I was actually losing 12-1 at one point this afternoon (around 3:00) and somehow I finished 6-6. Mike Napoli single handedly turned a 9-4 into a 6-6 after SNB.
I'm also curious to see how everyone shrinks their farms down going into next year's MiLB draft. There are 9 guys I want to keep and 3 I'll just throw away. I had 5 picks that were all reasonably high, so I'm trying to sell off a few. I don't want to have to force promotions and waste valuable big league roster spots if my guys are still far away. It's tricky.
Imagine having Barry Bonds on your fantasy team in 2001?
.328/.515/.833 and 129/73/137/13
Any Bonds owner who didn't make the playoffs that year should have been banned from fantasy baseball forever.
Yep. I'm convinced he would have been an easy HOF vote without steroids. I get frustrated when people completely write him off as a hitter because of the roids.
Can Lyle Overbay f*** off? I'm thinking Mark Reynolds at Yankee Stadium will be at least replacement level for third base. That's if he actually gets playing time.
I'm still looking to move some holds for a pick upgrade. If someone has a high second that they would move for a low second + 15-20 hold reliever, I would be interested.
I get so paranoid about that when I see a pitcher in the free agents that says he debuted in 2013. I'm honestly surprised I haven't accidentally added someone else's property yet.
If you need holds, I'm interested in doing a pick upgrade. One of my picks + a reliever for a better pick. Same type of deal would go for prospects.
Scott Downs, Sam LeCure, Darren O'Day, and Luis Avilan are all available and have 15+ holds.
Yeah I just thought about this and agree that it's a pretty massive blow. Fernandez probably gets shutdown and provides nothing in the playoffs. So this year it's basically subtracting Zimmerman and Lester for nothing in crunch time.
That's a steep price for Fernandez but considering you have Cabrera at 3B it makes sense. It's hard not to pull the trigger on a 20 year old in a dynasty league who has put up 2.5 fWAR through 20 starts.
I'm almost at the point where I'm thinking I should totally revamp my strategy and punt holds instead of saves. If Gregg is traded out of Chicago, I would have three closers in Perez/Melancon/Strop.
So who knows, I might even be looking to add a closer in the near future.
Yeah. Even though it may technically increase his value, it does jack s*** for my current team. Hopefully someone is looking for a closer at the deadline.
My team has gone from an elite Holds juggernaut to average in one week. I lost my best guy in Melancon, and now Downs is traded to Atlanta which cannibalizes both Avilan and his value.
Just throwing this out there. One thing that probably gets overlooked in a lot of defensive metrics is the threat of a strong arm in the outfield. It would prevent a lot of runners from going 2nd to 3rd, or 3rd to home.
