  1. I really think the Jays will go balls out this winter. Being the bridesmaid on Ohtani might have been the kick in the nuts they need to actually outbid others for Soto. If they get Soto, then attracting a top end starter becomes easier, same for the higher end pen guys
  2. This. As much as the system has been improved woth these trades, there's still no elite guys. Not that there should have been any expectations to land one from the guys they're trading.
  3. It's almost like there's no right path for the Jays with Vlad. Trading him would be monumentally stupid, but signing him to a top 3 in baseball AAV would also be monumentally stupid.
  4. Even just looking at his last 13 games....8 HR, 6 BB, only 5 Ks
  5. Yeah, grabbing Burnes and Kikuchi again in the offseason would make for a solid rotation Burnes, Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt and Kikuchi. Then you can afford to let all the guys who are close to marinate in AAA and come up to fill in any injury issues. Bowden Francis would probably be the defacto long man who gets the first crack at it, but to have multiple guys who can actually come up and make 2-5 starts if needed is something the Jays have been missing though thankfully not really needing either given the relative health of the rotation.
  6. The plus side of Vlads D is scooping at 1b. He's apparently the cream of yhe crop there. However. To wet blanket that, I belive Tango said when he stopped by that elite level scooping would be worth around ~3 runs per season above average. Doesn't move the needle much
  7. More like extend Vlad Sign Soto Sign Burnes Sign capable backup catcher. Figure out spots 3-8 in the pen Get at least 1 thumper off the bench that's not totally useless in the field. Rest of the bench is fine with what they have. Clement, Schneider, pick a backup CF from all the guys theyve just acquired, and the backup catcher they sign. Bench done. Decent amount of depth at AAA from the trade targets to fill in for Bo's year long calf injuries. Probably need another SP though. As far as the pen....Romano and Green (assuming no trade of the latter) are really the only guys I'd have any real faith in out of the gate. Swanson might pitch himself back into the circle of trust ...remains to be seen. Little I think is a capable arm, might surprise and be more than just a 2nd lefty, but not quite there yet. Cabrera is nasty and inconsistent. They've got a lot of "bottom 3" delivers, they definitely need a high leverage addition and at last 1 or 2 more mid-to high to shake out from the system or other pickups But mostly they need Bo and Vlad to be great all season long
  8. I'm sure they're working on it, his injury is definitely a hindrance.
  9. Looks there is some cash going to Seattle. It's been reported a couple of times now since the original. We just don't know how much.
  10. Not quite that severe. Teams that receive revenue-sharing payouts can't receive a lottery pick for more than two years in a row and those that don't can't get a top-six choice in consecutive Drafts. Furthermore, a club that's ineligible for the lottery can't select higher than 10th overall.
  11. The fact they were able to get a team to take all of Turner's remaining salary IS the silver lining.
  12. Walk it off Ernie!
  13. Yeha, just a tweet from Morosi saying Green is a top target of the Phillies. Nothing more than that at this point. It's worth speculating on a return though... there's lots of ways to make a deal given his contract and price. Jays could eat some to get a better return I would guess Griff McGarry would be in the hypothetical return plus someone else.
  14. Havent seen confirmation of any trade yet, just that Green is a top target of the Phillies.
  15. I'd say the mets have a higher wilingness to have a higher payroll. Rogers Corp is probably overall the richest "owner" in MLB. Rogers paid out 1 billion in dividends alone in 2023.
  16. Rays teeing off on Bassitt in the 3rd. He's leaving meatballs up there.
  17. I think it's a pretty okay gamble for him. He was ranked 61, went 81... with a solid year he could go even late round 1 and easily triple his signing bonus or more.
  18. It certainly feels like their fates are intertwined given that both of their contracts are up at the same time.
  19. Yall not seeing Schneider playing 4D chess out there. He was saving Jimi for the 9th and a possible save to pump that trade value up. The 2 errors messed up his carefully laid plans
  20. That was an interesting half inning
