  1. This has been the worst off season in recent memory for me. I don't care what moves have been made or not made, I'm happy we avoided EE and I'd like to say good bye to JB if we get a pick as well. It's frustrating because so many fans want instant gratification by big name spending when Toronto is in a poor position to do so. What's your depth for an injury to Martin, or Tulo, or JD? It doesn't exist. We don't have starting pitching depth or 'pen depth of arms that aren't question marks because all the depth we did have was traded away between the Marlins, Dickey, Price and Tulo trades. Regardless of spending the money on a piece like Fowler or something else this team was an injury or two away from not contending regardless. It's not normal you only use 5-6 starting pitchers or don't lose strong position players for short term injuries. A retool, if not a rebuild, is coming and people really do need to realize that.
  2. A quote like what I just did with yours is much easier to read and makes for less scrolling.
  3. I don't mind people doing long posts, it's the people that quote the full post that need to be slapped. Either way I'm excited for the Tellez train.
  4. The implication was on re being done as an elite bat.
  5. I honestly don't understand why people are reacting like losing EE is the end of the world. Bad body sluggers like EE have failed many, many times when they hit their mid 30s. Take Pujols as a recent example. He could be productive for the next 3-4 years but odds are he's done being an elite bat.
  6. Sorry if there was any confusion Spanky, I honestly don't expect the Mets to give Bruce away. My use of just eating his salary would be the only way I could really stomach Toronto acquiring Bruce.
  7. If you could get Bruce for quite literally just eating his salary for a season he'd make an OK platoon piece in LF with Upton. That ~120 wRC+ against RHP would be a nice add to the middle of our lineup. I think if you do this you need to add someone like Fowler to the team though so that you're one lengthening the lineup, two adding stability to the daily lineup and three creating depth in case Bruce or Pillar gets injured and you need to run Pompey everyday.
  8. You could also do it in one post.
  9. Because people are stupid and tend to look in the short term.
  10. You're likely paying Pagan to be an everyday player, not a platoon piece. I'd be fine with Pagan on a one year deal to man LF. I just don't see him being more than a one win player for much longer when his base running starts declining like his defense has and if that bat starts slipping at all, since he's basically league average, you can lose a lot more value really quickly.
  11. The RTTS and fantasy draft franchises are fun in short bursts. For a more realistic front office type thing OOTP is a lot better.
  12. It's a shame the Jays reddit page is as popular as it is now. Two years ago you had some really good posters and good discussion. Now you have that life long NHL fan with no grasp of any sport (including hockey) who just rants and rambles about Rogers being cheap and that it doesn't matter about long term contract commitments because there's a soft salary cap. Too answer your question though I assume he just does C.
  13. I was at first annoyed by this but I'd take S.Rod honestly. 112 wRC+ career against lefties and passable D at 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF while being poor at SS and CF. If S.Rod replaces Goins on the 25 man roster that's addition by subtraction itself. The idea of being able to platoon Rodriguez and Smoak and then move Rodriguez somewhere like LF/RF to cover D late in the game isn't a super unappealing option. It would depend on cost and term but 2/10 I'd say it's an ok move.
  14. Had 1.1 fWAR in ~110 IP in 2015 with ERA, FIP and xFIP below 4 and 8k/9. Seems to be a 79-80mph with the breaking stuff and his cutter is around 87-88.
  15. In a platoon with Upton he wouldn't be a horrible piece depending on acquisition cost. Has had some strong seasons vs RHP and is basically Pillar vs LHP.
  16. My home town and I knew some weird folks when I lived there.
  17. Could end up just being a million dollar arm with a ten cent head. Thankfully he's only 21.5/years old so he has time to figure stuff out.
  18. I'd almost prefer a white Jersey with the red logo and a red/white cap if thats what they want to do. Disliked this years version of the red jersey.
  19. Since he debuted in 2013, with players with as many PA as Goins has, he has the worst wRC+ in baseball. That should say it all.
  20. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Firestone
  21. I'd find it super entertaining of the Blue Jays players just did a media blackout for non-Rogers (Sportsnet and website) staff. Would be hilarious to watch the butt hurt exist.
  22. Smoak's a really big guy, I randomly bumped into him when I was in Toronto for work. Of people I would not want to f*** with on the Jays Smoak's near the top of that list.
  23. Brutal, you almost wonder if shutting him down is for the best at this point.
  24. Not even Orioles fans deserve that. He might fit in on Reddit though, where the average poster seems to have been hit by an ice pick a few dozen times.
  25. Had that 40, 40, 40 season last year and hit 40 hrs again this year. Is also showing strong K:BB rates and is supposedly playing good D at 1B. I'd take a flyer on Thames on a MLB deal.
