  1. Baseball just got a lot better!
  2. He's one of the most insufferable posters on this board. You're not allowed to criticize Atkins or this front office and have any baseball discussion on things the Blue Jays could have done or could do according to Brownie. Atkins and the front office know everything and ought not to be questioned!
  3. I don't think Vlad deserves that kind of money and commitment right now from the Blue Jays. Let's see how he finishes this season and how he does next season. I'm not sure if we'll ever see another 5-6 WAR season from Vladdy and if we do maybe its only once. It's possible but its very unlikely. I would rather roll the dice on Soto or Tucker or Bregman if we're talking about 30M AAV + per season. Vladdy 2022 season and 3-4 WAR is most likely his ceiling. He can easily be replaced. You don't want to lock up that type of player to a 7 or 8 year deal. He's 25 now, but in 2026 when it's the first year of his new deal, he'll be 27.
  4. Sucks for baseball.
  5. Maybe he needs a change of scenery. Wonder what the Rays would ask for him...
  6. I also guarantee you that if Atkins acquired Joey Bart, Brownie would be saying how it was such a brilliant move and how Atkins and the FO saw something in him and developed a former top prospect to reach his full potential etc.
  7. Where am I complaining exactly? Did I even mention the Blue Jays in my post? I was responding to Connors post. He mentioned Jo Addell and I said that Joey Bart, who also was a top prospect coming up but who has never lived up to the hype, has put up great numbers as well to start this season. Both have been good stories in the early part of 2024.
  8. Where did I blame the Blue Jays for not acquiring Joey Bart? Stop putting words into my mouth and twisting things around.
  9. Yeah regression is coming for sure, but at least he'll provide power and is a huge upgrade over Turner/Vogelbach. Definitely ride his hot bat as much as they can. If he could put up Rhys Hoskins numbers up offensively over a full season, I'll take that in a heartbeat.
  10. Jansen (182 wRC+, 1.4 fWAR) and Schneider (130 wRC+, 1.0 fWAR) need to be in the lineup everyday, no excuses. To get Jansen's bat in the lineup everyday, would reduce his workload behind the plate where he maybe starts once or twice max per week. Would rather have Kirk in the lineup and behind the plate with Jansen DHing instead of having Turner/Vogelbach at DH. Vladdy looks like he's coming around (133 wRC+) and I expect Bo to turn things around as well. Varsho has been a stud so far (1.7 fWAR). IKF surprisingly has been decent and has held his own. This team needs another bat or two with pop who they could plug into the two corner OF spots. Again, this was the issue heading into the offseason and it could have easily been addressed with a flooded market of corner OF's available. Now the Jays need to go the trade route. KK needs to be regulated to a 4th outfielder role where he plays occasionally in CF and is used as a defensive replacement late in games. Only want him getting around 300 AB's and nothing more. Springer needs to be moved down to the bottom of the order (7 to 9 spots) and gotta hope he could start hitting soon. If not, bench him or do a phantom IL stint. I would DFA Turner at some point if he keeps hitting the way he is. Regardless, he should be on the bench and Jano should be getting majority of AB's from the DH spot.
  11. Yeah Springer's bat needs to get going, so unfortunately you have to play him, but hopefully moving forward he's near the bottom of the order until he shows some life with the bat.
  12. I would reduce Jano's workload behind the plate to once or twice a week if it meant that the Jays could get his bat in the lineup everyday, more as a DH. His bat needs to be in the lineup everyday given this teams offensive struggles. I know that means Kirk would be starting behind the plate more, but defensively Kirk has been rock solid and has been valuable even with a noodle bat (0.7 fWAR in 29 games). Turner (-0.3 fWAR) and Vogelbach (-0.2fWAR) are hurting this lineup and team more when they're DHing.
  13. You were pretty much absent before they exploded against the White Sox.
  14. Heck look at the numbers Joey Bart has put up with the Pirates in limited time. Could have been had for nothing as well at the end of ST. 4 HR, 12 RBI and a .267/.362/.517 slashline with a 149 wRC+ and 0.6 fWAR in 21 games.
  15. Just said they could have used a bat like him. As well, definitely a nice comeback season from Stanton if he stays healthy. He looked toast last season. Also, there was discussion on this board about him being the next bat to reach 500+ HR's. He probably accomplishes that feat in 2026 if he stays on the field and would be 36 that season. 600 could still be in reach but he needs to average 30-40 HR's over the next 6 to 7 seasons.
  16. Stanton with 13 HR's, 29 RBI, 0.6 WAR and a .246/.295/.520 slash line thus far in 46 games. Looks like he could have a 30-40 HR season if he stays on the field. Jays could definitely use a power bat like his.
  17. Yeah given where this team is now in the season, a split isn't good enough. They need to come away with 3 of 4. If they were 5 games over .500, different story. They need to climb out of this hole and they have to dominate these teams like the Tigers.
  18. I thought the Blue Jays haven't just been beating these teams, but dominating them and looking like a powerhouse. I guess that was short lived haha. Hopefully they can take the next two in Detroit which would be nice.
  19. Kikuchi definitely the best chip agreed. Sucks to trade him but he's unlikely to re-sign here anyways in the offseason being a Boras client. If the Jays are hovering around .500 still, I would trade him for a big return. Heck could still add a veteran back-end starter at the deadline likely on the cheap if they want to make a small push at that last WC spot anyways. Would suck to trade Jano. Would be nice if Jays could sign him to an extension, but understand if he's healthy he'll be a hot commodity to a team that needs catching. Yimi will be a good chip, but like you said just a reliever rental. Might be tough trade Bo or Vlad in season, but a team that trades for them now essentially gets two Postseason runs with them.
  20. Cowser robbed Tommy Pham of a HR to end the game from the White Sox haha. Damn those Orioles getting some lucky breaks two nights in a row.
  21. Did anyone go down to Comerica this weekend?
  22. AL West doesn't look that good at all. As long as the Astros rotation stays healthy, I think they should be fine. Back end of the bullpen has settled in nicely now as well. They're not a 10-20 team like they showed over the first month.
  23. Every team has pretty much dominated the White Sox this season or even the Tigers lol. Calm down.
