  1. Gallo signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Nationals on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
  2. Would be disappointing if the Jays don't land one of Soler or JDM now. Pederson at under $10M would have been really nice. Could have easily beat that offer if they wanted to.
  3. At least with Bauer, he has #1-2 starter upside and displayed he could pitch at that level in the past. German would be an erratic #4-5 starter.
  4. It's all politics when it comes to certain players. No doubt Sheff should have been in. Shocked to see Mauer get in on the first ballot. He put up some really fantastic seasons with Minnesota but he also didn't have the longevity as some other players, which would be mine concern. Deserves to be in Cooperstown, but not on the first ballot IMO. Hope Russell Martin could get in, but I'm sure he'll have to wait a decade. Beltre should have been 100% voted in. One of the best overall third basemen we have seen in the game overall.
  5. Wagner, Jone and Beltran should definitely get in next season.
  6. Back when he signed that Mariners deal, were they using WAR? He also came off like a 48 HR season with the Dodgers, so yeah never came even close to those numbers with the Mariners. Those were probably the expectations of fans and the sports media. A lot of emphasis was still placed on traditional offensive statistics like BA, HR and RBI totals across baseball amongst writers and in the sports media. As well, don't think much emphasis was placed on defensive abilities as it is today when it comes to contracts and determining how really valuable a player is.
  7. Meh, most late inning relievers were getting between $10-12M AAV per season. Chapman can still be electric and a huge weapon out of the pen. $10.5M for one-year is a great deal IMO. Pirates likely will use him as trade bait at the deadline. If he has another strong season, teams will be calling to add a big arm like Chapman to the pen.

Likely a shakeup is coming in the next couple of weeks. This Bills teams despite its talent has kind of underachieved over the last several seasons, especially in the Playoffs. They couldn't even beat a Kansas City team that looked bad and vulnerable this season at home! Team played really sloppy earlier this season and most of last season. I couldn't care if they keep or get rid of McDermott. If they went a different direction in regards to their head coach, wouldn't be opposed to it.

Bills need to hire Bill Belichick or Mike Vrabel.

Glad I didn't. Got $600 CAD in my pocket at least.
  11. If you could only keep one - Garcia or Richards?

I liked the Bertuzzi and Domi signings at the time. Thought they added toughness and guys who could be 50-60 pt players. So far both have been huge disappointments though. The team always needed goaltending and instead have never addressed that issue. Sucks Woll got injured, and Samsonov s*** the bed. Jones really was their No. 3 goalie, but yeah he ain't carrying this team on a deep Playoff run. Like how he locked up guys like Matthews and Nylander. The Leafs need to do something soon with their core players in their prime or else will be a wasted opportunity. Tavares should come off the books soon, so that will free up some cap space.
  14. John Brebbia signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the White Sox on Saturday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. Nice pickup for $5.5M.
  15. Trevor Richards was pretty darn good before he got injured. After he came back, just wasn't the same. 13 K/9 and 105 K's in 72.2 IP last season. If he could be more consistent and if used in the right spots, he's definitely a weapon in that bullpen. Only $2.2M salary in 2024.
  16. You only buy from the LCDH stores which are government stores in Cuba (similar to the LCBO here in Ontario for alcohol sales). Hotels, people on the beaches, or non-government shops definitely sell fakes. Same in the Dominican. Never buy Cuban cigars in the Dominican.
  17. Yeah you would hope and it most likely needs to happen if this team wants to take that next step forward. Would be a huge disappointment if this team doesn't add a power bat like Soler or Hoskins or JDM because they don't have the salary space available, when they went out and signed IKF to $7.5M, picked up the options on Green at $10.5M and signed Rodriguez who likely pans out as a No.4/5 starter or solid BP arm at $8M. I have no issues with those signings and picking up Green's option, but this team needed to address the lack of power in this lineup and would be a shame if there isn't anymore room left in the payroll to sign a big bat like Soler or someone. Still time left in the offseason and overall has been a very slow offseason in terms of FA signings. Will reserve judgement until ST starts.
  18. I love Freddy Peralta. Huge K rates and still only 27. He will turn out a Cy Young season soon IMO.

Packers put up a great fight. Those two missed FG's though really hurt though. The Pack definitely have a very bright future with Love. Bet the 49ers when they were down at 1.95 odds and then at 2.25 odds and also bet the under at 46.5, so was successful at least.
  20. Would be nice if we had a phone app designated for the BJMB
  21. Count me in. Will be fun to have a couple of beers and do a draft. Can't do that in dynasty leagues anymore haha.
  22. I wouldn't say he has "zero trade value" right now, but yeah it's definitely at an all-time low. Definitely not opposed to keeping him and hoping he bounces back especially if there aren't any good deals out there! If he doesn't show any improvement in 2024, then his trade value is likely zero.
  23. Speaking of veteran elite relievers, Liam Hendriks is a FA. What are the chances he returns back into top form? Is he worth rolling the dice on? E.g. two year deal or similar type of contract the Jays gave Green last offseason?
  24. Yeah same here obviously. I don't think the extension is really a "bargain" though. If Green was a FA, I think he still gets around $10-12M per season over two years (so between $20-24M), which seems like the market value for late inning relievers. Given his age, and injury history, not sure a team would go more than 2 years but who knows.
  25. Difference is Stephenson was healthy for a majority of last season pitching 52.1 innings with a 13.24 K/9 and 0.9 WAR. He really was one of the top relievers in baseball after he was traded to the Rays. Green only pitched 12 innings at the big league level last season. So now it's like Green is getting 2 years at $21M with the options kicking in. Not sure he would have got more AAV or years on the free agent market given his age and him coming back from injury. Think he's being paid at fair market value and wouldn't really consider him a huge "bargain." More upside with Green given he had better seasons when he was with the Yankees, but it's not a guarantee he returns to be 1.5 - 2 WAR reliever. Agree, wouldn't feel comfortable giving Stephenson $33M over 3 years given his age and spotty track record. Seems like every late-inning reliever now is getting $10-12M AAV.
