  1. Pinder on a MiLB deal would be nice. A 4th outfielder like Pollock who can mash LHP would have been sweet but would have cost $7 million or more. Not sure the Jays want to fork out that cash on a 4th outfielder and go over the luxury tax. Other guys who could be had on MiLB deals include Monte Harrison.

Yeah Bills should crush the Dolphins at home next weekend.

Sucks Buffalo won't get home field throughout the Playoffs, but there isn't much you can do with the Bengals/Bills game. Was still the right call to suspend it at the time.
  4. Hutch is a nice depth signing for sure. Let's hope we don't see him make any starts at the MLB level haha, but if you need him for 2-3 starts or some washup innings out of the pen, not bad. Blue Jays should bring Daniel Norris on a MiLB contract.
  5. Yeah a team with a strong roster of young players or pitchers can definitely take the hit of losing a top FA. As long as they field an exciting roster that is competitive, fans won't care so much. Astros the last couple of years are a perfect example like you said after losing Cole, Verlander and Correa. Even the Cards after they lost Pujols as well.
  6. Yeah and also the fact the Jays are a contending team, so hopefully that draws one of them to Toronto.
  7. Yeah or if they use a 6 man rotation though doubt that. Houser isn't that good so I see him in the pen. Ashby could be a multi-inning fireman with some nice upside. He's actually a decent starter but he could be a lights out BP arm for sure.
  8. Would rather sign these guys now at the end of the offseason instead of scrambling through the season looking for a reliable starting pitcher or a competent 4th outfielder. Depth was an issue earlier last season and we saw it hurt them when they had to trot out guys like Tapia or Zimmer everyday or having to give innings to Kikuchi and other scrubs. An arm like Cueto helps more over 162 games rather than the Postseason. IMO the Jays have a solid Postseason roster with a strong front of the rotation, sound defensive teams, roster flexibility etc. Maybe just need another elite high K pen arm as icing on the cake. Otherwise, the goal should be getting this team to the Postseason, so roster depth will always be important. Hope they can be creative with the payroll situation and don't have to go over.

Raps always play well at home. Still unbelievable to make that comeback against a tough team. Maybe this lights the fire under them and they can go on a little bit a role. They have a lot of home games in January.

Gold Medal game tonight damn, gotta watch!
  11. Yeah can probably sign him to a MiLB deal. Worth the gamble for sure.
  12. Their rotation is pretty full as is - Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer, Ashby, Houser. Unless one of Burnes/Woodruff are traded or an injury happens. He's fighting for that last No. 5 spot unless he's given it over Ashby. Houser should start the year in the pen.
  13. Things looked so promising regarding their position players after 2002. Hinske, Josh Phelps looked like he was going to be a stud, Orlando Hudson, Vernon Wells all having breakouts in 2002. Phelps fell off the map completely.
  14. Also, gotta figure Springer and KK will spend time on the IL this season, so why not.

Yeah the way Siakam is playing this season, he looks like a legit star or 1A type guy now. Plus his contract isn't that bad when you factor how NBA player salaries have been increasing every season. I think FVV and Trent need to be traded. We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks if the team can get back to .500 though don't think its worth coming in 7th or 8th and getting knocked out in the first round.

If you want to grab a bite to eat before the game, the Longo's at Maple Leaf Square has a bar/restaurant after the cashiers near the Starbucks and the food is great value. The pizzas there are awesome. Great selection of Ontario craft beer and wine. Overall, a lot more reasonable than Real Sports or any other bar down there. If you want to splurge, then Real Sports is cool if you've never been but nothing special IMO. The Scotia Club on Level 200 is a great place to go during intermission, but for next time when you don't have the 7-year-old. I always go there for halftime at Raptors games. Best bartenders are Jimmy and Compton.
  17. That lineup in 2015 was one of the best.
  18. Go Jays Go! Hope the Jays could win a World Series in 2023! Happy New Year and looking forward to more awesome baseball discussion on this board!
  19. Not many bullpen arms left other than some lottery tickets like Chapman, Britton, Green etc. Maybe Chafin and Moore are the only two, but meh.
  20. Hope luck is on the Jays side this season for the bullpen. We need one or two of these arms to have a significant impact.
  21. I think we'll see more minor league signings closer to ST, since I'm sure some players and arms are hoping to land guaranteed contracts given the way the market has been. If they don't, you'll see a bunch of those guys signing MiLB deals.

Yeah this weekend will be tough against the Bengals. Right now, the Bengals scare me more than the Chiefs. Gotta hope Buffalo wins their last two games to hold home field advantage.
  23. Yeah other than Arozarena, Lowe (if he returns to his 2021 form) and Franco if he breaks out, their offense is isn't anything special. Missing an impact bat or two for sure. It's a shame to let that amazing pitching staff go to waste.
