Phillies GM thought the deal was done with Bo. According to Dombrowski, Bo had said he would sign if the Phillies agreed to 7/200 ... they did, and he even called Realmuto's agent, who at that point hadn't signed yet, and he told him they were likely going in another direction. So, effectively they had an agreement in principle and just hadn't started signing paperwork before the Mets called with a dump truck full of cash.
Story makes sense since Realmuto signed within a few hours of the Mets and Bo announcing their deal.
