  1. Not sure they would sign here to be in a platoon, other than Pollock or Grossman maybe.
  2. Also, have to ask how much have the Yankees and other AL East teams improved? For the Yankees, Rodon is going to be a huge upgrade to their rotation if he's healthy, though their lineup IMO is pretty much the same or even a bit worse than it will be in 2022. Judge will have some regression. Same with their bullpen. Baltimore didn't do much to add to their young core, but they should still be decent. Though don't see them winning 90-95 games. Tampa Bay will always be Tampa Bay and can be a thorn in the side, though I see their floor as 90 wins. Boston is going to be a last place team. Overall, Yankees will still be the No. 1 threat, but if the Jays don't dig themselves in a huge hole early and play more consistently, they have a chance to fend off the Yankees for the division.
  3. If Pollock can be signed and if there is roster space, would be a nice pickup as a 4th OF who starts against LHP. Jays have ran successful platoons in the past. Look at Catalanotto and Reed Johnson back from 2003-2006.
  4. Positional flexibility is definitely a huge advantage for the 2023 roster. Something this team really didn't have last season. Like you said, Jays have three players who can play CF very well in Springer, Varsho and KK. They have two solid catchers and Varsho who could play behind the plate as well. Depth at 2B with Biggio, Merrifield and Espinal, while one of Biggio or Merrifield who could play a corner OF spot if need be. Biggio could also play 1B and 3B if need be, same with Espinal at 3B.
  5. Blue Jays could still add to the 2023 roster so we'll see what happens. The lineup could be better in 2023 if Vlad returns to being a 5-6 WAR player. We need the Vlad of 2021 to return in 2023. Varsho with the bat will contribute solid power as well, similar to Teo or even better IMO. Defensively, this team is greatly improved. Adding KK, Varsho to the outfield is a huge upgrade. Rotation: I think is the same. Bassitt replaces Ryu. Lets see if the Jays add more depth, which I think will be the important factor. Bullpen: Adding Swanson was nice, but overall I don't see much of a huge difference. Maybe one of Pearson or Merryweather break out and that could definitely change things. Like Laika said earlier, this roster is more diverse and in better overall shape given the defensive upgrades.
  6. What happened in the thread? It was a good thread. Should have been moved to the OT thread.
  7. I don't have a problem with this trade at all. I know we all loved Moreno, though lets say he played at the Majors this season and struggled offensively - what happens to his trade value afterwards? Varsho is exactly the perfect fit and exactly what the Jays 2023 roster needed. Left-handed bat with power, a stud defensively and can even play behind the plate the odd time. He's under club control until 2027 and will be 26 next season, so the Jays have him during what should be his prime years. Pretty excited about this one. Glad Atkins did shake things up this offseason. The FO did a great job to address issues that plagued them in 2022. Let's hope they could add maybe one more elite LHP reliever and another No. 5 starter if possible, though otherwise this has been a very nice offseason for the Jays!
  8. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trade-proposals-for-2023 Red Sox get: C Danny Jansen Blue Jays get: OF Alex Verdugo, 2B Nick Yorke (Red Sox's No. 4 prospect) What do you guys think of that trade idea?
  9. Such a stupid rule they have. It's not like we're talking about these guys working in an office etc. They're professional ballplayers. Let them grow their beards haha.

Double Chance is a great category to do a 3-4 game parlay with. Pick either team to win and you get some good odds. Just hope the game doesn't go into OT. So far have been successful on 3 of 4 those type of bets. If you can get the odds down to -100 something, not bad.

I thought it was because of the snow storm/freezing rain tonight/tomorrow around the GTA which is why they moved it up, but couldn't find anything.
  12. Red sign Wil Myers to a one-year deal. Hitting in that bandbox should help his numbers a bit.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/best-mlb-lineups-in-2023-predictions Jays lineup ranked 4th.

2PM puck drop today. Weird start time haha.
  15. Eovaldi would definitely be a clear upgrade and as Jonn mentioned in the Postseason he has experience as a dominant multi-inning reliever which is intriguing. Whereas Cueto or Kluber really would have no use on the Postseason roster unless there is an injury or two to one of the guys ahead of him. You can never have enough pitching, though if Eovaldi is going to cost just a couple million more than Kluber/Cueto, better just to spend the extra money on getting him.
  16. Better to spend $10-12M on Kluber or Cueto IMO.
  17. Kluber would be my main target as the No. 5 guy. 3.0 WAR last season, experience pitching in the AL and the AL East. 3.57 FIP last season and made 31 starts. 7.63 K/9 last season which was low for him but in 2021 posted a 9.23 K/9 with the Yankees, so I think he could fall somewhere in the middle. Probably will cost $10-12M on a one-year deal and could always include an option. Plus, Shapiro/Atkins connection. Would solidify the rotation perfectly IMO. Gausman Manoah Bassitt Berrios Kluber Depth: Kikuchi White + others Rotation built well for a 162 game season and if injuries occur, will be able to weather the storm over a short or extended period if need be without scrambling.
  18. Cueto or Kluber would be my picks. Shapiro/Atkins can probably lure in Kluber because of their days in Cleveland. Don't think Greinke would come here.
  19. You only bring in an extra arm for depth purposes, but yeah I don't see there being much of a difference between White and Wacha in 2023. Not sure its worth paying Wacha as a No. 5 when you can target a better arm. Maybe someone like Cueto or Kluber can be an upgrade to the rotation as a No. 5 starter. Better to target one of them IMO.
  20. Yeah exactly. That's why I don't like condos at all, only if you purchase pre-construction and hold a unit short term. As well, properties get a tax reassessment in Florida correct? So for example lets say that property was assessed $100K five years ago and then you paid $350-400K for it this year, property tax rate increases big time.
  21. Hendricks would definitely take this bullpen from good to elite. I would definitely be open to moving Jansen for him especially if the White Sox kicked in some extra cash. Like Glory said, his 2024 option becomes guaranteed so it's like having Hendriks on a 2/$29M contract which in today's market is very good. Nothing long term which is nice and gives the Jays one of the best elite BP arms in the games over the next two seasons, when they're trying to contend for a World Series.
  22. Yeah condo market in Florida is still relatively cheap, depending on where you buy. Anything with an ocean view though is quite expensive haha.
  23. Yeah Florida market should always remain strong since there are so many buyers from other parts of the States and Canada and elsewhere in the world. Prices haven't cooled down that much since last Spring.
  24. Yeah prices returned to 2018/2019 levels pre-COVID. I think they will stay the same for another year or so. Seems like everything is going back to normal. More immigration coming in, interest rates should pause I think, and people will start looking to buy again especially in the GTA. Probably will see a bit of a bump in 2024/2025.
