  1. I'll go with Vladdy today
  2. The FO has done a great job at upgrading the MLB roster every season (Springer, Gausman, trading for Chapman, players on 1-year deals like Belt, Kiermier, Semien etc.) but their drafting and player development has been terrible. So I wouldn't consider them upper half.
  3. I think the rational posters on here agree Atkins has done a lot of things right during his time here. Signing guys like Semien, Belt, Kiermier on one-year deals, Gausman contract, Springer contract, trading for Ray and letting him walk as a FA, signing Bassitt, trading for Berrios, trading for Chapman, etc. He's botched some FA contracts like with Ryu, Roark, Garcia, Morales, some relievers, botched the Josh Donaldson trade, failed to lock up elite talent like Bo or at the time Vladdy after 2021. As well, drafting and player development during his tenure has been terrible and considering this team was awful in 2017, 2018 and 2019, you would think they would have some young players to show for it. As well, he's failed to take this team to the next level on numerous occasions. This team feels like a team that just fights for a WC seed and loses in the WC round or ALDS. Again Atkins has been overall a decent GM, though he hasn't been exactly spectacular. There is nothing wrong in criticizing him or his decisions. Also, some posters need to acknowledge Atkins has done several good things as well.
  4. Yeah same here but sucks one game cost them. Their lineup was clicking on all cylinders and looked downright scary. Hope it doesn't happen again this season.
  5. This team is inconsistent. They look great during one series and then look awful during the next. It's frustrating but we're already in the middle of June and and what we've seen to this point is what this team is. They're not one of the elite teams in baseball as they were hyped up to be the last two seasons.

Yeah disappointing to see both series done in 5 games. In the NBA, only Game 2 and some parts of Game 5 were good. Rest were blowouts. Panthers played well in Game 3 and almost came back in Game 4 but the rest of the games sucked.

Sorry about your bet Spanky. I bet $30 for Florida to win tonight but ugh. Wish we could have had one or two more games in the Stanley Cup but oh well!
  8. Sucks that the Rockies are an awful organization. Coors Field is one of the best ballparks in baseball IMO.
  9. 21 game winning streak coming up. Should bet Oakland tomorrow but watch me lose after haha
  10. Boston is always a great city and ballpark to watch the Jays in. Stay at the Sheraton Hotel near the Prudential Centre. That's where the Jays stay. Thinking of maybe driving to Detroit in July if I'm in town. Cleveland also is pretty close and a fun town to spend the weekend. Games in Seattle are always fun. I love Coors Field in Denver. Rockies suck, but that ballpark is one of my favourites. Would be cool to see the Jays play there in September!
  11. I want the Jays to beat up Baltimore this series but for the posters on here who continue to say Baltimore sucks need to stop. They're serious contenders.
  12. I own him in the LOD!
  13. The AA team in 2015 definitely was built better to contend for a World Series. Even the 2016 team as well (Atkins inherited). So far Atkins hasn't built a team that looks like a World Series contender unfortunately. In 2021, Jays miss the Postseason by one game. In 2022, they lose two in a row at home against the Mariners. So far in 2023, looks like the Jays will be fighting for the WC No. 3 seed. Seems like the Maple Leafs. High expectations and hype at the beginning of every season, but disappointment always at the end.
  14. Yeah that would be nice but definitely difficult in the AL East. I thought the Blue Jays had the potential to be a 100 win team but they've underachieved and haven't been consistent enough with this current group. Also nice to bank wins early in April/May so you have some more breathing room later on if you hit rough stretches or lose some key players on the IL for a bit.
  15. When I was using wins, it was more in the meaning of taking this team to the next level. From where the Jays are now, to a World Series contender. The way this team has been playing, they don't look like World Series contenders in comparison to other teams. Yes things can change and if they start playing better and to expectations, then things could look different maybe next month. Yeah I agree a 90-95 win team in the AL East is better than a division winner in the AL or NL Central lets say. Also, yes just get in and anything can happen. We've seen teams get hot at the right time and have everything click in the Postseason. Right now currently, Blue Jays wouldn't be in the Postseason. Still have a little less than 4 months and hopefully with an easier schedule on the horizon, this team can make up some ground. Would rather see them comfortably holding the 1st or 2nd WC seed rather than fighting for the 3rd seed. If this team fails to make the Postseason or fails to make it out of the Wildcard/ALDS, then this team didn't get to the next level.
  16. Once Shapiro is done with his Rogers Centre renovations, he'll look to renovate another ballpark. This guy should have his own show on the HGTV channel.
  17. Billy Beane: "Guys, you're still trying to replace Giambi. I told you we can't do it, and we can't do it. Now, what we might be able to do is re-create him. Re-create him in the aggregate." Need to re-create Chapman in the aggregate. There is no identical 3B like him available and even if there was, good chance the Jays can't afford him.

  19. They don't have to win 100 games literally. I meant it more as taking that next level from a fringe Wild Card contender to becoming a World Series contender/elite team. But yeah in the AL East, 90 wins likely doesn't win the division, therefore it's a tougher path to get through. Now you're going to say some fringe Wild Card contenders have won a World Series before, which is true. Agreed, just get into the Postseason and anything can happen. A little luck and getting hot at the right time. You're satisfied with this team fighting for a Wild Card berth and think that's good enough rather than being an elite dominant team. The issue with the Jays is they haven't taken that next level yet, and its a shame with the pieces they have on this roster. Again your homerism showing as you won't be critical of this front office or question them at all. Rather if this Jays team misses the 2023 Postseason or gets eliminated in the Wildcard rounds the next season or so, isn't that a failure of this FO to take this team to the next level?

  21. Yeah the Jays still have one or two more cracks at it after 2023, even if they fail to make the Postseason this year. It's a shame though they never took full advantage of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, Springer will be older which is the concern. Gausman will be older and will he keep up this elite level of performance or regress a bit? He's at his best now so this is when you want to make a deep run. Bassitt will be older, same with Berrios. Who knows if Romano is still the closer by time 2025 rolls around since relievers can be volatile from year to year but he's been consistent. Jays won't have Chapman in 2024 and 2025, so he's a big piece to replace. Lastly, the Jays don't have a pipeline of talent in the minors waiting in the wings who could step in and make an impact right away. Atkins has done a formidable job with FA signings and trades and keeping this team afloat around 90 wins every season. However in the AL East, they need to take that next step and become a 100 win team, which they haven't done in the last three seasons. Also, with the Rays around and Orioles likely set to improve, the Yankees always spending, 90 wins in the AL East isn't enough.

lol I only put down $10. Nuggets were paying .20 cents I believe, so not worth it. Heat played pretty well most of the game but in the 4th quarter Nuggets pulled away. Wish the cash-out was closer to $25-30 when Miami was up, otherwise would have taken it.
  23. Rutchman and Henderson have been solid thus far and look like they could be studs. Hays and Mullins have been pretty darn good as well. That's 4 of 9 with some more impactful talent waiting in the wings. If the Jays had the Orioles farm system I'm sure you would be salivating over all their prospects and think everyone of them would become impactful bats. But since its the Orioles, meh!
  24. 10-12 game winning streak like I said and trade for Ricardo Rincon.
