  1. Yup, need to replace 4 spots in the everyday lineup. I'm thinking they use Schneider/Biggio at either 2B or 3B. Have to get a masher for LF and 1B/DH. Also, whether it's Atkins or a new GM, I think you have to make a challenge trade by moving someone like Vladdy or Springer if you find a trading partner. Rotation is fine but we can't assume all 4 starters come back and make another 31+ starts again. Would be nice to add another No. 4/5 starter for depth and have Manoah, White, Francis and Tiedemann waiting in the wings when an opening presents itself. Bullpen is fine as well, but relievers are volatile and we can't assume all those arms comes back and pitch at a high level like they did this past season. Would definitely look at retaining Green or Hicks, but regardless I think there is enough depth if anything does go wrong and they could always add at the trade deadline. Focus should definitely be offense and adding two big bats. Hopefully if those bats fill LF and DH, won't take a huge hit on the defensive side of things.
  2. Should open a new poll
  3. Going to the game in Atlanta on Saturday! Pumped to see Strider pitch! The atmosphere should be electric!
  4. We'll see. Hopefully Springer does bounce back and provide some more pop and Kirk also bounces back offensively. I like Kirk behind the plate, and if you get his bat going again, even better! Probably can't trade Springer anyways given his contract and age now. Kirk's trade value is at its lowest. So hope they both bounce back in 2024. I'll give Kirk a mulligan on this season since he's still young. Hope he comes into camp in the best shape of his life next spring!
  5. It really makes you appreciate the 2015 season and the days Gibby was around. The managers Atkins has brought in - Montoyo and Schneider - both seemed like just puppets and didn't have the respect in the clubhouse. Both are beta's.
  6. I was at that disaster last fall haha. Glad the Jays were on the road this year for the WC. Like you, I wasn't planning on paying for tickets to see them in the WC this season if they were playing at home. I thought Game 2 of last years WC was one of the worst managed games, but Schneider pulls it off again a year later in the exact same situation.
  7. The question is who is to blame for implementing that system if there was one? The coaching staff or FO?
  8. How is my argument stupid? Atkins traded away one of his top young assets for Varsho, who s*** the bed offensively. Springer is aging and on the decline. Vladdy wasn't the superstar this organization thought he was. Kirk's 2022 season was a mirage. Chapman despite him being a valuable piece, wasn't a middle-of-the-order bat they thought he was. It looks to me as Atkins and this FO really messed up on their player evaluations when constructing this lineup. Belt was great this season and so was KK. But we really got lucky they performed at the level they did. Could have went the other way with one or both of them.
  9. I knew you were going to pull this out of your hat haha. Tommy Pham would have been a nice addition sure. We can't just go by who was moved at the deadline and assume they were the only bats the Jays could have acquired. I'm sure other bats were available that we don't know of. The window is pretty much closing with this roster. The FO failed this season to capitalize on a strong rotation and bullpen. Sure we have 4 arms back next season, but we can't just assume they all 4 stay all healthy again and pitch at the same high level.
  10. Brownie pretty much has said this numerous times but alright!
  11. The Jays traded 50 HR's in Teo and LBJ. That power could have been useful. Belt had a really solid year but he's just a platoon guy. Let's be realistic. As for all those players underperforming, it was a good number. Shouldn't the FO do a better job at evaluating players? If they're so brilliant as some on here make them out to be, you shouldn't have had so many bats underperform as they did. An aging Springer who is past his prime. Was Vladdy really a superstar? Was Varsho really that great of a bat to trade away Moreno for? Was Chapman really a middle-of-the-order guy? Was Kirk's 2022 season or shall I say two hot months more of a mirage? As well, given the severe underperformance from this lineup, why didn't the FO address this issue earlier like in July or before the deadline? And please don't respond with "which bats were dealt at the deadline?" We don't know who else could have been available who wasn't moved.
  12. Why did the Jays sign Berrios to a $130M extension? Just to pitch 3 innings in a Postseason game? I agree, the outcome wasn't as bad as it was. Still just down 2-0 and had opportunities to tie the game or take the lead. Regardless, we're only in the 4th inning with a runner on first base in a 0-0 game. It's not like this was the 6th or 7th inning or heck wasn't like Berrios was laboring till that point in the game. Analytics have their place, but sometimes overthinking and overmanaging is a bit too much. Common sense has to come into play. As well, someone made a comment about the team morale after. You had Merrifield post game calling out that decision, supposedly Pete Walker was furious and I'm sure other players as well. There is a human element to this game. Players and pitchers aren't all robots and computers. Berrios didn't do anything to warrant him being pulled in the 4th inning.
  13. Aside from Bo's defense, he's been really the only bat who has performed offensively at a high level when healthy. Springer, Vladdy, Kirk, Chapman, Varsho were all disappointments this season.
  14. That would have turned out nice. Great suggestion. We won't ever know what other trade possibilities were out there for either Kirk or Moreno.
  15. Spanky does.
  16. Phillies actually aren't bad of a team this season. They could give the Braves some trouble.
  17. Got my NL predictions right. Had the Jays and Rays moving on in the AL in my bracket.
  18. Jays definitely overpaid for a .700 OPS CF bat. Could have just signed KK again instead of trading LGJ and Moreno for Varsho!
  19. I've heard different from people I know but alright!
  20. He has a say in the roster obviously. If you think otherwise, you're clueless!
  21. I really hope this was the last game we saw that bozo manage a game.
  22. Pitching was fantastic over these two games and all season long. Lineup was embarrassing this series FFS! Major changes need to be made from the top down this offseason. Something is fundamentally wrong with this group and its been that way all season.
  23. I thought this organization and FO were brilliant minds though and that we shouldn't question them? That's what I was told by a poster on this board.
  24. There is nothing wrong with analytics, but common sense has to come in when your No. 2 starter is dealing and who has looked his best all year! You didn't sign Berrios to a $130M extension in order to just pitch 3 innings in the Postseason FFS! Pulling Berrios didn't cost the Jays the game. They still scored zero runs. But at the time of the decision, the Twins scored 2 runs. Regardless, a BS call by Atkins and this FO.
