  1. I have the luxury (well, not really -- more of a burden) of having a terrible 20th keeper. I'm still trying to see if there's one more pitcher I can add via prospect. I really don't want to have to keep Ryan Dempster.
  2. Wow I would have traded for a top 5 pick had I known a stud like Todd Redmond would be available in the waiver draft.
  3. Boxy you don't have to inform us about name changes. We'll just look for the team with the '20.' next to their name.
  4. 3 and 4 are cut by default since yahoo limits you to 20 characters. That should make your decision a bit easier.
  5. ^ This. Silver that was awesome. PLEASE do it for each one.
  6. Lmao if you can say the B-A-B-I-P fast enough, that works perfectly.
  7. I'm estimating that we need 90 wins to make the playoffs next year. We finished with 74 wins in 2013. We can talk about certain players outperforming their 2013 all we want, but it's a simple question. Are we 14 wins better than we were last season? The obvious answer is no. With the current roster, playoffs aren't realistic.
  8. Yeah we can definitely expect more from Morrow than we got last year. I'm just saying that before last year, we we're expecting more from 2013 than we are currently expecting from 2014. That was confusing to type.
  9. It's true that we're not that much different, but our confidence in the current assets is what's changed. The upside in certain pitchers is gone. Dickey -- Was coming off a phenomenal year. Now he's coming off a year where we saw his velocity drop and witnessed him getting rocked at the Rogers Center. He's still a safe bet for 200+ innings though. Morrow -- Was coming off his third straight quality season where he lowered his BB/9 to below 3. Now, he's coming off injury and his strikeout rate declined for the 3rd straight year. Buehrle -- What we expected. Nothing has changed here. Johnson -- We were expecting another #1/#2 in the rotation. He s*** the bed. This year we currently have no replacement. Romero -- Most of us expected he was done, but there was still that small possibility for a comeback. Now, the fat lady has sung. As for the lineup, it's pretty much the same. We're expecting less from Cabrera than we did a year ago, but that's offset by expecting more from Rasmus. All in all, the rotation is what makes me much more pessimistic going into this season than last.
  10. I think I saw the stat BABIP used 5000+ times in regards to Aaron Hill throughout the 2010 season.
  11. A weak 2B can be compensated for if you have no other black holes on the team. Last year, we believed we had one of the top rotations in the league with 7 average to above average hitters in the lineup. This year, as of right now, we clearly have serious holes in the rotation. We can't afford to get nothing (or less than nothing) out of 2B.
  12. Who would say they plan on rebuilding next year? I'm not necessarily talking about a complete fire-sale; just someone who would be willing to move some older guys in exchange for prospects/picks. This would help with targeting the right owners in regards to trade compatibility.
  13. It's true that he will likely stick, but it becomes irrelevant if you're only getting replacement level production from him each year. In that case, you would be better off not using a keeper spot, and going with the top waiver catcher available each year. However, we're in a 20 team league, so even a very mediocre line (something that wouldn't even be looked at in 12-14 team leagues) could still have value. It honestly all depends on what kind of catching is available in waivers. Ultimately I wouldn't slot him top 100, but I would keep him in the top 150.
  14. I hate you for making me read this disturbing sentence.
  15. Wow you have some nice depth man.. and I'm not just saying that because you have the stud that is Zach Lee.
  16. Time to capitalize on these rankings... SELLING JOSH BELL AKA YOUR #74 PROSPECT IN THE ENTIRE MLB.
  17. 45 - Austin Meadows, OF (PIT) 48 - Clint Frazier, OF (CLE)
  18. Castellanos = 15 Crick = 32 Fried = 43 Bell = 74 (I knew a jump was coming, but this was unexpected) Every pick I made in the June draft whiffed completely. None in the top 100.
  19. Honestly I'm surprised it took this long for someone to go after Hill. He should produce top 10 2B numbers and it didn't seem like Boxy was going to be stingy with him. If I didn't have Kinsler I would have been all over him. I also like both sides of the trade, but give the edge to Sammy. I think Hill could have pulled a top 50 prospect back (speculation, I don't know who else had 2B interest). I'd rather have the #5 and an already cemented top 50 guy than Rodon.
  20. BALCO Pharm Team Trade Block: Mike Trout Miguel Cabrera Robinson Cano Joey Votto Andrew McCutchen Carlos Gonzalez Troy Tulowitzki Chris Davis Paul Goldschmidt Clayton Kershaw Stephen Strasburg Jose Fernandez [insert 400 players]
  21. It's only a matter of time before NorthOf49 shops players to me that are already on my roster. "I might be acquiring Mike Trout from you. If I do, what would you offer for him?"
  22. Wait, I've been informed Kevin Gray just broke a rumor that Dinger is moving Jose Fernandez for a package based around Zach Lee.
  23. We need some insiders in this league like Law/Rosenthal/Morosi that can break trade rumors.
