  1. interesting pick by the Yankees, seems early on a guy with his health history
  2. mlb rankings dont take commits into account for their rankings as far as i know. Caminiti would have been a good pick too, but.. I think it's obvious that where he landed, and the complete lack of surprise on both his face and the Braves draft room, that a big overslot deal is on his future.
  3. Nice helium pick by the Dodgers. If that kid develops even average pop he could be really really good
  4. I agree if there was a chance to sign him. But taking a guy that you know won't sign is foolish the way the draft is set up. But if he goes to Baltimore.... I may cry
  5. The extra pool money from pick 136 may come in handy there.
  6. 4 year college guy ... i would guess he's good enough for Vancouver, but that may depend on whether he has the right visa.
  7. I would bet that Caminiti already has a pre-draft deal done with someone that has a lot of picks and draft pool to spend. My guess is Cleveland or Milwaukee
  8. Cant really argue with a top 11 talent being taken at 20. Trey Yesavage, 6'4" 225 "East Carolina will have a pitcher selected in the top two rounds for the third time in four Drafts, with Yesavage following in the footsteps of 2021 first-rounder Gavin Williams and 2022 second-rounder Carson Whisenhunt. A reliever as a freshman, he moved into the Pirates' rotation last spring and was a consensus second-team All-American. He dominated as a junior, finishing among NCAA Division I leaders in ERA (2.02, fourth), strikeouts (145, fifth) and opponent average (.154, second) while establishing himself as a top-15 pick. The American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, Yesavage has a quality four-pitch arsenal highlighted by a mid-80s slider/cutter with more depth than lateral movement. His fastball parks at 93-95 mph and peaks at 98, overcoming a lack of life with plenty of carry from a high arm slot. He also has a low-80s spike curveball and a splitter with similar velocity, and both miss bats as well. More physical than athletic at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Yesavage has some effort in his delivery but it doesn't prevent him from throwing strikes. Improved fastball command has keyed his success in 2024 after his heater got pounded at times in the past when he didn't locate it up in the zone. He now looks like a mid-rotation starter after refining the consistency and control of his stuff."
  9. Hard to say, the top ranked picks are all pitchers, but there's some good hitters still around also. So hard to say what they'll do right now given what the guys just said about Trey Yesavage having medical questions, and Schmidt straight up pulling out.
  10. They may pass on a HS arm, but it won't be because of Barrera.
  11. Would love Caminiti at 20, not gonna lie, but who the hell knows what his LSU commit would cost to get him to pass up.
  12. lots of top talent still available for the Jays pick at 20 thanks to all these obvious savings picks happening right now
  13. no doubt. Those 2 additional picks in the top 70 give them a big edge in taking some overslot guys later on if they can save some money in round 1. At least Baltimore has 0 competitive balance picks this year, just the bonus pick for Gunnar winning ROY
  14. Brewers go even further off board... than Miami. Wow. But with the comp picks they have coming their way, this is almost certainly an underslot savings pick.
  15. Switch pitchers are fun yeah, but ... most reports ive read have him far better throwing RH than LH.
  16. Miami wins the off-board pick award.... taking 43 ranked guy at 16
  17. Taking a 7th ranked guy at 4 isnt way off board. I mean like... taking some guy from the 2nd or 3rd round ranks with their 1st pick. Edit... Seattle almost went there.. taking 25 rank at 15.
  18. I wonder who the first team to go way off board will be .... Tampa?
  19. probably the mlb network. but you can follow it online https://www.mlb.com/draft/2024
  20. there's multiple 17 year old HS in the draft too.
  21. I love the Griffin pick for Pittsburgh.
  22. #12 ranked Christian Moore to the Angels.
  23. Bazzana must be the first Aussie to go 1-1 right?
