  1. I don't remember them skipping #5 starters at the beginning of the season. Could be wrong though.
  2. That's a good point and I think it would make a lot of sense/please most people if they went: Dickey Stroman Buehrle Hutch #5 Then you still give Dickey the opening day start but giving Stroman the home opener shows a lot of confidence in him as well. It's a win-win situation IMO since you still break up the soft tossers.
  3. Wtf that's it? I thought it was longer.
  4. It's going to be the same bull it is every year. Some controversial questions, none of which have a controversial answer.
  5. It's really odd. Sometimes things just don't work out, but at 4/60 it looks like plenty of teams should be in on that. You have to wonder if there's some red flags that we don't know about.
  6. It should and likely will be Dickey. This isn't a video game. Stroman is still green and hasn't completely proven that he's much better than Dickey.
  7. Yeah I remember him being a jerk for some things, but on a minor league deal? He's still young.
  8. Brewers sign Chris Perez. That would have been a nice minor league signing. IIRC he has makeup issues though.
  9. Clearly the team thinks they are signing the right player whenever they go longer than 5 years. If the Jays did, they would think so too. If anything, maybe it's a statement from ownership telling them they won't go longer than 5 years, so things could change from their perspective and it's not necessarily AA/Beeston making the call. AA seemed really behind it, but he could also be a puppet.
  10. They did say this, so it's not even a real policy. Teams don't give out contracts longer than 5 years unless it's "for the right player" to begin with, so why they even brought it up is confusing. It makes them look awful if anything.
  11. ^^ Agree they should be actively pursuing Shields.
  12. Yeah but (knock on wood) their rotation seems to be a little more durable. Hopefully it doesn't come down to giving one of those guys the 15-20 starts that Reyes/Laffey got in 2011-2012.
  13. Yeah, but depth on offence is definitely a concern. Smoak is probably a downgrade from Lind, Pompey from Rasmus and 2B still sucks. Saunders is arguably an offensive downgrade from Melky. They added Donaldson and Martin, making them more top heavy. As for SP, they have some guys who can step in and might be serviceable, so probably on par with most teams. They are however better than the days of Jo Jo Reyes and Aaron Laffey giving games away, at least I hope.
  14. Agree. Both on offence and pitching any major injuries and they are toast.
  15. The report is he's looking for 5-5.75 which is probably too much considering the Phaneuf contract. You'll be paying upwards to 13 million for your top 2 defencemen who aren't even 1 & 2 guys. Frustrating team.
  16. Hopefully they trade Franson, his value seems pretty high right now, but can anyone get behind giving him the contract he's looking for? That would be a terrible mistake IMO.
  17. I was always thinking Lester/Scherzer would have been a better signing but now that they are gone, and Shields still hasn't signed they have no excuse not to pursue him. Shields/Dickey/Buerhle gives you awesome stability, if the front office doesn't allow a slightly back-loaded Shields contract they are f***ing clueless. I think AA realizes this but really he is just a puppet unfortunately. At least JPR was controversial and spoke his mind, I like AA but he tries too hard to keep his "good boy" image.
  18. Exactly. A+ post.
  19. I supported the deal although I thought Dickey would be a bit more successful. They were and still are in win now mode and he had an inexpensive contract.
  20. Part of that memorable run for the Italian team. You know, the team Canada couldn't beat?
  21. Great numbers in the ITALIAN and MEXICAN leagues... ok?
  22. Minor league deal is ok. But please do not give him a bullpen spot. Time to cut ties.
  23. As a pro wrestling fan, I have done DDP Yoga occasionally but a close friend of mine has lost a lot of weight off of it. It's yoga but if you like wrestling then it is pretty fun/cool, after all yoga is supposed to be relaxing and helping your mind vs just an all out intense workout.
  24. I do not remember what I even said/meant that was years ago when there was a conversation about gays on the old message baord
