If you want to grab a bite to eat before the game, the Longo's at Maple Leaf Square has a bar/restaurant after the cashiers near the Starbucks and the food is great value. The pizzas there are awesome. Great selection of Ontario craft beer and wine. Overall, a lot more reasonable than Real Sports or any other bar down there. If you want to splurge, then Real Sports is cool if you've never been but nothing special IMO. The Scotia Club on Level 200 is a great place to go during intermission, but for next time when you don't have the 7-year-old. I always go there for halftime at Raptors games. Best bartenders are Jimmy and Compton.
  2. That lineup in 2015 was one of the best.
  3. Go Jays Go! Hope the Jays could win a World Series in 2023! Happy New Year and looking forward to more awesome baseball discussion on this board!
  4. Not many bullpen arms left other than some lottery tickets like Chapman, Britton, Green etc. Maybe Chafin and Moore are the only two, but meh.
  5. Hope luck is on the Jays side this season for the bullpen. We need one or two of these arms to have a significant impact.
  6. I think we'll see more minor league signings closer to ST, since I'm sure some players and arms are hoping to land guaranteed contracts given the way the market has been. If they don't, you'll see a bunch of those guys signing MiLB deals.

Yeah this weekend will be tough against the Bengals. Right now, the Bengals scare me more than the Chiefs. Gotta hope Buffalo wins their last two games to hold home field advantage.
  8. Yeah other than Arozarena, Lowe (if he returns to his 2021 form) and Franco if he breaks out, their offense is isn't anything special. Missing an impact bat or two for sure. It's a shame to let that amazing pitching staff go to waste.

Bet the Grizzlies or Raptors tonight?
  10. Yeah Wilko pointed out doesn't factor the Varsho trade. They should be higher IMO. I love the Rays pitching staff, but they don't have the bats IMO to be a Top 5 team. I would drop them to 8th or 9th. Astros should be in the Top 5 IMO. I still think they're the team to beat in the AL, though for sure a lot of AL West teams did close the gap on them.
  11. I would have the Rays in my Top 10. Not sure I would have them in the top 5 though.
  12. I'm shocked the Rays are ranked 5th. Ahead of both the Astros and Jays in the AL.
  13. 1) Mets 2) Padres 3) Yankees 4) Braves 5) Rays 6) Astros 7) Cardinals 8) Blue Jays 9) Dodgers 10) Guardians
  14. ESPN ranked all 30 MLB teams: https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/35292245/ranking-all-30-mlb-teams-biggest-free-agents-signed
  15. Yeah they will be in WC contention if they stay healthy. Like you said, I think it's more with the way they got there like spending hundreds of millions on contracts over the past two years which is at the back of everyone minds.
  16. McCutchen or Pollock would be really solid bench players who can mash LHP and provide some value on the basepaths. Some guys maybe on MiLB deals could be interesting as well like Chad Pinder. Adam Engel is interesting but think he lands a MLB contract somewhere and not sure he would sign to be a bench bat.
  17. One of the funniest movies from the 90s haha. I wish they made a 4th one, but Mike Myers is probably too old lol.
  18. https://www.mlb.com/news/2023-mlb-award-winner-predictions Meh, too much love for Boston.

Yeah agree. I don't think its worth finishing in 8th place and getting knocked out in the first round. Or even worse, finish 9th or 10th and not even sniff the playoffs. Definitely need to trade FVV and Trent. Would definitely be open to trading Siakam for a haul like Utah did with Mitchell and Gobert.
  20. I guess it's all about TV contracts and money. Even though Boston sucks, those games against the Yankees generate a lot of TV revenue. I agree, would rather watch the Braves vs. Mets or Dodges vs. Padres instead of Red Sox/Yankees or Cardinals/Cubs.
  21. Dunning probably isn't even in the rotation if everyone is healthy at the end of ST. Out of their home grown arms, at least he has some potential to be decent.
  22. Yeah Odorizzi IMO is more of a No. 5 right now. Still a decent arm for innings and depth. Dunning could be considered a No. 4 in the rotation. He's still young with some upside so I'll give it to him. So they probably have four or five No. 3-4 starters in their rotation. Any injuries though especially to deGrom or Heaney or another arm over a long period will definitely hurt.
  23. Also depends on who the Jays face more outside of the division. If its the Royals, Tigers, or A's fantastic! If it's better teams like the Astros, Mariners or Guardians...

A lot of their top players have regressed this season, especially Fred VanVleet only shooting 38.2 FG% and who has been injured on and off. Barnes hasn't taken that next step yet and struggling in his sophomore season. Trent has been meh. Also, this team hasn't been fully healthy it seems. I think VanVleet or Trent get moved at some point if the team doesn't get out of this rut.
  25. I wouldn't mind him either but he'll likely cost Kluber money and is he much of an upgrade or does he just push Kikuchi/White back a spot? He has to be guaranteed to put together a 2.4 WAR season again for him to be an upgrade. Any regression likely doesn't make him any better than Mitch White or Kikuchi. Plus Jays likely would have to drop or trade someone from the roster. Maybe the Jays could sign an arm like Pineda, Lindblom etc. to a MiLB deal before ST starts and let them fight for the No. 5 spot in ST or keep them for depth in Buffalo. The more I think about it, Danny Duffy makes the perfect sense. Likely gets a deal around $4-5 million with incentives. He can be useful out of the bullpen as an extra lefty or long man if he isn't in the rotation and you can always stretch him out as a starter if the situation during the season arises.
