  1. I would rather see him join the Jays and help the team win a World Series or two.
  2. If the Jays win a World Series during the time Ohtani is here, couldn't care if he pumped out a negative WAR season at the age of 39.
  3. Yeah obviously myself as well, but we both know a huge contract like that comes with risk. If the Jays don't win a World Series with him here or come close, likely looking back at that contract down the road as an albatross.
  4. I definitely would have mixed reactions. Would be super excited to see the Jays landing one of the biggest FA's in the history of all sports. At the same time, the type of figures and years thrown around for a player who is going to be 30 + and who might only be strictly regulated to a DH role and not be an elite pitcher anymore is a bit concerning long term. Pretty much, you have to hope Ohtani hits like Barry Bonds for the next decade to justify the contract if he is strictly a DH. Not sure how many years you can get from him pitching at an elite level, but I doubt he makes over 25 starts again in a single season. I said this before, but would save him as a pitcher only in the second half and for the Postseason. No need for him to make starts in April. Jays have the luxury and depth to do that. At the end of the day, not my money and as a fan would love to see Ohtani here. Obviously understand the risks involved in a long term deal like this. Gotta hope the Jays take advantage in the early years of his contract in terms of going on a serious run for a World Series. Flags fly forever and if Ohtani helped bring a World Series to Toronto in the next 2-3 seasons, doubt we care what happens from 2030 on with the Jays.
  5. They definitely did wonders on Vladdy, Kirk and Manoah!
  6. Had some Wagyu beef tonight! Was pretty darn delicious!
  7. Trade for both Machado and Soto!
  8. Yeah people who think he could live more freely in Toronto vs. LA, give me a break.
  9. Fedde signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
  10. Someone should make a Josh Donaldson thread!
  11. That's what she said.
  12. Lmao at the posters on here thinking what Dave Roberts said eliminates the Dodgers. Seriously be rational!
  13. Jays are 13 to 1. They likely go down to 9 to 1 if they land Ohtani. Braves and Dodgers both 7.50 to 1 currently.
  14. Not worth betting any team right now on who wins the World Series. Your money is tied up all the way until October next season.
  15. My DDL and BORED teams benefit!
  16. This bolds well for my team in the LOD.
  17. As much as it would be cool to see the Jays go all in with both Ohtani and Soto, that unlikely is going to happen. Think only one of them is possible. Seems like the Jays will know which path they take once Ohtani makes a decision. If Ohtani signs with another team, Jays likely pull off a trade with the Padres hours later for Soto.
  18. Going to a Christmas Party tomorrow night at a Japanese steak house with Teppanyaki tables. Could be a sign.
  19. Ross Atkins is in a Japanese Izakaya right now doing sake shots with Ohtani and his reps!
  20. LMAO this is hilarious!
  21. Kelenic actually showed some promise in the early part of the season. Kelenic is still just 24-years-old and has great tools and upside. Rather than trotting out a low upside guy like Rosario in LF, at least Kelenic has some potential. Braves can afford to roll the dice on him since he'll likely be hitting in the lower part of the lineup anyways, so no pressure. If the Braves could fix him, could be a steal. Worst case, his floor is likely a 1.5 - 2 WAR corner outfielder. Marco Gonzales is meh and nothing sexy. But he can provide innings and rotation depth. Sucks taking on his contract but it's only $7.5M for one year. Evan White was really highly touted coming up. Mariners locked him up to an extension of 6 years, $24M with two club options back in 2020 haha. Maybe a change of scenery and the Braves could help him.
  22. Give me other examples Spanky! Lets go! Put your money where your mouth is!
  23. Again, give me other examples during his tenure with Atlanta where he hasn't managed the 40 man roster well? I provided reasons why the Braves made those trades. At the end of the day, guys like Soroka, Wright, Lopez etc. aren't making a difference on a team like the Atlanta Braves and the objective of the trade was to clear space on the 40-man roster. Secondly, their value didn't drop drastically from last offseason to this offseason. They were going to be non-tendered if they weren't traded and the other 29 teams knew that. Give it a rest.
