  1. Is this going to be the first incentive based deal to include passed balls?
  2. I really can't fathom why anyone would take Verlander over Kershaw.
  3. Jamey Carroll.
  4. I don't have any favorite NL teams but I have a lot of respect for the Cardinals organization (their fans; not so much).
  5. I'm not saying throw him away or anything. Obviously I would be thrilled if he puts up the line you just suggested, but I don't see that as likely (at least not something we can comfortably expect). I think we should take the deal if a team is willing to pay an asset based on the line he put up last year. It's simply selling high.
  6. That's what I'm saying. It's Adam Lind. The same guy everyone chanted DFA for over the three years prior to last. Yearly wOBAs: 2010 - .309 2011 - .316 2012 - .316 I think this is the perfect time to sell high on him if someone is willing to offer any kind of asset. Given his salary, even if he did repeat last year's numbers, that's just breaking even/very slight profit value wise. He's honestly like Garrett Jones 2.0 I don't even know why the Pirates want him.
  7. Didn't he throw 110 last year? It's a good point though, about the low yearly inning totals. However, he's still thrown 277 innings in his minor league career against 177 at bats for Austin Meadows. It's not like Austin Meadows was hyped up as the next Bryce Harper. He has a lot of tools but he's still an 18 year old who's far away and a lot could happen. That being said, he would certainly be in our top 2. Whether he's #1 or #2, I just don't think there's a significant gap between the two of them.
  8. I think a lot of people would take Sanchez over Meadows right now. Sanchez should debut in 2015. Meadows is 3-4 years away.
  9. Would you do it for Tyler Glasnow?
  10. Yeah, you're right though. There's no way the Pirates would part with any of Hanson/Polanco/Meadows for Adam Lind.
  11. People suggesting we shouldn't trade Lind if the Pirates would part with one of their top 5 prospects, will be the first to complain that we should have sold high on him come June.
  12. Remember when we all extrapolated Lawrie's 2.5 WAR in 2011 to 10.0 WAR 2012.
  13. Wow I thought Salty was a lock for 3/30. Not a bad deal at all for the Marlins.
  14. By the way I love that quote in your signature.
  15. Even if they would trade Meadows for Lind (which I don't think they would), Meadows can't be moved til June 2014 right?
  16. I wouldn't be shocked if I have a higher WAR than Jemile Weeks next season.
  17. That's a good point that I didn't even think of. They could flip him at the deadline and actually come out with a decent prospect (well, certainly something better than Weeks). The fans might bitch a little if Johnson is doing good, but it's a great way to make profit out of nothing.
  18. I don't think it's parting with Weeks that's odd. I think the bigger surprise is that a team with generally low payroll flexibility is willing to dish out the $$$ for Johnson. Especially since they have a solid in-house option like Sean Doolittle. As far as value goes, I definitely agree that Oakland came out better in this trade. Jemile Weeks isn't a good baseball player (the same could be said for his brother these days).
  19. Classifying the definition of an "ace" is a stupid argument in general. I was just curious because I thought he was implying that Fister isn't a top 30 arm. Now I know that by ace, he meant a top 10-15 pitcher (and I agree that he isn't in that range). Case closed.
  20. Lol apparently the 30th best pitcher in baseball is "s***". You're an idiot.
  21. By definition of the term you are using, you're saying you don't consider Fister a top 30 pitcher for next year. Do you or do you not consider him a top 30 pitcher?
  22. Technically, yes. There are 30 #1 starters in baseball. I know what you mean though, "ace ace" as in an elite #1 option. And no, Fister isn't one of those. He's obviously not on the same level as the list you presented, but will definitely be a reliable source for great production going into next season.
  23. Not necessarily. Like dinger said, it could have been a poor shop job by Detroit. I for one haven't heard a single Fister rumor all off-season.
