  1. Add another baseball to the pile of dead bodies. Damn
  2. Hello? 9-1-1? Yeah, make that a double homicide.
  3. Someone call the cops, I need to report a murdered baseball at the RC.
  4. ugg. no Moreno or Biggio(i mean lefty... but still)... and we see Tapia instead. at least he's hitting 9th...
  5. Uh oh. Jim, how can you live with this absolutely sick burn?
  6. Well i guess it is closer than I made it out, but I like HRs and bigger bats in the all star game, not speedy slashers and defense. For me the AS game isnt about celebrating who has the biggest fWAR, it's who makes the biggest noise with the bats. Jazz brings the Thunder, Erdman moreso the lightning. Both are defensible picks at the end of the day i suppose.
  7. Most of Espinals value is defensive versatility. Love the player but he'd not exciting enough for an All Star Selection. He's the perfect player for the Jays though. He doesnt have the stats that will get him paid in arbitration and will still be worth 4+ WAR every year assuming he keeps his current skillset, which isnt much of a stretch. He's Ben Zobrist lite.
  8. Not over Chisolm at 2b, it's not even really close.
  9. Assuming Votto even allows a trade here, it would lessen the cost to get Castillo. There's nothing the Reds want more than to get rid of Votto's money. Im not necessarily in favor of such a move though, while still a good eye at the plate he doesnt add much to the lineup on either O or D and costs 25 million per year.
  10. It's concerning for sure, but he's got tons of time to reign that in before getting up to the big club.
  11. They said it pretty well last night on the broadcast, he throws the fewest # of pitches in the strikezone of any pitcher. That's not a great stat, especially when your fastball is as pedestrian as his.
  12. My all-star ballot - slightly homeristic
  13. I love that you think i dont know the basics of baseball. My point is that Gorman could have easily been safe without sprinting through the bag given how that play set up. They essentially traded a possible run with possibly more coming for 1 guaranteed run and pretty much guaranteed end of inning. I dont think that qualifies as "genius." Interesting yes, but genius????
  14. I fail to see how this is “genius”
  15. Richards has lost his command completely this season it seems. Nothing is even close to looking crisp. Hitters know it’s always a ball
  16. Of course some idiot had to go and open his mouth…..what a moron.
  17. It’s a new game. Now get another 2 innings out of Kikuchi without giving the lead back and i think we win this.
  18. Missed this live as I was at work but that was sexy as hell.
  19. Well yeah, that was the question though, which cannot really be answered. It's not a for sure thing that Biggio playing LF has a measureable effect. Springer could get hurt tomorrow no matter how many games Biggio or ZImmer play .. so the hypothetical "value" of that positional flexibility in keeping Springer healthy is just that... hypothetical. I think the type of flexibility that guys like Biggio help with more is the ability to pinch hit more often for the platoon advantage and get plugged in wherever after the plate appearance. Over the course of a season those platoon advantages add up.
  20. Defensive versatility is never really a bad thing. But, trying to quantify the value his versatility brings in how mnay times he plays the OF in order to rest other guys... that can't really be done objectively, because it's not a clear "Biggio playing LF tonight gives X player the day off so he WILL stay healthier, ergo he WILL provide more value over the season so if that happens the extra value from X player IS a direct result of Biggio being able to play LF...." it's a factor, but it's not straight line. Zimmer would also be a factor there everytime he goes in defensively etc.
  21. Its a problem for sure. There is 0 starting depth at AAA right now that I would trust to do anything other than suck.
  22. I actually think its a good thing he's getting a day off. He's the 1 guy on the team right now who's defensive awesomeness cannot be replaced if he somehow does go to the IL. 1 day off won't kill the season.
  23. The math has already been done. A few games ago, even if the Yankees played .500 ball the rest of the season, the Jays need to win at a .630 clip the rest of the way to beat them by 1 game. Now, I can certainly see the Jays as capable of winning at .630, but no way the Yankess go .500 or worse unless at least 4 regulars get hurt for a huge stretch of time. It's possible, but it's not probable. That .630 winning percentage for the Jays also assumes total health, which is not likely either. All of that said, the Jays were pretty much out of the playoff picture last year before they won 14 or 15 games in a row at that one point towards the end of the season and ended up missing by 1 game. Anything is possible I guess.
