I agree. I believe that Boras fabricated the Jays' interest and the Mets didn't buy it. They weren't going to bid against themselves.

Is it? It never made a lot of sense for us with a franchise 1B already in tow. It reeks of a situation where one or more of the sides were being used as leverage. It made sense for both the Mets in their Alonso negotiations and the Jays in their Vlad Jr. negotiations.

If we've learned anything this off-season, it's that 'reports' about the Jays have literally zero value. They are made up BS almost 100% of the time, even from somewhat respected reporters. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we never made a serious offer for Alonso and were just being used as a pawn in negotiations with the Mets, like we have seen with countless other players. Alonso also could have been used as a pawn in our own negotiations with Vlad Jr.

That's correct. With the Brewers in 1982. He was also an actor in the movie Major League, the villain Clu Haywood. Whitt was an All-Star, but there are more answers.

Correct. Pretty crazy that they all ended up on the same team. Which player taken in the 1976 expansion draft went on to win a Cy Young Award? Which players in the same draft went on to be All-Stars with the Blue Jays?

I enjoy reading trivia about the Jays and learning new things. If the biography of old Jays players that Brock suggested takes off, then maybe some of the info in this thread will be useful. I'll start with a cool one. Which iconic trio of Blue Jays were all born within a 15 day span in the fall of 1959?

I always get criticized for being too optimistic about the Jays. This is a change. W thought Chapman was coming, we thought Darvish was coming, we thought piece of s*** Ohtani was coming. It hasn't been an easy ride for this kind of thing as a Jays fan I want Sasaki as bad as anyone and I'll still be optimistic on the team's chances, but I didn't get my hopes up in this instance and that was probably the smart move.

I've been through too much of this BS with Chapman and that piece of s*** Ohtani to be bothered checking regularly. One of my buddies will message me if it happens and I'll have the news 5 minutes after everyone else who is refreshing constantly.

I give it about 60% SD, 40% LAD and 0% Toronto. I usually appreciate some optimism, but there's absolutely zero chance. We're being used as a pawn to get concessions from the other teams (other than salary).

Sure, but it's inconvenient and unnecessary. People just aren't going to use subforums, period. If we want baseball discussion then this thread 100,% needs to be in the main forum.

All of the threads in the subforums are already dead. It doesn't work, we already tried this. Everything has to be on one page.

I said the same thing about the around baseball thread. This should be in the main forum. Subforums do not work for the people that use this to discuss Blue Jays. This thread will never be used.

It's one of my favourite threads to catch up on league news. The thread will just die in this forum and stunt discussion. The same thing happened to the MILB thread in the old forum. Nobody used it.
