulo for Cozart prior to the 2017 season. Like you said, it's not like Cozart isn't a spring chicken. The guy is 32 and the likelihood of him hitting this way next season or for the next 2-3 years are very slim.
  22. I don't have a problem with your trade that you made and I don't care. You're a responsible poster on this board who can manage his own team. I was just using it as an example since it was ok for you to criticize and nitpick my previous trades with GP, then I guess other trades are fair game as well. And what I said about you, I think I can speak to the other 19 managers in this league and others. We're all responsible and well respected posters on here who can manage our own teams. We've never had a problem with collusion or questioning the integrity of others and we don't have a problem with that.
  23. Haha I'm a six time champ? I wish. I've only won that league twice.
